I agree. None of the American drum and bass generation that are now called dubstep were actually familiar with dub, so they didn't understand what the "dub" part was. So it is not an accurate label. But such is life. However, some of their production values and bass innovations are awesome and have fed back successfully into more authentic dubstep, so its not all bad. I guess it is a dubstep tangent of sorts

The thing that I love about Rusko is that he uses real bass lines. Mr Chips has such a cool bass line. These Bro Step guys like Skrillex and Zomboy just use transformer sounds and focus on the drops.
I discovered dubstep through the oldies; MtEden, Xilent, etc... Skrillex isn't a dubstep producer (although he has SOME dubstep tracks), but is acknowledged to have introduced the majority of electronic listeners to dubstep, because giving technical terms to the new listeners would be too confusing.
as soon as a song goes mainstream theres always a group of people who start hating it lol your deep desire to not be mainstream kinda goes the opposite way....
People always hate on whomever becomes the "headliner" of a genre, no matter whether good or bad. Its mostly elitism. Personally, I find the mid range thing Skrillex has going on a bit grating after a while, but he sure as hell does not suck.
@ohyairock i dont really listen to skrillex all that much but he has some decent dubstep songs, he makes em a lil bit different dood, he is a kool guy, and he got dubstep recognized, which is a good thing cuz he helped me discover people like rusko who i listen to all the time he is the face of dubstep.

Generally, the dubstep rooms I've been in are solely occupied by waves of drone-like blokes arranged in an almost perfect grid of 2-step dancing.. With the occasional Red Stripe, Obey/Huf Snapback, Eastpack rucksack and/or a group of girls who never stay long enough... Dub Step.. Step it up :/
2-3 years ago I loved dubstep because of Caspa and Rusko and then as the years went by and new artists like Skrillex came by I liked his work but it felt like it was lacking something and how I slowly started to stray away from dubstep....BUT thanks to Caspa and Rusko, I love dubstep again
Honestly the fact that it is a remix of kid cudi makes up for light bass. And also people saying the bass was good with their speakers need to know that with those speakers all bass sounds good in any song
