Nathaniel: What is Zelda?
Marshall, internally: You fool, you absolute bafoon, you have paved the way for your own defeat.
You're the buffoon.
Gotta admit, that was a mean (yet understandable) denial
I still think there's something wrong with pretty much anyone in todays age that doesn't know what franchise Link is from!
Edit: Heck even if they're from the 90s they should definitely know the answer.
Clueless Zoomers
Nathaniel's the dude to think that Zelda is link I'm just saying
"What is Zelda"?
"Give me something more"
"...wait there's more to Zelda?"
What is Zelda anyway? Is that the game from the 90s with the weird elf guy? Was more mario and sonic in the 90s
@@sassbrat Zelda is the princess of that game. Link is the main character and yes he is the little elf looking dude.
@@anthonyrivas5754 okay, thank you. I thought that was what it was but as i said never really played that game

I don't
True, but "Zelda" on its own is also the name of the princess, so...

@@Amenomihashira I’m making a note here, huge success.
Incredible, a Jeopardy video games category that the contestants were all at least semi-competent
@@asanokatana TBF, I was impressed a college student actually knew who Qbert was.
@@TyphonJRT Probably only because of Wreck-It Ralph, if I had to guess
@@omegamkx588 idk why you guys think ppl in college would never have heard of retro game characters
@@omegamkx588 bruh seriously?
Well, yeah. They’re kids.
Nathaniel legit was confused when Alex asked for more than just Zelda. He's like what more? Lol
Marina Syndulla My thought was “Ah yes, The Legend of Zelda, as opposed to the other Zelda franchise in video game existence. Good thing they asked for clarification from the contestants.”
The Grybo its a proper title. Zelda by itself is just a single character. It’s “mario bros” not “mario”. You can interpret it as petty but I’m not sure what you’re expecting from a trivia game. It’s not the shows job to draw the answer out of the contestants
YouJustAmazeMe I understand that, but there have been plenty of times on Jeopardy where partial responses have been accepted. I’ve noticed it specifically when referring to politicians or authors. “Who is Frost,” or “Who is Kennedy?” Instead of “Who is Robert Frost,” or “Who is John F. Kennedy?” I feel like “What is Zelda” being turned down as a valid response is inconsistent with the show’s past actions. If there were other “Zelda” franchises that had nothing to do with Legend of Zelda, then I can see why they would require more clarification.
@@TheeGrybo I will give them credit though that they are consistent specifically on LoZ, because it was a final jeopardy once and 2 people said zelda and got it wrong, while one person said legend of zelda and got it right. It's probably because there more interested that it is a franchise than a name.
@@MaxTheSwagMasterC Here's the thing (and the Final Jeopardy! Zelda clue is here on CZcams, BTW): Zelda is the name of the Princess, and they were looking for the name of the game.
Literally the only Jeopardy category I can get anything right in

The $400 clue was void because the time ran out.
As a CZcams/social media exclusive, they could've just revealed what it was (they did that for a category called Pokémon).
Shame the players chose not to finish the category
I was able to comment and ask about that clue.
ty i was wondering
It was probably something about Mario.
0:58 the confusion is real when you don't know about giving proper full answers hahahah

0:55 Ugh! This is the second time that one contestant forgot to say "What is the Legend of Zelda", not "What is Zelda"!
If I remembered correctly (maybe couple years ago), I first saw the same incident before on Final Jeopardy. Most people and gamers are saying Zelda as a Nintendo franchise but not with Jeopardy's favor.
Yep. That Final Jeopardy is up here on CZcams. You want to know why they couldn't accept just Zelda? That's the PRINCESS's name, and they were looking for the GAME's name.
@@gameshowguy2000 Exactly! Thank you for this info that I need!
@@gameshowguy2000 I don't see that as being relevant.
@@RinJackson Why not? It's like answering Thrones instead of Game of Thrones. Or Rings instead of the Lord of the Rings.
@@rindoubaka1574 Exactly. You can't just go and spout names of video game characters and expect to be rewarded, when you were supposed to give out the name of the game series. The game series is NOT called Zelda, it's called The Legend of Zelda. There's not two ifs or buts about it. You either know it and get it right or you don't and you get it wrong. You can't go saying "Link" or "Ganon" and expect to win either...
Saw this when it aired. Was so disappointed when they ran out of time for that first question
Answer*
You're both wrong. It's clue.
Knowing myself, if I was giving that LoZ clue, I would have gone on to state that the version they were talking about was a remake, and that the original came out decades earlier on the original Gameboy. But I might also be blinded by watching too much Um, Actually 😅
I remember this one, I was washing dishes and my mom called me over because she knew that I'd know these
DANKEY KANG
I got like every answer to this category when it was on TV and my grandmother was very happy
This went a lot better than the other video
Link's Awakening was a 2019 RE-release of the 1993 gameboy game.
Didn't say it wasn't my guy
@@littlemisspipebomb4723 to just say it's a 2019 game is misinformation. Something that I would expect better of from Jeopardy.
@@Charlezard. It wasn't a re-release, it was a remaster. A re-release would be the exact same game on the Game Boy a second time. If you're going to argue pointless semantics (that clue is perfectly fine as it is), at least get your own semantics correct.
@@calereliya re-release, reboot, remaster, re-what-the-fuck-ever. It's a redo of the 1993 game.
@@Charlezard. Both of you are wrong a rerelease is just well rereleasing something you already have with no real changes. A remaster is an upgraded version of an older game. This was a remake a from the ground up rebuild of an older game
I'm impressed that the video game category actually asked video game questions and not video game themed questions. Like previously it was things like "Sonic the hedgehogs balloon can be seen in this annual parade" "Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade"
I think it was pikachu btw on the pokemon category
Yay, Valve acknowledgement
its a legend. Respect the legend!
Portal is one of my favorite games of all time so I’m SO GLAD ITS A JEOPARDY QUESTION!!!

0:23 Calm down my guy 😂
I know, right. I've never seen that type of body movement on the game.
Let the virgin have his moment of glory....hole.
He's been waiting his whole life for that question
If all categories on Jeopardy were this one...I’d have a good amount of money. 😅
Alex: Give me something more
Nathaniel: ?
Me: *dies internally*
Well they definitely did better in this one compared to the other Jeopardy video games category
"What is Zelda?"
"Give me something more."
"What is Zelda....please?"
Seeing them talk about video games is so surreal
0:54 That clue was in fact asked a few years back in FJ! and he made the exact same mistake as the contestants back then. Casual gamer fail...
As far as I'm concerned, the fail and mistake is on Jeopardy's behalf
@@RinJackson Why? Zelda is the name of a character. The Legend of Zelda is the name of the Game Series.
@@RinJackson that's like saying juliet should be accepted as another name for "romeo and juliet" if zelda was not a character then the answer would've been accepted, but they were asking for the series not the princess.
@@AboveW How could you possibly equate those two? Zelda is the colloquial name for the series; no one refers to Romeo and Juliet as Juliet. But everybody simply calls it Zelda, even Nintendo executives during Directs. The fault is on Jeopardy.
@@waterwind2266 But it is not... they asked for the name of the series. Not the name people call the series. For example: It's "Super Mario Bros" and not "Mario" as "Mario" is the main character in that video game, but "Super Mario Bros" is the game... even if people call it "Mario". Get it right.
UT for the win
"What is Zelda?" should've been acceptable
"The cake is a lie" - Alex Trebek
"What is Zelda?"
"Give me something more."
Me really hoping someone tries "What I Zelda 2?"
Yes, they included Valve!
This may be the only time I've been able to answer every question in a Jeopardy category.
It didn’t revisit Ellie and Joel. It killed Joel and gave you Abby. :(
Major spoilers bruh
NateBit I mean i guess. 99% of people who are going to pkay it though probably already knowing considering how huge the backlash was
You obviously didnt even play the game. What a dumbass
I mean it definitely revisited Joel and Ellie’s relationship even despite what happens in the spoiler. Also From a story telling prospective it was pretty obvious that was going to happen in the sequel. Joel’s story was definetly wrapped up in the first game. Naughty dog made the right decision there
@@josephbrambil2868 No, they didn't.
What were the unrevealed clues?
Im slightly annoyed that they said the release of Link's Awakening was 2019, instead of that being the re-release.
0:24 Unbelieveable! You, [Subject Name Here], must be the pride of [Subject Hometown Here].
Would you look at that, a Jeopardy category I could’ve easily nailed
Xiaoke is such a cool name.
Do they see the videos for the clues with those or just words?
At least these people know video games, the Adults on the other video Jeopardy posted knew litte about video games.
Who is Dankey Kang?
"What is Zelda?"
Trebek: "A little more."
*Suprised Pikachu Face*
Me: "YOU BLEW IT!"
THE LEGEND OF. OBVIOUSLY
Figures that the one from Yale wouldn't be the strongest in the video games category; too many of my older friends had to give up gaming there
Once again, it pays to understand that when the name of the game or franchise is requested, answering with just "What is Zelda" instead of "What is The Legend of Zelda" will cost you.
#RIPAlexTrebek
Jeopardy video game categories have been getting a lot better in the last couple of years.
It's because they are from a generation that knows the smaller details of modern trends instead of boomer adults that know what the most popular 1650s book is and nothing modern.
we did it boys, he said meme before he passed. respects to alex trebek.
“What is Zelda?”
“Give me something more.”
I’M WHEEZING HOLY CRAP
That Portal question was a very good one. Should have been the 2000 question
Does anyone know the last answer on the category (which is World of Video Games for $400), please?
A game about rootin, tootin an some cowboy shootin
Surprised there was actually a bit of challenge here, they didn’t just basically give you the answer.
All night with this guy! If you're gonna leave all those lights on I'm not splitting the electric bill!
Lol. Stewie.
I mentally yelled at "what is zelda?"
What is DANKEY KANG
Dude in the middle looks like he's having a stroke.
That man, couldn't remember the full title even when prompted.
My mans leaning up against the fuckin' podium like he's ordering a drink at the bar lmao
How do you blank on “Legend of”
It's not the first time the answer "What is the Legend of Zelda?" has gotten a Jeopardy contestant.
-"What is Zelda?"
-"Give me something more"
-"ok, well Link is given an ocarina that can control time when he plays it, and splits the timeline........"
What is Danky Kang?!?
Catagory: Video Games
Answer: This company game console will never have their first party games mentioned because we don't want to acknowledge our main competition since this show is produced by Sony.
Question: What is the Microsoft Xbox?
I knew exactly none of these. But then, video games got too complicated for me once Asteroids came out. I was pretty good at Pong.
See I can easily be on jeopardy.
Typo on the Zelda clue. Link’s Awakening 2019 is a remake, not a release.
Llllkui8
@dietcola Details!
I remember Zelda was an answer in a Final Jeopardy once, and folks got it wrong for not saying "The LEGEND of" Zelda.
Some of the most free questions except for the Zelda one cause I’d fuck that up too
Link's awakening originally came out in 1993 but had another remake for the gameboy color then we had a full remake in 2019.
Got them all! Woohoo!!!!
watching this made me feel smart for once
I wish I could have seen the expression on that guy on the far left when he realized the words he was missing
Finally youngin’s showing their knowledge
What is Zelda?? Looks around clueless. I only knew the first and last question.
Ah, one jeopardy category where I actually got all the right answers.
Oh so THAT is how I pronounce the setting of that old Game Boy game and the remake of it made last year.
What about that last clue? I was hoping it would be about Super Mario.
Bruh if there was pure video game jeopardy I think a lot of us gamers would crush it
Finally. The contestants know what games are.
What is "The Myth of Link"?
Eh, there's a difference between a legend and a myth
Last guy got screwed lol
I died internally when he didn't say "Legend of Zelda". Good for him tho cuz it shows how much he studies???
There's a very easy reason for this.
People are complaining like "omg they don't clarify for john F kennedy so why did they clarify for zelda?"
First of all, the people complaining about this obviously got it wrong too, so there's your bias right there.
But JFK is taught in all american history books (jeopardy is an american show), and is popular in pop culture too; it's just widely known. In the context of "President", it'd be completely repetitive to ask contestants to clarify something the entire american population knows.
But video games are still, even today, very niche, as shown in this clip, when somebody didn't even know the full franchise name after given clarification.
So I decide to trust jeopardy's judgement here. If you can't get the answer after the hint anyways, you don't deserve it lol.
Links awakening was a reamake in 2019, the original was 1993 for the nintendo game boy
I love how his pupils dilate in bewilderment.
They weren’t zombies!!!
They were cordiceps!!!
Now you're thinking with portals
