    Quick way to check without even moving the engine cover is by quickly removing the glow plug relay in the fuse box under the bonnet. All four pins can be checked from the relay socket. Also proves the cables to the glow plugs are good too.

      I’ve just done this and all 4 glow plugs read 0.7-0.9. They all seem good but still getting PO684 fault along with all glow plug code faults. Assuming this is relay at fault is there any tests I can do to prove it’s 100% the relay?

    Thanks, I had the same code, same cylinder, it cleared itself after a good bit of time, after I was all set to pull and replace the glow plug. the fault never affected the starting noticeably. Same engine, same year. Now I have an intermittent pressure sensor issue, your info was super helpful. I just reseated the connectors as it runs okay. Nice work.

Took it to the local garage and the guy there told me that glow plugs are irrelevant for Portugal climate since its never too cold. Also thecar is park in garage. Injectors showing healthy values.. Quick question, I have a MK7 GTD and recently had all 4 glow plugs changed but didn’t put the glow plug with the pressure sensor in and now there is a check engine light and also says cylinder 3 compression fault on the reader. Will putting the pressure sensor glow plug in the correct place (cylinder 3) fix the issue? And would you recommend an Amazon purchase for the glow plug? And where would I find the correct glow plug size and spec? Thank you

    • @diydaly
      @diydaly  Před rokem +2

      ive listed a link for the glow plugs in the description.. did yours have a pressure sensing plug originally then? you should be able to fit the wrong plugs that all as the connectors are different from pressure sensing / normal glow plugs

    • @10casem
      @10casem Před rokem +1

      Thanks for the reply. Yes organially there was a pressure sensor on cylinder 3 and no there’s not which is why I am confident this is the reason for the check engine light. On my cars and the other golfs they have cylinder 3 pressure sensor so I’ve ordered the part going to hope it solves the issue :)
