But Ricardo DID think twice. In fact, the reason Reed was almost stuck in that dimension was Ricardo was going to let him die out of professional jealousy, and his hesitation caused the tether to break, and it was then that Ricardo decided to save him. Plus, I always read his change as witnessing Reed not the jerk he always believed him to be, but the hero that the whole team was.
Best version of the Thing was when he assimilates and mimics his host. Then starts hunting other life forms to infect and spread, to continue the cycle.

The pain caused M-T's body to react and produce chemicals that burned the opponent when hit or grabbed. M-T fought opponents to make his fear-induced pain stop.

They already talked about Making them cannon in the MCU anyways. I've heard nothing about them changing that possible narrative.
The weird thing about the Mangaverse F4 was that they were clearly doing a pastiche on Neon Genesis Evangelion, with Benjamin filling the "Shinji" role. (Sue was Rei, "Johnatha" was Asuka, and Reed was Misato, in case anyone was curious).
There is another version of the Thing that this video omitted. This one was in the DCU. In Adventures of Superman (I forget which issue), when the character of Hank Henshaw was introduced--later to become the Cyborg Superman--he commanded a team of three other astronauts who were all bombarded by cosmic rays and turned into a DC version of the Fantastic Four. But only Henshaw survived the issue, and he later blamed Sman for not saving them while in orbit, which fueled his hatred for Sman thereafter.
You forgot about The Planetary's Jacob Greene who was an evil version of the Thing. He was the Four's muscle.
The closer he got to No1 without Planetary appearing the more disappointed I got (although I was secretly optimistic that it would take the No1 spot)

Man Thing is not a "vile creature that lives in the swamp and feeds on fear"
Man Thing is the protector of the Nexus of All Reality. He does not "feed" off of fear. Anything that feels fear burns at the touch of the Man Thing, even demons. Man Thing does not feed off of this reaction.
what about the version from the more recent secret wars? where he becomes a giant wall keeping all the zombies from overrunning the world?

I'm surprised that the Ultimate Thing didn't make the list or that they didn't include the Cyborg Superman origen which was exacly like the fantastic Four including some one that turned into an alternative Thing
Not going to mention the Thing Rings? First was the "Fred and Barney Meet the Thing" cartoon from 1979 where the kid Benjy Grimm touches the rings together and says "Thing Rings do your thing" to turn into the Thing, but there's also a comic version where Darla Deering uses the rings and the same phrase to make a Thing exo armor.
You didn't even mention when Thing gets another dose of cosmic radiation when he crashes a space shuttle in FF issue 310 and becomes as strong as the Hulk. That's when Sharon Ventura becomes the She-Thing.
I remember when he destroyed Grey Hulk.
Speaking of alternate Thing's I can't wait to see his MCU version.

He is my favorite member of the team. Fox did a decent job with him in the first two movies. But the reboot... we don't talk about that movie. But I have high hopes for his MCU appearance since they've proven time and time again, they can give us a new version of our favorite heroes, without removing everything that made us love the characters in the first place. Something Fox was very hit or miss on, sometimes they got it right, and sometimes they made me question if they even knew the characters they were making movies for.

@@venomrulesall I think that they should make them nuclear family, to not only give spin to they dated design, but also make decent reason why they exist in they bobble. Because lets be honest. There is actually no reason why they should be heroes in current MCU reality. But who know? We will see.
Well hopefully that won't butcher the fantastic 4 like some of the other characters like hulk and spider man

How about the version from Batman Beyond. They more effectively combined The Thing with the Human Torch to make a magma version of The Thing.

@Aaron Forsythe yeah there was an episode where (since it takes place in the future) there are new superheroes, and I won’t spoil it for you but basically they were meant to represent the fantastic four.

Other two that you could have mentioned was the one from the Venture Brothers that I think is just a big fleshy guy and the one from Cyborg Superman's origin that becomes an even more grotesque dirt creature that ends up killing himself. There is also the one from Batman Beyond that other comments have mentioned. I really love seeing other people's take on the Fantastic Four, even if it ends up being more fucked up. XD

@Brian Cairns Yes, but if you can't look at a published piece of work's character design and automatically tell it's a manhwa or some American artist attempting the style, you don't read enough manga.
@Brian Cairns I'm pointing out that published American artists who attempt to draw manga have a very distinct looking style that's instantly recognizable and set it apart from manga actually drawn by Japanese artists. Same with South Korean artists. You can tell without even looking at the artist's name. Has an "inspired by" sort of look but it's a reach to label it as "traditional" (their words), which by definition would be "purist". Hence my comment, genius.

in Godzilla vs The Thing, Mothra is called The Thing in title, although still called Mothra in movie. The Thing was also a monster from outer space in scifi movie played by James Arness before he became famous in Gunsmoke. Remake of movie also called The Thing it was a shape shifting monster. Movie the Blob staring Steve McQueen but not as the Blob came out before X-Men comics version of the Blob. Was a flowing pile of goop that absorbed whatever lifeform it engulfed.
It may not deserve top 10 but i would've liked to see the version of the thing from cyborg supermans origin as an honorable mention

I stopped reading comics in the mid-90s, so the only versions I remember are the 3 "What If?" stories, as that was a comic I read regularly. The others looked pretty good, too.

John Byrne created one called the Hunk for Danger Unlimited. And Alan Moore did some sort of moonface guy for Mystery Incorporated. These are a few of My Favorite Things 🎵.

The Stone men of Saturn in Tales to Astonish resemble a cross between the Thing and the Eastern Island statues. DC comics has Characters called Stone Boy and another called Blok both resemble the Thing in The Legion of Super Heroes Stories. Mothra is also called The Thing. There was a movie called The thing it also had Remake called The Thing. Of course Marvel also has Man Thing. Robot Man in Doom Patrol is orange strong man that regrets being it and frequently argues with Larry Trainer (also called Negative Man) similar to how Thing and the Human Torch get along. Doom Patrol is sort of Marvel version of Fantastic Four with the chief unseen by villains so in a sense invisible to them in most stories, Elasti Girl later stretches not just shrinks and grows so also sort of like Mr. Fantastic, Negative man an Energy being similar to the Thing. Beast Boy is green alien similar to The Skrulls and the Impssible man both of which appear in Fantastic Four.

The Stone men of Saturn in Journey into mystery that battled Mighty Thor resembled a cross between the Thing and the statues of Easter Island. They had one in a Thor movie but was no longer orange. Mr. Fantastic is the best as he is smartest also can stretch around the Thing and keep him from moving. Was also the one that stopped The Invisible Woman when she was altered by Psycho man and had defeated The Thing and The Human Torch.
