Greg is wrong. Watch that super bowl again. Right before atlanta threw themselves out of game-winning field goal range, matty ice forced it to julio on the right sideline. He made a straight up stupid catch over and around a db, got his feet down, and got out of bounds. If atlanta runs it three times and kicks that field goal, julio would have been lauded for making one of the clutchest plays in an sb by a wideout ever.

I'm a steelers fan so this may be biased. But other than the locker room incident & the incident where he was wide open on a 3rd down; what has warranted AB as a "diva"? For the past 5 years AB is the most consistent & productive WR in the NFL today, & it's not even close. 5 straight 100 catch seasons. 5 straight 1,200 yard seasons (6 total). 8+ TD's 5 straight seasons. AB has better hands & yard after the catch ability... AB is doing what all 6'2+ receivers should be doing & he's only 5'10. Not to mention if you follow him on social media he is by far one of the most hardest working WR's off the field. Julio is amazing, yes. But you don't have to shade AB to praise Julio.

Julio. AB is great, I think he’s 2nd. But I think a lot of his numbers look better cause of the way the Steelers use him. They force him the ball (mainly on Ben), whereas Matt Ryan just looks for the best possible match up or whoever may be open on any play. That could be cause Ben doesn’t trust his other WR’s as much as Ryan trusts his, but they’re both great. Clearly the best and 2nd best WR’s in the game. But 6’3, 220lbs, 4.3 40 speed with great hands and can run the entire route tree, wide catch radius, good perimeter blocker, great RAC..... that’s just hard to pick against.

You’re cherry picking stats, bruh. Overall, over the course of their careers, AB gets an average of 5 more targets a season than Julio, 131 to 126. That’s nothing - less than 1 target over every three games. But again, you’re using the fact that AB gets open more often to propose that JJ is a better receiver. Doesn’t make sense.
Plus, AB catches 67% of his targets, JJ 64%.

So Julio is better than AB, but AB puts up better numbers every year🤔
Edit: For all of you saying AB gets targeted more, if he has more targets does that mean he gets open more than Julio? AB has 80 receptions while the other 7 receivers that have caught a ball from Ben on the Steelers have 170. Julio Jones has 65 receptions from Matt Ryan while the other 12 receivers who have caught a ball from Ryan have 179. That’s barely a difference for you people saying “the falcons spread the ball out more” And 4 of those falcons receivers have 2 or less receptions. That means the Steelers and Falcons spread the ball around almost EQUALLY and Pittsburgh has more rushing attempts and yards as well. In conclusion stop using the argument “AB is the only one Big Ben targets” because that information is false. Antonio Brown targets: 116, Julio Jones targets: 101. Basically a one game difference in targets. In conclusion although brown has 15 more targets (He gets open more in double coverage than Julio) he has been way more productive and consistent overall and both teams spread the ball about evenly. Brown>Julio.

He's not always producing the same each game but I think that also has to do with the difference in the way they play. Julio takes a lot of hits he runs extremely fast he jumps for nearly uncatchable balls etc. I think he takes more of a beating and that's why he can't produce the same every game but at the same time when he's fit he can do more than anybody.

This is for all of the people that think Julio is better than AB. AB was a 6th round draft pick and when he was a rookie the Steelers still had HINES WARD, EMANUEL SANDERS, AND MIKE WALLACE. He couldn’t just start right away. He had to work his way up to the starting spot. Julio Jones was a first round pick. He starting getting receptions right away. It’s crazy how AB is leading in all of these stats since he was a rookie. It just shows how great he really is. Everyone says Julio is better because he is bigger, stronger, and faster but AB is only 5’10 180lbs and still has better stats than Julio. AB has been the best receiver for the last 5 years no question. AB is so consistent. You know he will be clutch and have great numbers every game throughout the season. Plus he is a huge threat in special teams. He is just an all around better player. I wouldn’t be surprised if Julio has 50 yards next game. And don’t blame his bad games on the rest of their offense. They have the last years NFL MVP. AB has a QB that doesn’t even know if he wants to play anymore and retire. I’d take the future hall of famer, AB any day. #BusinessIsBoomin #CallGod 8x4=32...

  • @VSG2863
    @VSG2863 Před 6 lety +20

Fact check: AB has 126 targets compared to Julio's 101 and with 25 more targets he only has 150 more yards to show for it. If Julio had 25 more targets, assuming he kept the same catch rate (62%x25 targetsx15.7 yards per catch), he'd have 1,284 yards right now, almost 100 yards more than Antonio
If you do the same math for last season : Julio had 83 catches on 129 targets= 64% catch rate. 64%x 155 targets (How many target AB had) x 17 yards per catch (Julio's average per catch) you get 1,695 yards. That's more than 400 yards more than Antonio. Julio by the way, still led the league in receiving last year and had 200 yards more than AB despite the "best receiver" AB getting way more targets than him.
Julio produces more per touch than Antonio. That's because he's *more talented* than Antonio. Bigger, faster, stronger, can run every route as good as Antonio and can run better after the catch than Antonio. Julio can dominate games in a way AB can't, and that's no knock on AB because no one in the history of the league has done what he's doing. He has more 250+yard games than *ALL HALL OF FAME RECEIVERS COMBINED* . He averages the most yards per game *in league history* . He's been to two conference championships and put up 180 yards and 2 TD's in both of them, *the only player in league history to do that* . He has the most catches, yards, and 100 yard games in the first 90 games of a career. The guy walks his talk and sets records while he does it. Julio>AB

    • @VSG2863

@Gerardo Abrego AB gets more targets because because Ben forces the ball to him more. @ 4:23 both Greg Jennings and Shannon Sharpe agree that Matt Ryan doesn't force the ball to Julio as much as Ben does to AB. Jennings says "Matt Ryan, he doesn't force it to him. So I don't even think we will see the true greatness of Julio Jones because of that factor." That statement in itself is an admission that Brown gets the ball forced to him more. Julio wasn't even utilized to his fullest capability because he's a team player and realizes that spreading the ball around makes the TEAM better- oh and he STILL led the league in receiving. Ben misses Brown one time and he throws a temper tantrum on the sideline, and throws Ben under the bus in the process because Ben has to answer questions about why he missed Brown in the post game press conference.

If we're playing fantasy football, I would take Antonio Brown because of his usage and the team's game plan. If I were a coach building a team or needed a game winning drive, I would take Juilo over Brown any day. In reality, numbers don't tell the whole story in sports and least of all in football. Most RBs, QBs, and WRs like their own stats, but when you're splitting hairs like these guys said, stats are not how you judge the top 5 players at a position alone, that's what scouting is for, to see what they can do. Juilo > Brown.
Juilo is capable of bigger things than any WR in the league. Doesn't mean he does it every day because the falcons want to win. They'll use him to draw 3 guys away from a run. Or use him to block. Which he is pretty good at. He is just as fast. They both have great hands but Juilo has the bigger wingspan and harder to bring down when you hit him. What makes Brown great is his routes and how he creates separation with his speed and cuts. Juilo can do it all. He'll he can even tackle better if Ryan throws an INT. That's your best WR in the league guys

To all those people talking about Ben forces the ball to AB, and that if he got Antonio targets, he'd get 2500+ yards and he'd crush Antonio. Except we've already seen this. 2015, Julio had 203 targets, 136 catches, 1871 yards, and 8 touchdowns. Same year, Antonio had 193 targets, 136 catches, 1834 yards, and 10 TDs. Not only that, AB is flat out better at catching the ball, with Antonio having 2 70% or more catch percentage seasons with above 100 targets to Julio's zero. Additionally, the last time Julio caught a larger percentage than Antonio was in 2013, and even that deserves an asterisk. I'm 2013, Antonio caught the ball 65.9% of the time compared to Julio's 69.5%. Except in 2013, Julio only played 5 games, with 59 targets and 41 catches. In comparison, Antonio had 167 targets and 110 catches. Basically, if you discount the season where he only played five games, Antonio has routinely caught more passes on higher targets, and the one season where Julio had more targets, he only had 37 more yards (though he did have more yards on the same amount of catches) and 2 less touchdowns with identical number of receptions. I like Julio. He's an excellent receiver. But let's face it. When it comes to actually being a receiver, Antonio is just better. What makes it even worse is that Julio is freakishly athletic and take than average for his position. AB is barely above average in height and weight for men period, with pretty average athleticism for his position, yet here we are debating who's better. If we're talking hypotheticals, if AB had Julio's physical gifts or if Julio had the same height, weight, and athleticism as Antonio, this wouldn't even be a debate. It'd be even worse if you switched their pre draft measurables.

  • @jordantruce8645

Julio Jones doesn’t get the ball as much as AB but still has amazing stats close to his. Julio is the perfect size, no drama, clutch, has speed. AB wants stats, Julio wants to win and doesn’t want to be the only player targeted. Julio is way more respectable he’s a great guy who does his job quietly.
