- In this guide I try and discuss the Switch Axe in its entirety. Breaking down all of its moves and what they excel at or should be used for. I also try and rate them as to how good the moves are in my opinion. While this guide does not tell you how to fight any monsters, I try to give you all the info I can do help you on your way. This is a beginner level Guide. The Switch Axe is also just a hard weapon, and I am a firm believer that you can't improve without failure, and the Switch Axe will bring you a lot of failure when first starting. I hope you all don't get too discouraged and stick with it!!
Let me know if I failed to mention any beginner level things in the comments below, and please leave a like and comment if you enjoyed the video!
For those unaware, I made some mistakes in this video and have made a follow up video clarifying some of those mistakes and issues I made in this video. You can find that video here:
I played 1000 hunts with my switch axe and i still think i havnt mastered it. Its truly my favourite weapon of all time
Just a feedback.. your mic's volume is too low
Why yall put late game monsters in beginner videos? I want to experience these monsters first hand.
As someone who loves mobile and responsive weapons (lance and glaive) this really cleared up how to approach the fight without getting slapped all the time with switch axe
As a charge blade main, this weapon is harder than charge blade.
Or you can be like me and simply never learn the monster moves and get hit by nearly everything! The only thing I punish is myself, and anyone else that decided to tag along :P
I recently just started playing the switch axe for the first time and I’m loving it. It feels like a bloodborne trick weapon
I picked Switch Axe today, and all i know is charge the sword, clutch claw, and proceed to BRRRR
As someone who decided to switch frob DB to swaxe right after Velkhana because he got bored I can tell you: so far it's been really painful, but I'd lie if I said I'm not enjoying it.
Also, the average motion value of wild swings isn’t that much worse than the wild morph combo. It’s maybe 14% worse, but that difference goes away if you whiff any of the wild combo hits (including the sword hit at the end), and the difference further narrows if you end with a heavy slam.
it has been about 4 years since I have played the game and now that it is getting a resurgence, I really needed this refresher. Thank you so much!
yo this keep this shit up man ur a beast. i only recently got the game and chose switch axe as my first weapon and its hard to find simple, thorough, and well explained videos especially on a less common weapon. i just watched your nergigante positioning guide and that video was super well made as well. for most of my time through iceborne ive been a big fan of temporal zsd spam but watching you makes me really understand the potential damage output the weapon has.
I just started using the Switch Axe after being a Hunting Horn main for so long. Great guide, keep up the good work!
After 300 hours of just playing SA, seeing your channel has been a blessing and I learned neat details already on SA. Glad you decided to go active on your channel again
The Alatreon section at the beginning was sick, you're hella good with those quicksteps ngl keep up the good work
Very helpful, didn't even notice where the 20 minutes went. Thanks for the guide, fam.
Thx for the guide , very well made , i wanna use it more and after the guide i feel more confident to use it
This video is fantastic if you want to get to know or get better with Switch Axe. I main kinsect glaive but wanted to pick up a main heavy weapon as well. I had no idea what I was getting into with switch axe and it’s depth. This video is easily one of the top two videos I’ve seen that are actually helpful. I really appreciate it. Thank you. I’ve already improved noticeably if not drastically as a direct result of this video.
thanks rly good guide needed it was struggling with all the mis information about this weapon amped and power mode / optimal dps combos but hearing it from you confirms it for me now
