Love this vid. I had one housed with some anoles and house geckos when I was younger and knew way way less, and my frogs favorite activity was climbing up the side of the tank, and then yeeting himself as far out into the tank as possible, over and over

We were lucky enough to adopt four captive bred young fire bellies two years ago. I just happened to be gawking at the beautiful creatures in the reptile and amphibian section of my local shop, and the associate can't over. We got to chatting, and it turned out that he breeds these at his home. He actually offered them free to us after we spoke! Just this week I purchased a small Venus flytrap and a small Sundew to add to their tank. Those plants should thrive in the same environment that the fire bellies love! One thing I'd like to add for them is a background area with a waterfall feature. That way they will get more climbing areas and plants to play in! Thanks for the VERY informative, well done, video.

The automatically generated subtitles on this video are hilarious. 😂 It kept putting “Five Burritos” or “Fine Eddie’s Toes” in place of “Fire Belly Toads.”
Just finished setting up paludarium for some of these little guys and letting it mature a few months. I’ve been wanting them for years now but couldn’t reliably source live food until now.

Hiya, new subscriber and keeper of fire bellied toads. Normally I spend weeks researching but I've just had someone surrender their two as they couldn't keep up with basic care. The water bowl which was tiny, is filthy and substrate was soaked with frog mess poor things. Thankyou so much for your video, I can make them more comfortable now thanks to your info, much appreciated 💚

Hey, great video! I have a question I was hoping you could answer. I've been really interested in keeping frogs for a while, but I've never been able to find information on how NOT to breed them as most information out there recommends keeping groups in pairs or 3:1 groups depending on the species. But obviously, if you keep males and females in the same tank, they're liable to re-produce, which is not something I'm particularly interested in at the moment. And it seems there isn't a lot of information on keeping same sex groups and whether or not they will fight. So my question is: as it pertains to Fire Belly Toads and your experience with them, will mixed groups breed readily or do they need a catalyst to breed and thus will be fine without said catalyst. (Example: cool down/brumation periods) if they do breed readily in mixed groups, what is the best way to keep fire belly toads in same sex groups, if possible at all. I hope that all makes sense, any advice will be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Just to clarify, yellow bellied toads (Bombina variegata) are a completely different species to Oriental fire bellied toads (Bombina orientalis), so not a variation of the species and therefore shouldn’t be kept together as they can cross breed
