I used to breed these guys back when i was a kid. Awesome video btw very informative!
Amazing!!! They are amazing animals. Thanks mate 👍
Love this vid. I had one housed with some anoles and house geckos when I was younger and knew way way less, and my frogs favorite activity was climbing up the side of the tank, and then yeeting himself as far out into the tank as possible, over and over
Thanks mate! They are amazing animals and so interesting to watch 🐸
i used to have them when i was a kid, best pets ive ever had. but i had no idea they were actually frogs.
They are amazing animals and one of my favourite. Yes, they were originally miss categorised 👍🐸
We were lucky enough to adopt four captive bred young fire bellies two years ago. I just happened to be gawking at the beautiful creatures in the reptile and amphibian section of my local shop, and the associate can't over. We got to chatting, and it turned out that he breeds these at his home. He actually offered them free to us after we spoke! Just this week I purchased a small Venus flytrap and a small Sundew to add to their tank. Those plants should thrive in the same environment that the fire bellies love! One thing I'd like to add for them is a background area with a waterfall feature. That way they will get more climbing areas and plants to play in! Thanks for the VERY informative, well done, video.
The automatically generated subtitles on this video are hilarious. 😂 It kept putting “Five Burritos” or “Fine Eddie’s Toes” in place of “Fire Belly Toads.”
Just finished setting up paludarium for some of these little guys and letting it mature a few months. I’ve been wanting them for years now but couldn’t reliably source live food until now.
I’ve wanted a frog or toad for a while and this vid has rlly helped me out I think these frogs are the way to go
Thanks very much and I'm glad I could help 😁
Hiya, new subscriber and keeper of fire bellied toads. Normally I spend weeks researching but I've just had someone surrender their two as they couldn't keep up with basic care. The water bowl which was tiny, is filthy and substrate was soaked with frog mess poor things. Thankyou so much for your video, I can make them more comfortable now thanks to your info, much appreciated 💚
I’ve had my four for almost 5 years or so now.. love them
They are amazing animals arent they! 🐸
I have 3 babies to start with this week can’t wait, great video
Great video love my red eye tree frogs so I love frogs deffo agree iv had my red eyes 4 yrs there inactive in day but mine are super active at night 😁😁😁😁
Thanks Dave!!! They are stunning animals when they are out and about. Red eyed tree frogs and green tree pythons must be the best looking reptiles and amphibians right. Have you ever bred them?
awesome vid i think i might get 3 in a tank next to my gaming setup
Thanks very much!!! You won't regret it 😁🐸
Beautiful enclosed! I’ve recently set up something similar , do they disturb the moss or other plant ie scratching / digging?
Thanks
Hi, I’m currently building my first ever tank for some fire bellied toads. I’ve been doing lots of research and your videos have really helped. Where do you get your toads from in the UK? I’m struggling to find a place that has them in stock at the moment
Thanks!!! I'm glad I could help. I've only ever bought them from 2 local reprile shops in cardiff. I dont see them very often but I'm sure there are plenty on gumtree etc
Josh's frogs is a solid option
Hey would it be safe to have them in a multispecies vivarium with insects from europe?
I want to build a 10 gallon paladarium with gravel and moss ontop and some plants from lows
Sounds like a good plan 👍
Would it be safe to feed them nightcrawlers, they are soft bodied and easy to digest
I was wondering how to clean the tank? Do you use like a siphon or something I’m just clueless 😅
Haha no problem. Yes I use a siphon on the water section and I clean the glass but that's about it. If you check out my last fire belly video I go over how I do my maintenance there 👍 czcams.com/video/1u7HLN7khfc/video.html
Question: I want to get some of these frogs, and I have a vertical tank. Do they hop/climb well? Or do I need to make “paths” for them.
Mine use all the space I give them. If you have places for them to climb they will use it 👍
Hi, do the frogs not eat the isopods? I was told you can't put them in bc of the exoskellington
They have in the past but I havnt had any issues. I don't tend to add many anymore 👍
Hey, great video! I have a question I was hoping you could answer. I've been really interested in keeping frogs for a while, but I've never been able to find information on how NOT to breed them as most information out there recommends keeping groups in pairs or 3:1 groups depending on the species. But obviously, if you keep males and females in the same tank, they're liable to re-produce, which is not something I'm particularly interested in at the moment. And it seems there isn't a lot of information on keeping same sex groups and whether or not they will fight. So my question is: as it pertains to Fire Belly Toads and your experience with them, will mixed groups breed readily or do they need a catalyst to breed and thus will be fine without said catalyst. (Example: cool down/brumation periods) if they do breed readily in mixed groups, what is the best way to keep fire belly toads in same sex groups, if possible at all. I hope that all makes sense, any advice will be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Well he has 4 and I don’t think they’ve bred so I think it would be fine to get more than one but I don’t have any so idk
Ok so they do breed a lot of babies so get all females
hey there, I was wondering, how long does your water conditioner last for and how much do you use, thanks!
Hey mate, I use seachems brand and a large bottle lasts me months as it's so concentrated. Hope that helps...
@@JonsRainforestRoom yes thanks, Im thinking of either buying that or bottled water for my toads
I would get dechlorinator so much cheaper and easier 👍
How do you clean hard water stains
With a razor blade and some elbow grease 👍
How will you be sure the frogs won't eat the isopods
They probably do but I top up my cultures. I use more springtails than isopods with these guys 👍
Can you keep 2 females in one 10 gallon tank?
You should be ok with 2 in there 👍
Jon's Rainforest Room ok thank you! I actually might get a new tank that’s 20 gallons with doors in in the front.
they climb just fine , one of mine got out where the wires come out of the corner , and , I did not push the lid on correctly , so Jerry Springer left the building
Ohhh nightmare, they get everywhere! 🐸
that happened to me many times
Where the heck can I find these guys!! I had them when I was little and no where has them, not even online! I bought everything for these guys and can't seem to track any down, does anyone know where the heck these frogs went?!
@Thomas H They only have Yellow Fire Belly Toads 😭
@Thomas H The Yellow guys are still super cute! It's just the red ones I had as a kid growing up and I absolutely loved them and just really want to have some little red dudes again. Childhood ya' know? I would love to have the Yellow guys, but I was really hoping to find the red ones.
@Thomas H Yeah, thank you!
Is a yellow bellied toad the same as a fire bellied toad or?
They are the same family Bombinatoridae, but just a variation of the species 👍
Just to clarify, yellow bellied toads (Bombina variegata) are a completely different species to Oriental fire bellied toads (Bombina orientalis), so not a variation of the species and therefore shouldn’t be kept together as they can cross breed
dear imma say right now the only places I can find fire bellies is online with 30+ in shipping. they are *not* cheap
Nightmare. They are quite easy to come by in the UK
My local pet store sells them but they cost *40 Canadian dollars* T-T
No pet stores near me have fire belly toads even though there super popular!!!!!!!!!!
I've heard lots of people say this. Have you tried online?
@@JonsRainforestRoom I’m planning to do online if I still can’t find a store with them in the next few days do you know where a good online store is for them?
Only in the UK really...
3:57 "weekly water changes every week," nice
He looks like off brand Finn Balor
Thats a korean toad?
It's a fire belly toad 👍
@@JonsRainforestRoom ok
DUHHHHH
Welsh accent?
A lot of people call them pet's, I think it's time to change that word about amphibians, because they are not a pet, they are a hobby only animal, just like fish, it's a do not touch situation. 🙂✌️
WELL SAID ( i ask folks if they hold their fish) , research is the best thing to reccommend to all , heck , I did not know they were poisonous to other amphibians and reptiles , had to move them to their own tank , yet one got out
You can hold with non latex gloves
