- After 5 years waiting for restoration, finally the Avios Tropical Spitfire MkVb is back in the air. I've been waiting a long time for this!
She lost the nose after throwing a prop blade in flight, back in 2019.
Restored to her former looks, and converted to digital DJI in the process. I also replaced the old Henge pan servo with a butter smooth Check Six servo from Motionsic - I normally choose a BAG for this kind of install, but I would have had to chop up the 3d printed pilot, so I settled for just swapping the servo.
Thanks to Andy Moore for ground video, Barry Sace my competent observer, and Tom Connors flying the other Spitfire.

absolutely stunning.... I wish just once I could take my Avios Mk1a (mod from the mk5) over the english countryside instead of my home field on Long Island.
You can come fly at my field any time if you are over here Tom! Sure I can find you something to fly if you can't squeeze your Avios into your cabin bags!

Brilliant as ever John, did it throw a std Avios blade, and what are you using now? Lovely job on the restoration, nicely done.
Hi Matt - it was a stock blade and i am still using stock blades, while I have some left.
