It’s because they always have to account for him running. So they either take the outlet WR and let him gash them with his legs or try and tackle him and force him into a bad pass leaving the outlet wide open. It’s a lose-lose situation for the defense.

You'd be surprised. The 1st 6 seconds of this video - #6, #0, #23 - ALL could have ran harder and would've stopped Caleb from scoring. CU isn't going to play like that. If USC wins, they WILL earn it. CU has enough weapons and playmakers to compete against USC and they have a home-field advantage.
USC will get shown by Alabama, Georgia (naming a few), we’ll see how good they are playing teams that are ranked in the top 25, the Big 12, USC don’t really play teams other than non-ranked ones, at least no team that is a threat, obviously

I think the risk is too high. He’s the most NFL ready college QB in the nation and easily looks like the #1 pick. Arizona, Tampa and maybe the LA Rams will all tank this season for him. He’ll make nfl history signing the largest rookie contract.

This kid can flat out play. Must say he reminds me a lot of kyler Murray but that’s not necessarily a bad thing because he’s a lot bigger plus talent was never an issue with him it’s work ethic. Caleb can do great things if he goes the right system and stays out of trouble.

I could see Colorado having a close game with Oregon for the first half, but that Colorado defense gives up too soon. I think it will be 17 to 14 Colorado at half, and then Oregon will win 38 to 24. Not sure why the defenders just don’t destroy the QB on that USC sprint out pass play. They seem caught in a dilemma between the QB or WR when actually that is an opportunity to totally destroy an exposed QB that’s outside the pocket.
It’s because they place those defenders in a dangerous situation- go at the QB, that receiver is wide open; go at the WR/TE/RB, Caleb has some speed run for decent yardage- it truly is a pick your poison that works more often than not based on how the QB reads the coverage
To your point, a team like Utah would be coached to give up the TD and spear him in the head instead.
@@Trevor_H extremely fair - and that's the risk. The fact that Caleb has to make that split decision can lead to him getting blown up or a touchdown because he's unprotected - that's the trust that Riley has for Caleb and the receiver to make the play; football isn't a safe sport afterall

If you watch closer... Lincoln either called weird screen pass or run play without OLine opening up gaps, I think he's trying to not let future opponents have any valuable game films... The second Stanford scored a touchdown (which Lincoln even challenged it), USC back up scored back immediately...
