•••Throughout the span of my career, inspiration has come in various forms and in many subjects. The source for this piece is one that I have felt time and again, this being the passage of winter into spring. Day by day and week by week I see new life unfold from dormancy and beauty revealing itself in countless ways.
My desire as an artist is to capture the fleeting nature of spring as the hard, frozen soil gives way to the first hint of green, as branch gives life to blossom. This inspiration draws me out to paint en plein air and has me cutting and carrying blooms inside to be a part of my studio pieces. As these heralds of spring become my subjects, I find myself moved by the inherent symbolism of rebirth which offers me hope, a hope I desire to share.
