If metal isn't necessarily your cup of tea you might enjoy checking out Floors performances in the Dutch TV show Beste Zangers, besides her other performances with the band. There she covered the Vilja Lied from the Aria Merry Widow, Shallow by Lady Gaga, The Phantom of the Opera, but also dipped her toes into a salsa song among other songs. All with a bit of her own twist but all absolutely stunning and not as "metally" as her performances with Nightwish.

A Nightwish for christmas "Walking in the Air " cover, originally from the childrens movie Snowman from 1982. This one is with their original singer, Tarja Turunen.
Btw, I heard Sleeping Sun in late -90's with Tarja, and still like her version more, but that's a matter of taste. Both are great artists.

    • @carpediem5232
      @carpediem5232 Před 3 lety

@Barbara You simply can not say that Tarja was allways out of tune and has a "bad vibrato". I prefer Floors versions as well, but you are doing a disservice to the original singer. My biggest gripe with her performance was that she seemd always very focused on her classical technique and thus wasn't as free as Floor to make musical choices that allow the song shine and that aid in conveying the message. I also found the chemistry between the band and her a bit lacking there wasn't the spark you can see now. But she was very professional, and to say she always sang out of tune is not the truth.

    • @carpediem5232
      @carpediem5232 Před 3 lety

@Barbara To say that she was always out of tune is not an opinion, but a factual statement. I have no problem with your opinion, your factual claim is what I object to.

This song really brings me back to the moment this song was written about; a full solar eclipse in Europe in 1999. I was in the city and shared this amazing moment with complete strangers in total awe. I wish for this night-time
    To last for a lifetime
    The darkness around me
    Shores of a solar sea

  • @magnesiumrose
    @magnesiumrose Před 3 lety +14

For just Floor's vocals I would suggest her performances on a show called Beste Zangers. She sings other people's songs while adding light a rock/metal vibe to it. It's still subdued enough for those who typically don't like metal to enjoy.
For songs from Nightwish, I would recommend Dead Boy's Poem live at Buenos Aires 2018, Elan live at Wembley 2015(or the music video if you prefer), or if you want to hear the male vocalist/bassist(Marko) in Nightwish I would recommend The Islander live at Tampere 2015.
Elan doesn't have a lot of vocal tricks or variety, but it's upbeat and seems to be more popular with those who aren't super into metal. Dead Boy's Poem is definitely one I think you'll like both for its ballad style start and Floor's vocal performance. The Islander is also one that isn't nearly as harsh and for the most part is just an acoustic guitar and vocals. Marko shows a softer, but still powerful, side to his voice for a lot of it. He does get to display some power, range, and technique to it though. He is also an incredibly skilled vocalist.
I enjoy your explanations and pinpoints on what you like. Hopefully you'll find more by them that you enjoy!

Thank you for your reaction Lana, now it was enjoyable, the audio was of good quality, well done. Subcribed!
After your second Nightwish reaction I think I may have some idea what Nightwish songs you might like. Here are a couple of suggestions:
"The Islander" Tampere 2015, so that you would hear Marko, the bassist, on vocals. I think he is a great vocalist. I would really like to hear your opinion, since your focus is on vocals. And the song is definitely not too heavy, it's folky, with Celtic vibes. A beautiful song, and beautiful clean (this time) vocals by Marko.
Here's another one I believe you would like: "Elan" Live at Wembley Arena 2015. Again a beautiful song, melody, not too heavy.
    Hi again from Helsinki!
I really hope you keep on reacting to Nightwish. I'm sure you get a lot of suggestions to choose from.

Greetings, Lana, the Nightwish Army is upon you. 😉
    Great sound on this video!
I know you're more into vocals and this type of feel, which is why I think you're going to love this band, however, most of their songs are a bit on the heavy side but I'm sure Floor's versatility is going to make up for that.
    Floor- vocals
    Emppu- guitar
    Marko- Bass/Vocals
    Jukka- Drums
    Troy- multi instrumentalist
Tuomas- Founder/Keyboard player/composer of 95% of all music and lyrics. He also writes all the music and melodies for the orchestral and choir arrangements in the songs which are prerecorded by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the City of London Choir at Angel Recording Studios, London, under his supervision.
The band was founded in Finland in 1996. The original singer was Tarja Turunen but was dismissed in 2005.
Anette Olzon replaced Tarja in 2007 but also left in 2012 leaving Floor only 48 hours to learn the set before their next performance in Seattle, Washington on October 1, 2012.
Floor is trained in and teaches Opera and is also a vocal coach.
She has mastered her voice mechanism to such a degree that she could pretty much do anything she wants with it.
You've heard he's soft side, her belt in G5 on Ghost Love Score, the rasp in her voice, but that is just the tip of the iceberg. You are going to enjoy your journey. The rabbit hole goes deep, so buckle up and enjoy the ride.
For your next reaction, I recommend "Romanticide" or "Ever Dream", from the Wacken Open Air Festival 2013.
Thank you for the video, reaction and comments. Stay safe and stay blessed. 😊❤🤘🤘

Great reaction from you 👍 🤘 and please don't be afraid of the word "metal" in music. The metal world consists of some of the most talented and gifted musicians on earth - from composers to the singers and everything in between. I know metal is automatically linked to death screaming and growling, but I assure you that that is only a small part of the metal scene. Symphonic Metal is precisely what is says, and to compose that, including very very deep lyrics - plus having singers able to do both worlds - that demands special skills.
As some of the other suggest please react to
Dead Boy's Poem from Buenos Aires 2018.
    My Walden, Tampere 2015
    Alpenglow, Tampere 2015
And then you should really consider the acoustic version of "How is the Heart" from Planet Rock Radio - it is Floor and Troy on a promotion tour this spring, doing a mind blowing performance live in Planet Rock Radio studio.
You would suggest that you do it as a double session, doing the original "How is the Heart" from the new Nightwish Album Human Nature - just to see and feel the similarities and differences. It is a really nice quiet peace of music, but extremely difficult to sing - just try it yourself,!!
Keep up your great reaction 👌 🤘 🤘

New here, Lana, from Australia. Nightwish since 1996. Maybe react to "Walking In The Air" by Nightwish from End of An Era, 2005, with their first singer, Tarja Turunen. It's similar to this. I'll have to watch your reaction to Ghost Love Score. Subbed.... A perfect Nightwish song for Halloween is "Scaretale" with their second singer, Anette Olzon. The video with the movie footage ("Imaginaerum" by Nightwish - very Tim Burton-ish!) is the one I'd recommend. There is another good video which combines live and movie footage too.

The first Nuclear Blast blu-ray had coding/compression problems which affected speed but not pitch. Nightwish had words with them. The second release blu-ray and DVD are okay

    Hello Lana!
Wow, great make up: you look awesome!
👻 Spooky songs? "Scaretale" by Nightwish, but it's Anette Olzon's (their 2nd and previous singer) signature song...
Another one should be the Voiceplay's (a Capella group) version of "Oogie Boogie Song" from Tim Burton's Nightmare before Christmas (Geoff singing LOOOOW notes ⤵️😱)
🎅 Christmas songs? "Walking in the air" cover by Nightwish (again: not Floor on vocals but their first singer, Tarja Turunen) or "Little Drummer Boy" cover by GENTRI (the video is heartbreaking beautiful, so...LOT OF TISSUES!💔😢)
But before all the songs above mentioned, I would really like to see you smiling thanks to Floor's voice✨😁✨: *please react to "Elan" by Nightwish* .
I think it's the right song to hand-in-hand bring you out of your sweet shyness!☺️🤝😉
    Greetings from Italy!👋🇮🇹🖖

You cannot say you are not a metal fan before mandatory reaction to
*Pisces* by Jinjer, live studio session
But beware: Floor is our Valkirie Metal Goddes, but Tati (Jinjer vocalist) can turn you into a metalhead in just a matter of seconds. She did it before, she can do it again.
But for now, enjoy your NW journey: you barely scratched the surface of this band. Fasten your seatbelt, get beer, popcorn and candies, and you will soon discover why Tuomas (Keyboard and mastermind of the band) is also known as The Metal Mozart.
Nightwish Army will be here to guide you, pointing to you every detail, fun facts, backgound and enjoying every minute of the ride with you.
Last couple of tips, that goes with NW and with every metal band:
    - Live performances, when properly recorded, are usually better then studio versions.
    - Keep the lyrics at hand: many of them are poetry in themselves
That's all for today, and on a second thought…
    _I think it's time for a little story…_
    _…it's definitly,_ *Storytime*

Please make a reaction to a young, very popular singer in world. Videos from this singer collect hundreds of millions of views. Diana Ankudinova is now only 17 years old. She has a very unique, very deep, clear voice.
Dr. Marc Reynolds (Voice Teacher, Stage Director, Performance Coach and Consultant, and Acting Coach) said about the performance of this girl:
Really really exceptional! Even if you ignore her age, even is she was 10, 20, 30 years older, this is still a really exceptional performer here that we're seeing. But at her age, unbelievable. Really really exceptional! Absolutely gorgeous! And again, not just because of her voice, because her performing, watching how nuanced and engaging her performance is. Ah, it's just so stunning. It's absolutely amazing.
