Love my sealed trangia burner from firebox and being able to store fuel in it. Works so well with my nano and 5in firebox. It's so durable and it actually cools down really fast for how robust it is.

I've found that just for boiling water don't use the Nano sticks, put the Trangia burner on the bottom drop down grate, can't comment on other makes of burner though. Also for searing steaks in a pan the same low position too.

Great comparison video 💪🏽 For the Trangia Triangle I suggest putting two of the three pieces together, then inserting the inner metal brace to then put on the third metal piece. Works every time. Also if you get the Evernew Titanium cross stands (fits right into the kit and sits perfectly across the trangia burner itself) you can then use any mug/pot without issues.

Thanks for the tip on the triangle, I do have the Cross stands but then you tend to need an additional wind protector up here so I don’t tent to use it! I’ve used the toaks stand since and it stayed together, I just don’t like how the siphon is hard to put out

@@mattsmindfulmeals5981 I just move the pot stand out of the way then put the pot directly on the Toaks Syphon for a couple of seconds. This snuffs out the flame nicely.

@@mattsmindfulmeals5981 Another tip is to try to guage (roughly) how much bioethanol it'll use for the volume of water you need to heat. (In my tests, its around 7g for a mug of coffee. ) The benefit being that if you happen to knock the burner over, then much less fuel is wasted and there's less to tip back into your fuel bottle once burner has cooled. I tightly wrap the burner in a small Ziploc freezer bag which prevents the remaining residuals of fuel from evaporating before your next use of the burner.

Oh, and being titanium, it cools really quickly.

You have assembled the Toaks alcohol stove pot stand incorrectly, suprised it does not continue to fall apart..You have the tabs pocking out, they should poke into the centre. Convex surfaces of each plate outmost: tabs poke through the slots from the outside through to the inside. It is very ridged once assembled.
As my explanation may not be clear, Google the iten and see ittustrations of it assembled.
    Thanks for sharing.

Another good one! I thought for sure you'd go for the bigger Firebox. I'm currently dehydrating a bunch of fruits and vegetables for backpacking meals. I'm making them separately, then will blend the veggies to make a soup mix that I can add to any type of meal. I'm thinking a stew made from homemade pemmican. I'll boil up the dehydrated meat and toss in a handful of my dried soup mix and a bullion cube in my Billy pot, and it should make a pretty good meal. Maybe use some dehydrated potatoes to thicken it a little.
I dehydrated some eggs several years ago, then canned the powder and put it up in the pantry. I believe maybe I should take it out and test it to see how it fared over time. Haven't dehydrated any soups or stews, though.

Great video Matt, thank you. We've been using BaseCampFoods for a while and echo your comments, fantastic customer service. Love the Real Termat range but also like the ActivEat range. Mind you we've not had a bad meal from BCF. In cold weather put the pouch in your sleeping bag whilst it's rehydrating. It insulates the pouch and also warms up your sleeping bag. We've been making our own instant porridge from milk powder, oats, sugar and other stuff like chopped dried apple, raisins and cinnamon. we carry it in a 1 litre water container and rehydrate with boiling water in a mug. It's cheap and lightweight and you can make it as sweet as you like. How's about a video on rehydrating?

Have you seen what happens to the Trangia burner 'O' ring when you store Bio-ethernol in it for any length of time. Not good!

Use Heet in the yellow bottles in the US. Easily available at gas stations and big box stores. NOT the red bottles.

    Great Video Matt,,,
I think maybe a Shepherds pie bake,,, This meal goes back to my early childhood,, school lunches and into my married life. Although my wife modified it by using Tot’s instead of mash potatoes. I couldn’t believe it,,, last week when I came home,, my wife had “Mushy Pea’s” on the stove,,,, she was surprised that I guessed it right off.
Where did you get the Trangia Triangle,,???
    Great Review,,,, Joshua
