  • @user-yp3oj5se1i

Fury was talking to him, goading him and encouraged Cunningham to get more aggressive and unleash lots of powerful swinging punches. One of them knocked Fury down, his best punch didn't stop Fury and Fury got up from it without stumbling and started to overpower him.
Basic boxing knowledge is to not let your opponent alter your fight plan. Fury turned it into a brawl and Cunningham fell for it hook line sinker.
Did he not know before the fight that Fury was big, more powerful? When Roy Jones jr used his forearm to knock down Calzaghe the ref didn't notice and allowed it as a knockdown, theses things happen but Calzaghe came back he had the energy to get up and come back, Cunningham didn't he was exhausted because he tried to knockout Fury.
If he felt he was the better boxer why didn't he fight like that?

Cunningham complaining Fury’s bigger is hilarious. If you can’t stand the heat, then get out of the kitchen but don’t forget to have a whinge about it first. Pure churlishness. One thing Fury did take away from this fight which proved important, was his susceptibility to the overhand right. Peter Fury addressed that by later employing Cunningham as a sparring partner for the D. Haye fight that never happened.

The reason being he was very slippery, I couldn’t pin him down. He was light on his feet, weighing 208lbs, he was a cruiserweight champion and he stepped up into heavyweights. He was a slick, talented boxer and I tried to walk him down, use my size and power, but he was just outboxing me. What I’m good at - boxing, moving, slipping and sliding - I couldn’t do against Steve Cunningham because he was quicker than me. It was like he was a better boxer all round than me, and he’d knocked me over even though he was a light puncher."
