    I've had one of these for around 10 years. I love mine. Wife and I used it recently during a power outage. Also own two of the single candle ones in brass.

      I want to get the single to throw in my back pack. We love the atmosphere our UCO gives when camping. Much better than bright LED lights. Not as convenient but definitely much better atmosphere!

      @@WeLiveALot I just love simplicity. Can't get much more simple than a candle lantern. Also why I use alcohol stoves. No moving parts means nothing to break.

      @@WeLiveALot that’s the one I started out with not the tea light but the single. It packs down well. I like the light of the three. But for packwise. I rather not tote it along. Kinda kicking around picking up another single one to pack two instead of just one.
      It would of been great if they made the bigger 3 candle one slide into itself like they did with the single one. I would definitely be packing the bigger one if that was the case.
      But since it don’t I don’t. It would just be all around better. Least I’m my eyes. It would be more compact. And in the compacted mode it would protect better the glass being inside of itself like the other one. But there both great pieces of kit

      @@AquaTech225 for sure! If they made the 3 candle more compact and lighter I'd carry it with me too!

      Question for everyone thst used these. I keep reading tbe candle wax melts down and is very difficult to clean off. SoMe reported it even drips down Into the springs and hard t o get wax cleaned out enough to replace new candles
      Had this been an issue for anyone??

    I hung the tealight candle version from a tree and walked away from campsite. I was very surprised just how much light I could see from a distance. Deep in woods in total darkness that UCO tealight was so much light it guided me back to camp very easy. I have tried the original version with tall fat candle and it didn't go well for me. Seems the spring and candle didn't do what it is supposed to do causing the candle to melt everywhere and leaked made a mess.

    I have one of these I use in my tent. I let it burn all night in the winter. Don't get mad, it's a 3 season tent and it's a 7x9 dome with a 4x9 porch. I don't use it so much for the heat, but to help reduce the condensation. It doesn't get rid of it all, but if I had to guess, I would say about 50%. Some is better than nothing.

    You have a thermometer right there. How about some actual temps, and not just how you think it feels.

    Also, get a wood stove fan to help heat a tent with the Candelier.

    Best review of this thing, there is a fire ban in CO and we are tent camping next weekend.......no electric and don't want propane. Will do the extra tarp for insulation, only thing missing from science st standpoint is exact numbers on temp in tent vs outside with this thing...still will get one....real fire, even a candle is much more relaxing then a Chinese made propane heater...jonnyt16 also a good point, do an addendum review with temp an CM output, would be good to know if you go to sleep you wont wake up dead.

      Eclipse, thank you for your kind words. Maybe I'll do another video on the CM output. The candlelight really is the best!

    Great video. I was considering buying one of these Candlelier lanterns. Got a question though...do you think they put out enough carbon monoxide to be dangerous inside a tent or truck bed/camper shell? Thanks.

    • @WeLiveALot
      @WeLiveALot  Před 4 lety +4

      That's a great question. After doing some research, yes, candles do put off carbon monoxide. It should be harmless if the room your in has ventilation. I'd say a tent would almost always be fine but a truck shell might have less ventalilation. My suggestion would be to also get a carbon monoxide detector to keep with you in a truck shell. This will allow you to detect and see if the CO gets to dangerous levels. I'm thinking it wont unless you really have the shell sealed off. That's what I gathered from my research. I strongly suggest you also look into this before .aking a decision. Thanks for the great question!

    I think you could get a better boil time if you took off the chimney cap as long as there was sufficient space to air to get inside the lantern.

      That's a good call. I think you're right. I think oxygen could still get in the chamber just fine.

    Hi I would use led lighting in the summer, and candles in the winter when the heat given off will help to keep you warm?

    How do you snuff out the candles without touching a hot surface? Does it come with a candle snuffer?

    Do you think you could you sleep with this in a truck Camper if it was hanging up securely out of the way?

    • @WeLiveALot
      @WeLiveALot  Před 2 lety +1

      I think it would be fine! However, I do recommend always have a battery powered CO2 meter in there with you just in case. I'd be shocked if it ever set it off but it's always better safe than sorry.

    I have that plus others of that brand on my Amazon shopping list, I am also moving away from using batteries for everything and switching to USB powered items which are more reliable than normal batteries.

    when using this for heat would you need to crack a window in a van?

    • @WeLiveALot
      @WeLiveALot  Před 3 lety +2

      I probably would. Or you could get a CO detector just to make sure the levels never get too high.

    I think the UCO citronella candles suck to be honest. It’s almost like they put the bare minimum into them of citronella. Even with 3 burning at once it’s not much help if any sadly.
    So kicking around making a mold getting wicks an things an the citronella oil an doing my own candles. I don’t find the blue to be any different than the white ones. Other than price an color. When they burn I can barely even smell any of the repellent

    • @WeLiveALot
      @WeLiveALot  Před 3 lety

      I haven't burned the citronella yet. We have some other things we burn for bugs so I hadn't actually used mine yet. That's good to know though!
