    When I was a new mom 20 years ago a friend made several cloths and small blankets from flannel very much like this. I used them constantly. Flannel squares in various sizes are tremendously useful for anyone caring for a messy little creature of any description. ❤

    That was a lovely video, I really enjoyed it.
    It's always sad to hear of the closure of fabric shops, I don't even know where my nearest one is and I live in a large, well populated conurbation with many towns and cities. I hate buying fabric or yarn online though because you can't touch it (or smell it! I know that's a bit strange).
    Soot was a very enthusiastic assistant on this particular project!
    Oh, I must just add that I made handkerchiefs from flannel several years ago, they are perfect when one has a cold, very gentle on the nose.

      I agree, flannel is so soft and nice! And yeah, being able to touch the fabric in person makes such a difference!

    This is how we make handkerchiefs. They work for so many things. I like to soak them in water with a little vinegar to make them more absorbent.

    Thank you for helping new parents in recovery look after their little ones. What an outstanding use for going- out- of- business flannel covered in cheery baby prints! I bet the former owner of that fabric store would be very pleased to know that this fabric is out there in the world doing some good for people in need of help. A damp bit of flannel is perfect for washing a little one's sensitive skin. Much better than a scratchy old paper towel or a drying alcohol wipe- plus nothing goes into the landfill. WIN_WIN_WIN_WIN!!! Kudos for a wonderful, thoughtful, inspiring video!

    It was so nice to see this video today! I've been discouraged by all of the things that are wrong in this world lately and how hopeless it all seems. But this was an excellent reminder that in the midst of it all, there are still people whose small acts of kindness make things a little better for another person and that we can all still choose to be kind. Thank you for all that you do! ♥♥♥

    NICU units in hospitals is another good place, they usually have patterns for the things they need and use. 👍🏼 One of my favourite things I make with flannel is a double blanket, made sort of like a pillow case with rounded corners ( I use about half a little plate to make sure the round corners are the same). Once turned back right sides out I top stitch all around to get it closed up properly and then go around again about 2-3 inches in from the edge. People love them as they are thicker and can be used in a crib, or for tummy time , burping clothes, lots of uses. 👍🏼
    Glad you found somewhere to take the cloths✌️🙋🏼‍♀️

    Your kitty reminds me of my own, always close by when I was crafting. She is missed. Your idea is pretty helpful. One of the stores here about has flannel cloth for not much sometime, I will adopt this idea and extend with some suspender snaps sewed on elastic, so the cloths can be used while feeding the little ones, too. I love this idea.

    Hello! Just found your channel and absolutely love it! ❤️Your voice is so soothing in these trouble times! Could you please tell me more about your handcrank sewing machine. I am handicapped and would absolutely love to sew. Do you know where I could purchase one? I am in the USA but would pay to ship one here.

    • @KristineVike
      @KristineVike  Před 7 měsíci

      My handcrank machine was a lucky find at a small antique fair local to me. These were very common machines in both Europe and America, and a still fairly plentiful. Depending on the accomodation needs there are different types of antique machines. Some even retrofitted with electricity!
