Star Wars Battlefton Classic collection launch has been a complete disaster at this point. However Aspyr have had plenty of fixes for the game be added in updates. Aspyr plans to fix the Star Wars Battlefront Classic collection, but is it too little, too late? - Hry

@@wobba4436 Not the videos, the textures. EVERY texture for every asset, no matter how small, was lazily ran through an AI upscaler to *4k* resolution. That tiny little bacta tank has the same texture size as the AT-AT. A single uncompressed 4k texture with normal map can take about 60-80 MB of storage space apiece; multiply that for every single individual weapon, character, scenery object, vehicle, etc. in the game and that explains the *50-60 GB* filesize.
For reference, that same 4K texture can be compressed down to about 8-10 MB. There was just zero effort put into this lazy cashgrab, and I'm glad it's blowing up in their face.
Ngl, it does make me happy to at least have the backwards compatible versions of the original battlefront and battlefront II

If you want to give Aspyr your money for crap instead of a refund that is fine… but you do have a choice.
This is actually way worse than MCC because MCC had 4 games with an actual remaster. New menus and music. It sounds challenging to make that game but battlefront literal grabbed the PC version and cleaned up the resolution and it broke the game.
that is not even mentioning the fact that the game has 4 player online splitscreen. instead of adding that to bf classic collection they removed it only allowing 2 players.
Though it’s being fixed, it doesn’t remove the disdain the Star Wars community received.

Grow up, yall cry and complain while repeating the same exact shit over and over. Just pretend the game just came out like damn. Devs have ridiculous timelines that are usually a result of investor involvement and can't always iron out the bugs by day 1. Not to mention the unforeseen issues that come with the launch of a game, especially ones with multiplayer focus. Grown men crying over a game that's obviously going to be fixed is so cringe. I can't stand the gaming community, a whole bunch of self righteous, impatient, whining bot followers repeating the same points they heard from everybody else.

@@proper9095Exactly, nothing is ever going to be perfect. There always can be stuff that gets overlooked and slips through the cracks. I’m not making any excuses for the game developers messing up but stuff happens. I personally am going to wait a little bit as far as playing the game for some of those bugs to get worked out (I did make my purchase on it just today on March 21st) but I see these games as an opportunity to relive what was personally one of the few good childhood memories I had and while I didn’t play the first Battlefront, I did play the second one on the PS2 (my first PlayStation console I played on, never played on a PS1) which with Battlefront 2 I had so much fun playing Conquest and Capture The Flag.

I already own BF2 (2005) on steam. Picked this disaster up, played roughly 45min & refunded. Even if it’s fixed I won’t touch this game unless it’s on sale for $5 lol

The story mode in BF2 is STILL missing end mission cutscenes

Should've been working from the start. I hate these devs releasing half-assed games that barely work. It's honestly baffling how it is possible to make these things worse. It's like they lost the ability to create games properly. The industry is in shambles.

Aspyr did not steal the mod, it was released under MIT license which allows them to use it commercially, they lied about crediting everyone involved but the MIT License doesn't legally force them to do that.
I would offer them a compensation if it was my company but they have no legal obligations to do so.

AFAIK the MIT license actually requires crediting, so that's pretty much stealing the work, iow attributing the work to themselves.

Can't even aim in SWBF2 cause of horrible aim sensitivity.
They had everything, ALL they had to do was remaster, maybe update the audio. The adding of 2004 maps to BFII, maybe adding a mode or two to multiplayer, and add online which by now is super easy and common.
My main problem with this game is that even though the multiplayer is broken the single player is also not to an appropriate standard which sucks. Why is half of the cutscenes for battlefront two missing.
This is why I'm going to go retro. I'm saving money for a modded PS2 to emulate games Digitally. I know this gaming industry is headed for another game crash

The issue I have with sound is that my sound is backwards. My right headphone is playing the left and vice-versa. Sounds infront are happening behind and also vice-versa. Also note my headphones are designed in their shape to only fit the ear they belong to, so right can only go in the right ear because if you try to use it on the opposite it will hurt it.
Multiplayer isnt working currently at the moment for me on ps5 for bf1 or 2
regardless if it's getting fixed or not still doesn't set things right. aspyr released it knowing full well it wasn't up to par, and the ensuing backlash will mean the player base will be much lower now anyway

@@thecustomman well it works at all, so yes I would say it works better. There's still the dumbest glitches they need to fix like textures melting into collages of colorful pixels, cantina band earrape on hero assault and ai path finding is kind of atrocious on certain maps, like naboo.

That's good news for the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection being fixed.
As a fan of gaming and Star Wars this is kind of a double disappointment. First with gaming it’s of course annoying that games always release half baked and glitchy to begin unlike back in the day. Second for Star Wars. Ever since Disney bought it, of course there are plenty of areas Disney has dropped the ball with Star Wars. It’s worst with gaming. Before Disney, back when LucasArts was a thing and it was all still under George Lucas there were so many amazing Star Wars videos that are still revered as classics today including these as their new title shows. Star Wars has so much content that should be perfect for video games. Ever since Disney took over though the gaming scene for Star Wars has been super scarce and often not that great.
I got the collection on PS5. Have played a bit and enjoy it but honestly I’ve mostly just had fun going back and playing galactic conquest, at least that in my experience has been pretty bug free.

I had taken a break for a couple days and just came back tonight (Xbox) it works a lot better now. Full multiplayer servers running about as smooth as can be expected on a game from 2005. Patch isnt out on Xbox yet so that means a lot of work was done server side

why do people forget the fact that the collection has NO 4 playersplitscreen. only 2. even as a couch co op game the game is downgraded. even tho more graphically demanding games like mcc have that and online splitscreen. there is no excuse for this.

I'm a hardcore Legends star wars fan I bought the classic collection and will stick with it.
If you wanna play them online, just download the classic versions and install the patch mods. Modders did this shit on pc 10+ years ago already
There's been no update on ps5, and from the looks of it the modders force orb animation and bare hands fighting is not present.
I think in a while the game is gonna be fine but I sincerely don't understand what's the point of releasing it in a broken state when there was no need to announce it until it was finished, I wonder if it has anything to do with the changes Disney is making to games with their IP
They gave no credit to any modders that had their content used in the game. Yeah there’s a license but they make it out like they did it themselves, at least thank the people that have kept this game going for you for years, complete laziness and cash grab. Everyone should refund the game on steam and see how they panics lol
Did Battlefront classic collection need to be released? Probably not. Was it cool to get a port to modern consoles? Yeah but, it wasn’t executed well. Why did I buy it? In hopes that I could play split screen with my brothers and friends again. But, I am a 21 y/o and my siblings are all older than me so it wasn’t worth it. I don’t regret buying but, in hindsight it wasn’t worth it.
I love how if u read the XL gamemode details it literally says some things may not function correctly. Great game 10/10
couch co-op would be great if it saved progression on instant action after you exit. Stuff that was from the original games didn’t even make it to the port. Fingers crossed that aspyr makes things right

Played it today on a Xbox console. Very hard to fly and shoot with a controller. I didn't know how to control the speed of my ship or character, shooting anything is much more difficult. Keyboard and mouse is the proper way to play this classic game. Except for multiplayer issues, the complaints about this game are minor compared to how difficult it is to use a gaming controller.

When they gonna add thw rest of the soundtrack back into this game? The levels seem lacking in lots of the iconic music...and the victory music is beyond different...if they dont fix those then the game aint gonna ever be good
Back around the 2000s I used just play offline and play the campaigns and conquest mode

I play on Xbox and everything works fine for me except for the controller support on battlefront 2. The controls are really stiff and for some reason I have a really bad controller drift which isn’t there on the backwards compatible version or any other game for that matter. Please someone let me know if this is happening to them too because it’s driving me nuts.
I’m glad I didn’t pre-order it. I had a feeling this would happen. Hopefully they fix these issues so I can enjoy a remaster of my favorite games as a kid.

I feel kinda dirty for giving Aspyr my money already (wanted to play the kotor games on my switch) and those ports were pretty damn lazy with issues like crashing that got rid off all your progress because these games are old as hell and they didn't put any effort into QOL improvements like modern auto saving
It works better on console. Slightly upgraded graphics is about it really. Not a fan of the two main cheat codes unlimited health and infinite ammo inputs. It's a bit ridiculous cause the whole dpad moves when you press one, messing with individual inputs I think.
The biggest thing for me though was that they made a third of these classics and from what I understand that one was pretty much g2go. Kinda hoping that there would be maps and campaigns that could've been added to like 2 I think would've worked well.

I purchased the game to go ahead and have it, but I’m not going to download it until after the bugs get fixed. This isn’t any sort of waste for me, it’s an opportunity to relive my childhood with some of the few good memories I did have in it. The PlayStation 2 was my first PlayStation console I ever played on and I played the second Battlefront game but never the first one so I’ll love the chance to get to experience both. I remember trying out both versions of EA’s Battlefront games and was disappointed that it wasn’t anything like this or maybe have their own stuff while keeping things to their roots. On Battlefront 2, I loved Conquest and Capture The Flag the most.

Aspyr sucks and SAID they were giving us a modern (2024) online fumctionality. And now they shouldnt have given us a useable/decently working 20 yr old game, it shouldve been a fully working 20 yr old game since the normal version was fine and works better then the "remastered/"AI" upscaled" collection.
Aspyr didnt do Ai remastering or any upscaling, probably but graphics on High/Extreme, took mod files from sites then put it in a collection, sold it and called it theirs, Thats all Aspyr did and does.
Also crediting modders/mods is EASY, if you payed attention, Aspyr has their own damn Logo on the collection a few times in some loading screens, easily couldve done it.
They didn’t steal the animations from the modder. They are aloud to use them.

Which by the way, academy works perfectly fine. And also yeah, the buggy servers in the collection is a let down. BUT, I am a single player type of guy so I don't really have to worry.

Personally I don't think we should repurchase, even if they did fix all of the issues in that release 100%, considering that this is the standard modern business practice. If we will "come back to it" regardless of any "better state", it will just give the incentive to these companies to keep on pulling these stunts, we will keep getting pissed to no end, ad infinitum et nauseum. Keep your refunds for something that way more deserving of your hard earned money and faaaaar more worth while. Fuck these companies.

They just run it through some computer programs to allegedly enhance the game slap a price on it and release it no testing no nothing I mean look at the GTA trilogy that got a remaster they maybe spent $2 to enhance a game then over charge you for them doing practically nothing yeah the sky looks better great job😂

None of the bugs have been fixed. That update hasn't hit Xbox yet at all. Galactic conquest is still broken.
