In this video, we are going to be going for the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection Platinum Trophy. The Platinum Trophy can be challenging due to the Unlock the Increased Damage Bonus trophy which requires you to Reach legendary War Hero status by getting 64 medals

To answer the question. The game playing single player and collecting trophies is fine. It’s ALMOST entirely as it was.
Currently the servers are unplayable for me. If you’re looking to play online. Probably hold off.
That being said it’s a lazy port with issues that didn’t exist in the originals and will be upsetting for nostalgic fans.
damn, I've been playing it since release, and mp almost works perfectly, PS seems to get the short end of the stick lol.
Apparently the switch version is the best. I play it on PC.
Well is it really the same, missing cut scenes, graphic bugs, sound issues
I would rather play the backwards compatible Xbox versions honestly. Better in nearly every conceivable way.

I wish Star wars games still had quality control. On one hand we have the dark Forces remaster by Night dive Studios, which is as flawless as a 1995 game could possibly be, and on the other we have this wet fart of a port. Lucas Arts was a massive loss for enjoyers of games.
Completely agree. I want to give Dark Forces a go as-well.
They didn’t have to do much to make this a good remaster and it still was a let down. Especially in the online department.

The films and shows don't have quality control, so why would the games?
The dark forces game on PC has not bendy listed the major reason why is because some people actually still still have the original hardware and want to be able to play it. Plus they want to keep it around for historical sake

It feels like there are forces at play that are deliberately trying to ruin this franchise in anyway shape or form.

I suspect it's domestic or foreign state actors trying to devalue our IPs, which are actually a very powerful tool when it comes to influencing other countries. I mean look at Russia, there are still Russian men on the streets wearing New York Yankee hats despite the relations between our countries being the worst they've ever been.

Trophies or not I'd rather just play the original with mods and the conversion pack that puts all of the Battlefront 1 mods into Battlefront 2. Hell, I've played this collection at my brothers (he has a PS5) and I told him the game looks worse than the original so we went to my place and I showed him my Battlefront 2 and he was like "damn, what the hell?". Asspyre have no idea how to develop games, even when the golden ticket is in their hands and the game has already been basically done for them.
There are singular modder's who can pull off more magic than that studio and I'm not even kidding.
Then you have the new movies and it's like they are just trying to kill off the series. I've never been a huge fan of Star Wars but my wife and I do a movie marathon of the first 6 movies (the new ones aren't worth watching) on may the 4th and yeah, the series used to be great and even the prequels aren't terrible but the new ones are pure garbage.
Star Wars reminds me of LOTR in that the more the movies go on the worse the quality gets. I can honestly say that Fellowship of the Ring is probably my favorite movie of all time (and yes I know Tom Bombadil and other parts from the books were omitted) because of the acting, scenery, and musical score alone and The Empire Strikes Back is up there as well in my top 10 but as the series went on it just got worse.
What they did to the most iconic loading screen in video game history is unforgivable
I didn’t notice it on the ps5 version, but I have seen the clips elsewhere
They changed the fonts in both games to some generic font too which makes me almost as mad as the loading screen sound change 😭

Two more things to mention for those not aware:
1. The cheat codes of the original games are still available and don't disable trophies/achievements, making the BF2 campaign and some medals a lot quicker to get done. BF1's only cheat code worth using though is to unlock all campaign missions but you can't earn the trophy from simply skipping to the last mission of either campaign.
2. BF2's Rise of the Empire campaign gives you the option to skip space battle missions and this doesn't affect your campaign trophy progress, so feel free to skip them if not good at space battles or simply wanting things to go quicker.
I used the cheats for the last few it’s a handy trick, I didn’t know about skipping space battles, I enjoyed going through them anyway, but good to know!

@@wardenofwisps442 If talking about them not showing up on the post-battle screen, they're still accumulating. Playing on Xbox, I noticed the achievement percentage going up despite them not showing up after the battle.
I had the same exact green screen crash scenario you had, down to the massive updates after rebuilding the ps5 database and corrupted save file. I have never had a game crash and turn my ps5 off like that. I thought my console was bricked for a second. I wish anyone but aspyr did this port because this is never going to get fixed. Greedy scumbag company.
Same here I thought the console was toasted. Was it for the update file as-well or in the same place? Clearly its not tested and fit for purpose

The order 66 trophy with knocking them off gets updated by going back to main menu or finishing the match basically. I guess it gets updated when it reads the scoreboard or something.
Right, that’s still weird it popped when it did but that would make sense!
The ai could spin the ship around for you (I always did it this way since the original 2004), you just need to be close enough to the AT-AT and have enough room for the ai to fly around it without crashing, switch position in the ship, aim for the leg and done.
I just recently did it when the collection game released.
Someone else mentioned this! I did try it but they crashed like 3 times so I just tried flying myself instead 😅
Nah man, even in the originals whenever you try this the AI just flies like an idiot and crashes. I love watching them try to take off in a landing craft in an enemy hangar too

It’s predominantly an online game but I tend to play online more anyway
I will probably wait a month or 2 before buying it and hopefully most of the game breaking bug are ironed out.

A little FYI,.. you can just get on instant action, cutomize it how you want and get the trophies easily.
Thats what I did for the last few medals, with the invincibility cheat aswell

Im just stoked to play these after 15 years. Sure i wish there was higher sensitivity in the controls(im used to waaayy more) but after a few minutes its fine. No problems with online play and even have people to play with. I was skeptical about it being announced like two weeks before release but, im having loads of fun!

My friend and i played a few hours of splitscreen and had a blast just like we did nearly 20 years ago.
Honestly thats the only way to play it at the moment. The online is just broken currently.

I can explain the presence of Rhen Var. it was featured heavily in the 2002 Clone Wars video game also developed by Pandemic, which is why it made it into the game. It had a decent sized presence in the now-legends Clone Wars Multimedia Project.

These games were/are/will always be great multiplayer games. They didn’t need DLC packs to finish the games production back then. The second anyone was allowed to play as a hero or a villain when you earned enough points to do so. Plus you weren’t able to buy your way to get the best soldiers back then. Along with being great games that you could play for hours with friends and rarely get tired of them. Single player campaigns for these multiplayer games back then. Were secondary to the main function of being great multiplayer games.
It’s a shame the multiplayer isn’t working very well at the moment but completely agree. Great game design
Not to mention, they made the legendary Battlefront 2 in just ONE YEAR of development time. A game that it took DICE two games, and then still another 2-3 years of post-launch updates before they finally came up with a product that half-resembled what Pandemic had already done 15 years earlier.
I’m honestly having a good time on it yes the online is buggy but they didn’t kinda fix it the 2nd day. I hope they continue to work on it because it’s fun despite the bugs

Easiest way for critical rocket is Hoth as rebel with 0 IA setup . You take a speeder for fast travel and with your rocket you aim big walker neck
I'm working on this right now, and I think grinding out the trophies by doing just that would make this unenjoyable; however, I find this to be an actually good trophy list. What I consider a good trophy list are ones that promote experimentation and using all of the gameplay tools the game has to offer, which the Battlefront II one does. This is also one of the many cases where following a guide to grind out the trophy probably worsens the experience. I plan to finish mine up through Galactic Conquest and a challenge run I've been working on.
I think they could’ve easily added more trophies in that required you to do different things aswell, or at least have the medal grind, but remove some of the middle ones for doing simple tasks. Theres just no variation to 99% of the trophies and that sucks. I get like youre extending it and casually going for it but still, for me it was just tedious.
The most enjoyable trophies are for doing things such as taking down an AT-AT or knocking a jedi off for me.
I can't speak for everyone, but I only like having 2-3 of those types of trophies in any list unless it's the type of game that thrives on multiple playthroughs (such as BG3 for example) where the player is being presented with a way of theming their next playthrough of the game (multiple ending trophies like in Elden Ring are good like this too). I enjoy the feedback loop of getting trophies sprinkled in like this over the course of the platinum, and ones like this give me reasons to try out different challenge runs too.
When there are too many of these "miscellaneous" trophies, as I think you called them (I could be wrong as I don't have the time to rewatch the video), I find that the completion process eventually boils down to me looking up guides for cleaning up these and it creates an unsatisfying conclusion to the final pop.
I've been slowing working through it, like I said, and when I finish, I plan to make a review for my channel, covering the way I did it. It could be cool to compare. @@JohnCalum

Aspyr is like literally patching both TRI-III Remaster Starring Lara Croft and Battle Front Collection.
Hope both get a faithful patch since both aren't polish still and TRI-III Remaster Starring Lara Croft got a patch 1 but still not polished and achievements got a translation error for English.
Hope all games patches gets resolved.
Frustrating as both of the games should have been released without the need for any patches
Awesome video! The execute order 66 trophy was the last one I went for and I got super lucky, an AI killed darth Vader by blasting him off and it popped the trophy for me, even though I was empire.
And as for the snowspeeder ATAT trophy, it’s actually WAY easier to let the ai drive and you use the cable. The ai actually circles them flawlessly and all you gotta do is hold the button.

I saw someone else say the same thing about the Order 66 trophy, they got it immediately after spawning into a game, seems really buggy.
With the AT-AT’s I tried letting the AI fly but twice they got shot down and crashed for me, might have just been my luck.

Actually: There IS tutorial for the first one, but the cinematic and the promts on the first mission to help you are missing from the collection. I checked the original on console and there is a cinematic just before the mission to tell you what the objective is, it's not present in the collection.
Ahh… Another thing to add to the list of missing things. Thats frustrating.
I wish we had trophies for completing Galactic Conquest as every faction in both games. It would have been fun to do.

Renvar if im not mistaken was used in the devoplers first starwars game "starwars the clonewars" game where your mostly in a tank. You go their to a ancient jedi temple to learn about a sith super weapon from the force ghost of the hero who destoryed it before.

Aspyr somehow failed on easy mode, with cheats. they were given 2 full games and somehow failed to make a finished product.

Yeah, Execute order 66 was a pain, but… the way I got it was by killing Mace Windu in Bespin (Platforms), because I did also try the other eras as well.
And even then it came out 5+ tries later.
The trophy seems so buggy, no matter what you do it doesn’t seem to pop first try
I always just lined up my snow speeder, switched to the gunner, shot the AT-AT legs and switched back to pilot back in the day. Way easier than relying on AI
whenever I switched back and forth I’d crash 😂 But I wasn’t very good at it anyway
You can get all the point related trophies extremely easily by simply replaying the final mission of the BF2 campaign and jumping into the at-at and just shooting at the capture points

To be fair the trophies for the reward weapons are linked to achievements that were already in the original game. They were just as tedious to get.

Watching this video made me decide to platinum this game myself too! It went pretty well all things considered. I got demolition by hitting AT-AT's in the neck instead, and used the training level to farm kill trophies. The only bad part of it all was having to wait 30 seconds after getting a medal then respawning. I didn't realise you had to do that to receive the medal again!
The medal wait time was a pain for me, wasted so much time with it. Well done on the platinum! glad you enjoyed the video

How is the single player gameplay currently? both the original xbox versions of the games are backwards compatible. Is the collection worth getting for the single player experience still anyway?
It’s good, but if you already have it it’s not majorly worth it, probably better off holding off for a sale to experience it.
I had the same problem with the game update and then when I was allowed back on I lost all my progress on both campaigns as my whole profile was corrupted and had to start both games campaigns from scratch.

This Game is Really Marvelous in Single player (the only problem it’s that misses the Ending Cutscene of the Journal of the 501st and for that I hope it will be corrected) while the Multiplayer meh soo I say a 8,5.

I think if you’re playing split screen it’s worth picking up. The online maybe wait for an update.
I found conquest on Hoth with 0 AI the best way to grind demolition. AT-AT necks are easier to shoot

I've heard they deleted a large amount of cutscenes in campaign mode which leaves a lot out of the story. Is this true? If so, how much did they leave out?
They did, it’s the cutscenes at the end of every mission
I don't think it's "deleted" so much as a bug that they weren't playing when they're supposed to. So yeah, that's like half the story basically.
What I think is going on with the Order 66 trophy is that you need to knock the Jedi off the map with a grenade. A rocket launcher apparently doesn't count. That's how I got it to work because as soon as I made the switch, it worked.

On launch there was like 3-5 servers, day 2 theres 10+ if not more. I had a few times it was laggy but 7 or 8 / 10 games was perfect. Playing one of my biggest childhood games online?! Fucking amazing dont care what anyone says im loving this on ps5. Even went off and had a 106 kill game 0 deaths

genuinely genuinely how did you get any trophies?! I constantly get "Marksman" awards in the corner in blue font and it doesn't want to give me the Beam Rifle which directly interferes with my trophies. What do you do and how do you fix this
If you’re on PS5 you can track your progress of how many out of 64 you have, if you’re on PS4 it doesn’t tell you. Unfortunately you might just have to keep trying or make a new save

Played about five or six matches last night and had a blast. Only problem I encountered was me and a few others got spawned onto a balcony where we couldn’t get down towards the end of the game. I’ve honestly had more issues playing online with the new battlefront II than with this release lol

I never got to play the first Battlefront on the PS2 but enjoyed the heck out of the second one, which I played Conquest and Capture The Flag all the time against bots. This is what should’ve happened when EA made their versions of Battlefront, they missed out on a big opportunity to make those like the original but with better graphics instead of doing what they did and it not really feeling like true Battlefront games in my opinion like the ones in the mid-2000s
Battlefront 2 is definitely the better game, Its weird because I do like the EA one, theyre just missing features and the magic

i considered buying it on sale simply for the achievments but this is just bad. I at least expected a trophy for every story mission in BF2 or winning galactic conquest with all of the 4 classes. Maybe some more fun ones like getting eaten by Jabbas rancor or blowing up the shield generator on hoth or getting squished by the trash compactor on the death star
Those would have been great, just for some variation to it. Get it on a sale still but yeah its just boring really…

I believe Ren Var is seen briefly in Revenge of the Sith. If I’m not mistaken it’s the planet we see Kit a Mundi killed on when order 66 takes place.
Nope, Mundi dies on Mygeeto. Rhen Var is a different planet entirely. Holds an old Jedi tomb.

@@jaymaddox4181 It first appeared in an old Star Wars comic called "Tales of the Jedi - Redemption".
For Order 66 I got it by blasting Luke as a Rebel. I think it has to be your team’s hero (as Order 66 is essentially a friendly fire incident) but I don’t think the trophy is tracking who deals damage, just that the friendly hero has fallen off the map.
For the AT-AT I just took off without a passenger and swapped seats to attach the tow cable then swapped back to the pilot seat. It didn’t take many tries, but I am one of the weirdos who actually likes flying.
Speaking of enjoying/being good at flying: I probably got three quarters of my War Hero medals in Clone Wars Era space battles. Just take a bomber and destroy two frigates from below. They’re worth 18 points each. Capital ship hard points (Bridge, Engines, etc.) also work.
Having the bonuses from Guardian and War Hero always active makes all the weapon medals easier, whether by simply staying alive longer (all of them, but especially Technician and Demolition as you’ll often be in exposed positions and not fighting back) or the damage boost. (for getting more kills, quicker)
I haven’t got the platinum yet, I’ve just been doing a lot of Galactic Conquest. While I have been consciously making unit selections (and occasionally “accidentally” going afk while surrounded by enemies) to gain additional medals, I haven’t truly grinded anything yet, and I think the only one I’ll need to grind is demolition.
Also remember that once you have a medal 32 of the 64 times you need the for the trophy the requirements for that medal reduce by a quarter. War Hero drops from 32 points to 24, Frenzy from 12 kills to 9, etc. (Gunslinger drops from 6 to 4 because 6 doesn’t divide nicely into quarters)

The same issue of the game crashing and updating only to corrupt my save file happened to me as well it was so annoying especially after it happened after I had already made some progress on the grind which I had to restart

I was on 61/65 shotgun medals. Game crashed. Booted it up again and I was back to 32/65 medals. But my trophy percentage was still 61/65. So I gotta catch up to the trophy percentage by getting the in game stats back up. So pissed off

I also got the platinum and yeah...this trophy list SUCKED. 36 trophies involving the most TEDIOUS MEDAL SYSTEM I've ever seen in a game.
And yep! The same thing happened to me with the save files. They released version 1.002 and if you played at ALL on 1.000, all save progress would be lost. It actually had nothing to do with your system crashing. Once you updated the game, the save files would've been corrupted anyways. And to think they stated they withheld the 1.002 update because of "a few minor issues and missing settings." Horrible launch in so many ways.
Sucks right? barely any enjoyment to it outside of the campaigns.
Damn that makes sense, I think I’m right in thinking the release of the update basically bricked my version of the game, usually you can start a game when its updating but not in this case, thats so backwards…
I've had the AI on elite in bf2 campaign and finding it really hard. Had it on the highest difficulty (not sure if its called elite) in the bf1 campaign and found some levels near impossible (just went onto bf2 campaign in the end). Really enjoying the challenge though! Not sure if anyone else found it the same?
I just played on easiest difficulty to get through it, but i can imagine it can be tough at times!
Tbh I don’t know why the game is getting so much hate. They really did have to restructure this game to work on these modern platforms. I only had problems with the initial launch day, after that it has been perfect. I play on ps4 so maybe it’s more of an issue on Xbox. How does it run for other PS players?
Generally the game runs fine, theres a few issues related to no cutscenes and things missing, I think people are disappointed things are gonna have to be patched in and the online isn’t the best at the moment.
Overall I enjoyed my time with it though.
Heroes only destroys the game audio in BF2
BF1 Loading screen is completely broken, it stutters and the audio is butchered. Which given how iconic it is I hope this is fixed sooner rather than later.
There's a loud static bang that happens at random in BF1 and the Infantry voices distort on some maps at random
BF1 left and right audio was switched so I had wear my earbuds backwards to hear the spacial game audio properly
They used files from a PC mod without giving the modder any credit whatsoever instead of porting the Xbox Live DLC characters properly on their own
The devs were well informed about these bugs and issues before launch but launched anyway without any delay. So I can understand the frustration many have for it especially given the price compared to what you can get the originals for on PC. I think console players get the most benefit from it but they shouldn't have to pay $30-$40 for something that's still unfinished which is the biggest gripe I think.
Despite all that it seems like they're eager to patch it now that there's been so much backlash and I'm hoping they put in the effort to fix all these issues. I own the game on both PS4 and Switch and have encountered almost all of these problems on both platforms, I'm still thoroughly enjoying the game despite it all and it's still very much playable. But not a good look to newcomers or og battlefront players.
My problem is why does it exist at all? On PC and Xbox you could already buy and play them anyway, for much less I might add. They did also make the file size like an absurd 50 GB when it should be 3 GB for BF1 and 10 GB for BF2. And campaign cutscenes are broken.
@@UnchainedEruption I'm glad I'm able to play the games on PS4 and Switch for the first time, that alone is a big benefit. On PC the original releases can be finicky to stream and you can run into issues opening other tabs or Discord running in the background can blackscreen the game. So it is nice to have both games in one package made for modern hardware, it's also using the PC version as a base which is great to have on consoles while also using the console menus which is considered better than the boring schematic menu the PC port got for some reason. The size is odd, they added 4K textures onto systems that can handle it and upscaled all the textures on all platforms which is most noticeable with skyboxes.
Overall I think the consoles are benefitting the most from the release, it's also really cool to have essentially a PC/Console hybrid of both games on a handheld like the Switch and to be able to play multiplayer on consoles again which is something only PC has had access to with the original releases.
The only issue I’ve had is the multiplayer, but besides that they did everything fine imo. Exactly what I was expecting.

7:55 the same thing happened to me on the same map but in Instant Action! Green screen, hard system reboot. I thought my PS5 was dead!

Honestly I have it on both switch and Xbox one and I haven’t been having issues with them other than a few minor graphical glitches.

I get you, people clearly feel very strongly about this game, I’m a bit more neutral because I never played it as much.
If this game was just $10 I think people would be fine with it. But for $30 you’d expect far more. Hot take but I think it would have been neat to have just completely combined both games. There’s a lot of maps and features and mechanics that don’t exist in BF2 and it would be neat to have them there. Also add cut content there’s loads of stuff that was meant to be in these games originally that was cut. And obviously have working servers. This definitely just feels like a cash grab and that’s such a massive shame.
$10 would have been far more appropriate, even $20 at a push.
You're supposed to gradually unlock the award bonuses long term, not cheese the game to grind them out like it's an MMO.
thats how they’re intended yes. But the way they work most people will grind them. There still could have been different things to do aside from medals

Whenever I try to switch to first person on BF2 on the PS5 I just have the on-screen reticle showing but not the actual gun itself? Assumed it wasn't possible till I've just seen you play with them showing@@JohnCalum
Thats really strange, yeah I just had no issues with. it I don't necessarily know the fix it just worked from the outset. Frustrating mate.
I have a fix for the trophy with the heroes.
Turn off friendly fire, then shoot your own hero off the platform. Guarantee it works.

I’m struggling with completing this because I really don’t want the upgraded rocket launcher, other than that I’m almost legendary for every medal and have almost all of the trophies. Am I really going to have to 99% this game?
You do have a couple options. As medals are saved to your profile, either make a new profile just to grind it out on, or upload your save, do it, and then download your previous save.

Yeah I hate it. Practically useless. It wouldn’t be such a big deal, but the heavy trooper is one of my most used classes and I use the rocket launcher a lot.

Yes 2 player, not 4 player I believe.
Battlefront OG has better graphics than the rushed game BF2. Other than playable heroes and space battles, I prefer the first installment of Battlefront due to the graphics.
For me I preferred the campaign for battlefront 2 but I can see why you feel like its rushed definitely
Great video sadly the unlock all achievements achievement is broken on Xbox for this game so all that work and it still shows I have not completed the game 800/1000 😅
