  • A rare occurrence took place on March 7th as the Albany & Eastern Railroad took out the "antiques," as they call them, to run the hauler train for the day. Thanks to some insight from folks on the AERC I had the chance to document this unusual run. It was on my bucket list for some time so it was nice to finally bear witness to them together. This duo is one of the best things that can be witnessed in the entire Pacific Northwest in my opinion.
These locations are their usual daily places of work which take place between Albany, Lebanon, Sweet Home, and Crabtree. The beginning is running back from Albany towards Lebanon, then midway is between Lebanon and Sweet Home, and last being between Lebanon and Crabtree.
There is a little bonus ground footage at the end as well which I think it adds a nice touch to the video.
Have to give a shout out to my friend Sean Suess for letting me borrow is drone to capture this footage while I was without one for a time.
Footage take with a Phantom 4 and Samsung Galaxy S6.

RFD, your videos are just amazing. I’ve watched everyone many times. When I’m working in the shop I have them play in the background. Thank you for all the effort it takes to put these together!

WOW! Awesome Video, Best I've see, Classic SD9 and GP9 beautifully painted, SP should have kept the Black Widoe Paint scheme instead of the Bloody nose and The A&E GP9 looks great also, love how the kept the Gyra Lights, much better than ditch lights, also beautiful scenery, well done Railfan Dan!

You have some of the nicest rail videos out there. I am amazed at your ability to handle drones to get all those shots. Your footage of Eastern Oregon and Washington are especially nice. Thank you.

Best rail videos I ever seen. I notice you fly your drone fairly down low and backwards. Aren't you afraid of hitting wires or taller trees? How do you deal with that? Just wondering as I fly drones myself and am always afraid to fly backwards very much even backward avoidance detection.

Great flying, shooting, and editing. I enjoyed every minute of it. It brought back many memories of growing up in Oregon in the 1950s - 60s. Thanks for creating and posting it.
