    Chris Cornell is one of the best vocalists of all time. His range is incredibly vast and his songwriting has always been pretty deep. Soundgarden was his original band. Then later on the bandmembers from rage against the machine picked him up after Zach left and that’s how you get Audioslave.
    There was a lot of “super groups“ around that time. Velvet revolver is the singer from Stone Temple pilots but the band members of Guns N’ Roses. AlterBridge was Creed members with a new singer. Hell. Slipknot was a band that Corey and a few others from different bands put together to give their own bands more exposure (Stone Sour). And it just took off.
    It’s always interesting to see what people from different bands and different musical talent could put together

    • @joshuaha7661
      @joshuaha7661 Před 3 lety +5

      Corey Taylor didn't join Slipknot just to get himself/Stone Sour more exposure. He joined the band because he was a huge fan of them and believed in what they were doing. and everybody else in the band were original members so,
      Where the hell you get that from?

    • @dethclaw
      @dethclaw Před 3 lety

      Chris and the guys from RATM wanted to do something after hanging out at Lala '94 or '95. However, timing wasn't right . After Zach left, it gave the RATM time to pick up those jam sessions they always wanted. Audioslave's first album was basically Sony(could be wrong) requests them to produce and release a record since they had been in a studio for months just jamming.

      Chris is a good amazing vocalist but I still think Mike Patton is way better he has more then 6 octave range and has made way more music then Chris Cornell and also has produced and made his own music and music for his other bands under his own record label. Chris and Mike we're good friends so am not trying to make mike sound like he's way better in a negative way but in my opinion I think mikes better for having more versatile singing styles, but Chris does have this soul power strong singing in his voice that I think mike can't even do.

It was bringing attention to neglect, abuse and mental illness and "Hunger Strike" was about the abuse of wealth and privilege and NOT "feeding on the powerless"(in a nutshell). Grunge music was talking about the "real" shit/stuff that matters. GOLDEN RULE: if you don't have anything nice(or at least constructive) to say.... then don't say it. Spread love NOT hate..... This song and it's sentiment are pinpoint accurate for my every day life. Chris wrote it exactly right. There rarely is a reason but every day is a struggle and the fight is constant and it's immeasurable. It becomes part of you. You don't get over depression, it doesn't go away, you just get better at handling it and even then sometimes it knocks you off your feet and sits on your chest.
    This week has been like that for me. I feel heavy on the inside and I have struggled to make it through each day. You could say I'm down on my knees today, but in my head I know I'll get up on my feet again, it's just in my heart it didn't feel like it.

    I am in an infinite war in my own mind most days with depression! I have a decent life so I really shouldn't be. "How could I know that this would be my fate". Honestly though sometimes what keeps me going is just thinking that none of this will matter because someday I will be dead. So that helps me not get too stressed out about anything. Stressing out about something that one day wont matter. It is hard to explain really. This song is a masterpiece. RIP Chris!

    The first concert I ever went to was Soundgarden, 1998, at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. I was in 11th grade, my older brother invited me to go, but my mom said no. It was only two miles from my house so I jumped out the window with skateboard in hand, found a couple friends from school, and 3 of us jumped the fence to the beer garden in the back, then walked in with a group of guys we had talked to out front surrounding us so we weren’t seen.
    Soundgarden opened with “Spoonman”. Highly recommend.

    I have battled with depression for most of my life. Music is what has ultimately kept me going. When you have reached a point where nothing gives you joy and even breathing seems pointless you're world is grey. But music would allow the emotions to be released. Pain despair loneliness but also love, joy and hope for a better tomorrow. This song has helped me through some of my darkest days. Thanks for the reaction and the opportunity to to relate some of my struggle. Keep the great reactions coming.
