"'Fell On Black Days' was like this ongoing fear I've had for years. It took me a long time to write that song. We've tried to do three different versions with that title, and none of them have ever worked," he said. "It's a feeling that everyone gets. You're happy with your life, everything's going well, things are exciting - when all of a sudden you realize you're unhappy in the extreme, to the point of being really, really scared. There's no particular event you can pin the feeling down to, it's just that you realize one day that everything in your life is f--ked!" Chris Cornell quoted in magazine article about writing the song
"Now I'm doing time." If you've struggled with depression and/or anxiety you can relate to being in that prison.
I’d classify Grunge as more of an era than an actual genre
Grunge is a deep rabbit hole. I recommend Temple of the Dog - Hunger Strike
Funny that you would mention Jimi Hendrix, because he was also from Seattle!
This is such a "mood song", it'll resonate with you the closer your mood is to the song.
"The demons he wrestled with were real. But he harnessed those demons and rode them like a mother flippin’ Chariot Of Lightning strapped with Marshall stacks to make some of the greatest rock 'n' roll of all time." -Tom Morello
Soundgarden's "the day I tried to live "
Y’all need to listen to 4th of July by Soundgarden! 🤘
Say Hello 2 Heaven, you guys gotta hear that. Possibly Chris' best vocal recording.
I got into Soundgarden through Nirvana. Superunknown is one of the greatest albums ever recorded. Chris Cornell had one of the greatest voices in music. Such a sad loss. RIP Chris Cornell.
I remember being a kid and my Daddy would wash his bronco on our lawn in our new house and he'd always be blaring Soundgarden hella loud and I'd be playing in our front yard singing to every song... Oh nostalgia...
sound garden - 4th of july, such a sick song
Unless you’ve been there you will never understand what could be so bad.
Cornell is my all time favorite vocalist. As a vocalist myself, I look up to him even when I am never going to reach his full four octaves vocal register.
For Soundgarden I would recommend.....
Audioslave’s “Like a Stone” is one of my favorite songs sung by Cris Cornell. Check it out. Totally different.
Temple Of The Dog “Hunger Strike” someone else said that and yes it’s a CLASSIC
Burden in my hand by soundgarden. Amazing tune.
Say Hello 2 Heaven is a must for the pinnacle of Chris Cornell's vocals
