    I get the whole photography aspect of it. Your always thinking. I bet there's going to be some performance tweaks for that bike. Can't wait to see some footage this summer from this combo.

      Yeah there is another faster mode called Sport mode that gives you 2 minutes of increased power, but there is already a hack to unlock the timer.

    I was thinking that you most likely purchased the Metacycle to run back and forth between corners when taking still photos of drivers.
    It totally makes sense to record a vehicle doing a hot run while hearing those sweet sweet aftermarket exhaust systems!
    The BEST part is it's a "business expense" that you can write off! 👍😎👍

      @@saynomore5730Killboy owns a business where he photographs vehicles on The Tail Of The Dragon.
      He purchased his Metacycle to use to ride around and save money while doing business activities.
      As such that motorcycle purchase is a "business expense" that he can claim as a write off on his businesses yearly tax return . ;-)

    Hey, nice footage and I am expecting delivery of my naked silver Metacycle tomorrow and was wonder where you got your small fairing for your bike?

    • @killboydotcom
      @killboydotcom  Před rokem

      Thank you Vincent. I got the fairing from Shift-Tech carbon here:
      shift-tech-carbon.com/onlineshop/product_info.php?products_id=1817
      Be aware that it is not made for the Metacycle, so I just have it attached with zip ties and cushioned the contact areas with a couple of layers of duct tape applied to the inside of the fairing where it touches the display and headlight. It fits and conforms great though, and makes the display much easier to read!

    The range is a disappointment but not really a surprise. I have a sort of similar bike: 300 lbs, 12kW continuous hub motor. But my battery is 8.5 kWh, almost twice the size of the Metacycle's, and I get 100-120 miles if I stay off the interstate. A steady 60-70mph gets me about 60 miles of range. So the idea that a battery that's half the size of mine would push the Metacycle almost as far seemed fantastically optimistic to me.
    Regarding handling and the rotating mass, my bike loves to flick back and forth too, in spite of people insisting it will handle like a boat. I think people forget that yes, you're adding rotating mass at the wheel, but you're subtracting it from where a motor would normally sit in the frame. I took around a bumpy right turn, and at one point the back end kind of jumped an inch or so to the left. it was disconcerting, but otherwise it was fine. I think maybe faster rebound in the suspension would probably take care of that but I don't really know suspension

    You've had a few bikes obviously. You ride that MetaCycle like you stole it! You probably, like myself have bought a few bikes everywhere from 650cc - 1300 now. How do you rate this bike's sport riding performance overall? How do you rate it for fun and in general, Like "how often you gonna want to ride this one on "Tail O the Dragon today?" (I'm sure you have at least 1 or 2 others.) I won't ask you to rate the comfort for long rides. I will adjust my rear shock a little cushier and let ya know. IMHO, It really will not be long until a plug and play HIGH CAPACITY battery with actual 80 miles range and maybe even more 5 years down the road with super charging and possibly a charger small enough to easily take with or built in. I like the turn signals and windshield. why don't you just grind the pegs a little? You know your way around shop tools? doing what you've already done. And the MIRRORS did you get them at Cycle Gear? I like those! You were talking about the throttle response. Use Sport mode a lot until you get down to 2 bars or so. It's very snappy but a little cumbersome having to hit it every 2 min. More if you are really pushing it. If you are just using it like on this road, you can use it right after it goes off. Not up hill though. When you get down to the red bar, you still have a couple few miles. If it dies completely and you are only a couple miles from home. Just wait and let it rest for an hour or so and it will rejuvenate itself enough to get you home. I know this because mine died and it took the Tow Service over an hour to actually be on their way. So I turned it on and tried it and made it home. It actually died right at the entrance to my driveway and I coasted down to my parking spot. watch the owners manual CZcams it explains, everything. czcams.com/video/Oj17ldXKITI/video.html The MetaCycle regenerates when you let off the throttle. You'll notice when fully charged it will freewheel for the 1st 3-5 miles till the voltage drops a volt or 2. Then it start's to reverse the electrons and you'll notice the little regen gauge at lower left of the screen.! Remember right hand go. left hand stop. Just remember the Trip meter resets each time you turn it off. you can see the ODO right when you turn it on. that's when I mark my milage on full charge. then when I stop, I log it. I'm a big guy 270lbs. if I leaned it like you do, I'd flop over. lol. Around town I average 35-45 miles and I am aggressive on the throttle except for trying not to go over 45 - 50 MPH. Congratulations on your new Meta C! You are one hell of a videographer, story teller and rider. Well Done Brother. for your good work I'll subscribe and share. Check out the MetaCycle owners group and the sondors group on Facebook. You'll pick up a lot of subscribers there. Keep your Brights on all the time when riding. Is your life worth a little range?

      Ok will try to address these questions best I can Grey.
      Yes we've had several bikes, currently own 6. I prefer smaller bikes. I'm tall, but skinny...150lbs. Never owned anything over 750 (GSXR) Hard to rate sport performance as it is right now, the pegs are too limiting, but I think it has potential. That heavy hub motor in the rear wheel is a concern though. Could cause a nasty bounce mid-corner if I hit a bump while leaned over.
      For fun and in general, probably not going to ride it too often, but who knows, may just leave it up at the store plugged in a ready for an occasional run.
      I have considered grinding the pegs: 1) There is a spring inside there that pulls them down, although it's not terribly necessary. But 2) and more importantly, they are still too low and need to be brought up.
      I got the mirrors on Amazon here: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B7JHS1TZ/
      I know to use Sport mode for better response, and I will do a run using that as much as possible next, but for this video I wanted to show what it would do just using Normal mode, how fast it still runs down the battery when ridden like a normal bike.
      Thanks for the info, and yeah I know about the Metacycle FB group, I created it. ;)

      @killboydotcom  Před 9 měsíci

      Yeah I rode it different than those other people. I can get 40-50 miles out of it too, if I poke around real gently. Other people are also seeing around 30 miles range when they ride it aggressively in harsh environments.

    Those were great pictures at the overlook. Seems like a fun toy, but not very practical for the normal consumer. I can't get behind any of these EVs based on the misconception they're better for the environment - they've not. And, the fact their full charge range is terrible and the recharge time is ridiculous. Again .. looks like a fun ride for your situation at the store - but not for me.

      @killboydotcom looks like it would work pretty good for that. Actually hearing the pegs scraping with clarity was cool. Maybe get a couple extra batteries when they come available in case you have back 2 back customers wanting a trailing videos?

      @@k9bud Yeah that would be ideal. Unfortunately they dropped the quick-swap battery feature at the last minute, so getting the batter out now is a bit of a process, but not terrible. Probably be a year before we can even purchase an extra battery though, they are struggling to get caught up on orders as is.
