I think that’s what made up for the lackluster gameplay (wasn’t lackluster back then but obviously looking back BO1 was a significant improvement in terms of gameplay and WaW was the pretty much the blueprint for PS3/360 era CoDs developed by Treyarch), the maps were well made on top of developers that were still a lot more in touch with the fans compared to the zero foresight devs CoD consists of today. The overall experience of WaW is just untouchable, CoD WW2 will personally forever be a disappointment. I wanted WW2 to be WaW2 so bad but I should’ve known better back then.

Unfortunately this game was controversial back then for stupid shit like being “too gory” when plenty of real WW2 stories from veterans say otherwise. Nowadays it would be too controversial for more annoying reasons, CoD WW2’s campaign, multiplayer, and overall experience was such a disappointment compared to WaWs.

The most balanced COD ever, even with tanks. Nerf the MP40 and it’s a perfect game.

@Valkyrie ALTER The tanks were not difficult to destroy. The “kids perks” cancelled each other out, and didn’t make people use UAV Jammer and sit in corners, as people did in Blops 1.
The only thing that was really overpowered was the MP40.
So yes, I must be on drugs because I easily have 50 days played on WaW back in its prime.

@@xtheczar and cheesy movements. Snaking is a viable strat. But the classic CoDs generally came down to who had better awareness and accuracy. If you knew where they were coming from and were prepared, it’s your kill
I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing, movement mechanics make the game more skill-based and more dynamic gameplay wise. Besides, CoD movement is still very tame and easy to learn compared to other games.
@@epitaph3988 i dont call slidecanceling easy to learn. More annoying to play against. Back then i always had fun playing even if i went shit because if i did get a few kills i was happy and got killed by a guy that just outgunned me and didnt fly across the map sliding on their knees doing 10 inputs in 1 click from their 200 dollar controller with extra buttons to gain an advantage.
FG42, M1 Carbine, and Thompson in order were my absolute favorite guns to use in this game. I remember when MW2 was really poppin off I was still sitting in WaW such a good game
When mw2 came out it was such a disappointment compared to cod4 that I actually went back to play halo 3 instead lol, which is hilarious cuz I stopped playing halo 3 to play cod4
The FG-42 was great but the clip was way too small for the rate of fire.
CZcamsrs should hype up old good cods like this one and mw1,mw2,mw3,bo1,bo2. I think that if youtubers with lots of subs starts to make videos again from these games, cods could actually go up again. I really miss these times 😢
Favorite WaW map for me was Asylum or Castle, my weapon of choice was the PTRS or the type-100!

This game had such eerie audio, it just gave you an unsettling feeling, especially if you played on a map solo. I miss this game so much though!
I wish I could’ve played WaW in its prime but sadly I started on MW2.. 😒 and even tho I didn’t play it in its prime, I got to experience the amount of gore and it’s one of the best CoD games of all time. I wish they’d make another CoD as graphic as WaW..

WaW was dope! my 3rd grade teacher used to give me and my friends tips on how to get better at the game
I think world at war had the best maps also. The maps had something for every type of player.
I say this to my wife almost daily. We spent DAYS playing it back then and wish it was still working today.
The reason why cod is different now a days is due to high kill streak and rewards that make players camp. If you go back to the basic besides mw2 which is the greatest cod of all time. The players were having fun and the kill streaks were the same for everybody. That’s what makes these old games fun.
It may be part of growing up, but I legitimately feel like games were more fun back in this era than now.

I love literally every map. This is easily my favorite cod of all time. The guns most all of them was great. But I do love the M1 Carbine, any if the rifles besides the M1 Grand. MP40 and Thompson was god on 360 but type100 is king on PC. Just so much good stuff in this game. Hopefully I'll see you in a lobby soon as I play in the same lobby you did

COD 5 was my first COD. The overall dark and gritty feel is something no COD has had since, even some of my favourites like MW2 and BO1 shortly after.
I bought a PS3 a few years ago and me and a friend replayed the campaign. It was a blast reliving those memories and I'll do it again sometime soon, with zombies and MP.
So many good memories with this game. Hours and hours and hours playing zombies and all the fun glitches when the game was still new. And all the fun random shit you did to try and get a ray gun, ( I would always buy the box, instantly turn around and tea-bag until the gun option pops up and pick it up without looking) lmao I always heard that was the best way to get it. But the PPSH was always my fav multiplayer gun.
This is the game that I played when I got into the COD series, the dogs kill streak, the blown up body parts, not to mention I was running an Ethernet cable from practically the other side of my house that was dangling in the air on my 360. Haha good times

Bro I loved playing on OG WaW Dome before MW3 Dome came out, and I loved using the Side by Side Double Barrel and the Grand in MP, they were so much fun, the PPSH-41 and the MG42 were king in zombies too lol
Amazing game, they just really nailed the tone and atmosphere with this game and the maps were all brilliant. I moved Roundhouse with a Mosin Nagant sniper

My favorite map of all time was Castle. As far as guns from this game the smg’s and the and the fg-42 hold a special place in my heart
I still play WaW a couple times a month. I only played it after it’s prime unfortunately because I only got into CoD in 2010/11. the sounds and maps of WaW is unmatched in the CoD series thus far
Only thing that made this game bad was that dogs were only 7 kill streak.
Then all you had to do is die, drop the killstreak, and those kills would rack up on your new streak. Unlimited dogs all match pretty much.
Favourite call of duty, always has been!! It was the first cod I ever played and it’s one of the only cods I 10th prestiged.

My first 360 got the red ring of death and I booted it up after I let it rest for about a week, no red ring, hopped on WAW and the first map was outskirts. After the game was over my Xbox hit me with the red ring again. Will never forget this map just because of that.
I forget my favorite weapon, but roundhouse gives me the most nostalgia probably bc it was one of the beta maps that I played! Loved search and destroy on this map too

It’s actually “guh-veer” (or “guh-vee-uh” if you want to sound more German).
I am a native Germanspeaker guys. That’s sound so alward how you think it’s pronounced haha. Gehvair is probably right tho
Actually when you translate it, it just means “weapon”

I love so many WAW maps. The classic feel and sounds of the game make it so great to play. My favorite for snd, dom, or tnd is Castle or Cliffside. My favorite for sabotage or war is Seelow or Breach. The game did sabo and war so well on those big maps.
I do miss this game dearly. Although, I've never been a good sniper.
Oh, and I can help you with pronunciation: in German, W's are spoken like V. It's said like Gev-air

I miss this game so much. Its so simple and so enjoyable because its so simple, something the new games have lost sight of. I wish the developers still kept these older games playable. They should release a multi game pack to play online and mediate to make sure modders don't destroy it. I'd buy it for sure

Everything was perfect in Cod WaW. The guns, the maps, the playstyle. Snipers didn't give hitmarkers every shot too like in MW.
My Fav cod of all time. I’ve been playing this on the PS3 recently for a couple months now there’s still a little community of like 50-100 people who play everyday. 👍🏼

The great thing about WaW, CoD4, and MW2’s big maps is that they were more open and had freedom of movement. There were secret jump spots and lines of sight that you learned about as you played. New CoD maps don’t have any of that. They all feel claustrophobic with forced headglitches regardless of map size.
One more thing: no new CoDs have power spots like the church tower on Outskirts! You can see the whole map but that goes both ways. Anyone can shoot you from anywhere on the map. It’s a high risk high reward spot.
I went back home last year, to my old room, purchased Xbox live and played the last game that was still in the old Xbox, WAW.
Apart from the some of the lobbies being hacked. It was brilliant I literally felt like a kid again. There were roughly 6-8k people online also which is pretty good.

M1A1 with a rapid fire controller was just tops for me! I also liked the STG-44 with an aperture sight!
Favorite gun was the m1a1, trigger finger with extended mag was unstoppable favorite map castle by far!
My first CoD was MW2 but I did go back and play WAW and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Loved a bit of castle and loved the Thompson with drum mag shit was slick
Cod waw had one of the best map lineups in cod history. Hangar or Castle were prob my favorite though. Loved the FG42 and MP40
