Thanks @Bukola for the opportunity to share my story and lessons. This was awesome.
Are you on twitter or discord, etc?
Good stuff bro
This has been the most enjoyable interview. Your journey has been inspiring
Absolutely loved this video, have thoroughly enjoyed your content and story over the years. Thank you.
Bro this was so inspiring
This is one of the most incredible CZcams videos I've ever watched. Ya'll are doing so much more than just paving the way... you're inspiring people who look like us to be the change.
I just wanted to say thank you for doing this series! Being a black software engineer myself, it's very validating to see other black engineers talk about their experience getting into to tech, following their dreams, and seeing what happens when they took a leap for themselves. I definitely resonate on the topic of feeling like I don't belong or feeling out of place being black and in tech, but seeing more people that look like me talk about their experience in tech is amazing to see and gives me hope that this industry is changing. Very inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing this series! :)
I think just being an underrepresented minority in general makes this resonate with me because there aren’t that many Latinos in tech. This interview was very inspirational!
@@DiamondFlame45 Very true!
When he said “minorities in tech are in demand” yes and no it can be hard for some Indian/Chinese people.
Thank you for these Dev stories! As a hispanic female majoring in CS, the imposter syndrome is REAL and these videos always feel reassuring.

Hey Bukola. Thanks for sharing! Could you check Scott’s Linkedin link you shared? Seems broken
@@nkechi1 thanks for catching that! Its fixed now
This story is really motivating. People overcome such difficult obstacles to find success, it's awesome to see.
He's a high school dropout, but probably one of the smartest people I have seen in my entire life.
Being a software engineering that came from a low income area in Chicago, it is always nice and inspiring to hear stories like this. Keep up the amazing work!
Hi. I'm in Chicago. Can we connect ?
@@alexgarcia2034 You can hit me up on Instagram.
Excited to learn more! I love these types of videos that you put out there because they’re so relatable / genuine 😊 keep up the great work!
Thank you so much ❤❤
Thanks for watching the last episode of this series! Write a comment down below if you want to see a Season 2 of Dev Stories series!
Ma'am if you don't give us more...there's so many dope people out there let's hear their stories. Haha
His humility is so inspiring. What a legend! Thank you for sharing his story - needed to hear it.
"I was not ok with not knowing something .... " This! This phrase sums up my difficultly in my coding program and now as an engineer
This was solid. Sometimes I think I’m crazy, In my own world trying to bring to reality my imaginations. Most times no one understands me or the sacrifices I’m making. I guess as the results starts to stack up they’ll come around. Thanks for making us believe more, “there’s truly nothing in your way, no one is trying to stop you”.
Happy and sad to hear imposter syndrome is so common even for a CEO/CTO, happy because it shows that im not broken is actually a common thing, but sad because what is it with tech that makes you feel like that no matter what you achieve
I can really connect with this story! It can seem daunting to enter the tech industry as a black person but it’s honestly worth it 🙌🏼
"I just don't wanna be poor". I was like that too. Loved the interview.
Amazing way to end the series! He was dropping so many gems. I was glued to the screen the entire 30+ minutes
Tech is a huge saving grace and gives people even playing field to succeed. I love you Tech 😀
Scott is an inspiration! Loved this interview
Such an inspirational video! Thanks for sharing Scott and thanks Bukola for doing this interview. “There are two types of people, the practical and the wild impratical people. The only time there is innovation and true progress is when some impratical person decides to do something crazy.” I felt that.
I follow Scott Moss’ courses on Frontend Masters! He’s the GOAT
Amazing video I love to see black excellence👊🏾💯 it’s not about how you start it’s about how you finish keep striving for greatness 💯💫
Hi @Bukola 👋🏿 Thank you for this series! I came across this series about 5 months ago watching your video with Esco Obong after speaking with some friends who are in tech. These videos definitely pushed me to get going! Without a CS Degree or boot camp I’m happy to say I just accepted my first job as a software engineer!
Yeah this is my favorite one in the series! Thank you for this Bukola. This is inspiring on so many levels. This type of work inspires us to be the change we need!
Thank you so much for doing this interview. I learned serverless programming and GraphQL from Scott when he did work for front end masters. He’s a great dude and he really spoke to my experiences as a black man in tech. Thank you Bukola for this series!
For anyone interested, there is a free 100Devs fullstack bootcamp for those affected by the pandemic or just wants to learn. This is its second cohort. We're in week 3, but he said you can still join.
Mind sharing the resource?
That was such an inspirational story, thank you for filming this
I need to watch this a second time. It was that good! Great stuff 👍🏿
Best one so far! Truly inspiring. Awaiting Season 2.
Needed this. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this series Bukola!!! This is helping me out more than you know lol

Thank you Bukola for this Series. Absolutely love it.
This interview was a true gem. Thank you!
Wow! Another amazing video !! 👏🏾👏🏾
Damn watched this interview from start to finish, this one was my favorite episode so far! :) Really great episode, with lots of valuable info :)
I love this video, some of the most unexpected things came up that I can relate to. I'm not a man nor a veteran BUT I did have a kid a bit earlier than expected and I felt that " I don't have more time to spend away from my son." Not everyone in my age group can relate but there are a lot of us that can and I love the community of us younger parents still out here grinding for a better life.
I legit was in that mindset all of 2021, I'm taking my time and trying to be a SWE and it's not easy trying to juggle an income, studying and a kid on top of it all. Nothing is impossible really but shit does get hard especially when you factor in time. I've seen and heard so many people just quit on their dreams because their everyday focus was a steady income and I'm happy he addressed that he grew up with a mom trying her best and he was just a young dad later on in his life just trying to do the best he could for his son. I loved it!!!
Scott Moss was absolutely amazing, thank you Bukola for this beautiful interview.
I honestly hope you continue this series, Season 2 is needed
One of the OGs of the game! Thanks for this Bukola.
This hit on so many levels, not just software engineering alone, life in general. BUKOLA Thank you!!!! This series has been wonderful and valuable. Pls don't make us wait a year for another season!
I really loved this video. It's authentic and sincerely asked the question that some of us wonder. You and Scott Moss are really role models for the community and a lot of people in the world in terms of growth and success. Thanks for this type of content!
The introduction is awesome... Follow your own path... We only have one life to live
This was awesome! that you Bukola and Scott for the great content. Both of you are motivation.
Wow. This video just made my day! I really found his story very inspiring and I really love how lay back he is! Thanks 😊
Wooo🔥.
Thanks for another one and God bless!
This guy is dooooown to EARTH!
“Oh that’s what we doing!? That’s cool though” 😂. Props my guy! Mad props
Im taking my javascript assessments this week at my bootcamp in my second to last module and this added so much value to my software engineering journey. Thank you for diving into these stories @Bukola !
this guy is such an inspiration!!
This video was awesome. It was so inspiring to hear Scott's story. I loved every minute. Thank you both, thank you!
Another gem Bukola♡
Scrolled down my CZcams feed after taking a Leetcode break and saw this lol♡♡♡
This is by far my favorite episode. I’m currently trying to learn and get into tech myself and this episode was soooo inspiring. Great vid guys!!! 💯
Love these interviews in the Dev Stories series! Great content Bukola! Thanks so much!
Thanks for the comment! Planning to make more this year :)
Bukola through your content I am inspired and motivated to reach my aspirations beyond my current situation. Thank you so much for sharing. I can relate a lot with Scott being the oldest of 3, coming from humble beginnings, currently in the military as a Dental Hygienist and wanting to go into tech. The fact this he worked and earned so much success in just approximately 5 years is incredible. I am currently battling with imposter syndrome and high self doubt. His story and lessons are greatly appreciated. Please keep the content coming sis. ❤️
I loved this series so much. I'm a week into coding bootcamp. For software engineering. I fell in love with it. Not even knowing how or why. But I felt it was a challenging in some areas... I loved the idea of not knowing something just so I can start from scratch and learn it. At any rate. Cheers to me on my journey as a software engineer. I really loved your series.
Wow, so many inspiring things were said in this video I am stunned. Thank you both for sharing!
I love this interview his story is so interesting to listen to!
It is really an inspiring story for folks with an unconventional background and path. Thanks for this interview.
Amazing interview. Scott is very smart and inspiring. Thank you @Bukola for amazing content as always
Supper motivational … best interview I seen in a way , thanks 2 you both and much more success too you 2 !
Thank you Bukola, well done!👏🏽
Thanks for watching!
Wow I stumbled upon this video. He is soooo inspiring. Very articulate and smart man.
Love this interview
i'm not even in tech but this vid is so inspiring for my personal career journey. thank you bukola!
Wow! Thanks alot for this -- really great inspiration.
This was great! thank you
Great interview im glad to see diversity in coding. Big Salute to Scott.
Wow this is a great interview. Really puts things in perspective!
I really enjoyed this interview. Thank you!!
This is very inspirational. Especially the tips about interviewing mindset.
Great video!
Immediately I saw Scott in the thumbnaill, I knew this was gonna be lit 🔥
This was super dope! Crazy how similar my story is to his... well other than I'm not a baller VC yet😂 but almost everything else is crazy similar. Preciate you Bukola for putting me on, now I have someone else to follow and listen in on.
this was so inspiring for me because i want to get into tech but i’m starting off in consulting. i somehow convinced myself that i’m “too late” to get into tech or behind my peers who got FAANG offers right out of college. but this dude started off in the military and still made a fulfilling tech career for himself. reminded me that there’s no need to rush and to trust the process cuz we’re all on our own timelines. thanks scott and bukola both. i’m gonna grind like crazy now :)
This was amazing!
This story is amazing and super motivating.
Very cool - great story and energy👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
This was so good! Very inspiring! 😄
this is amazing. I was about to giving up on learning coding... and now I feel more confident to continue to studying. .
This was an amazing episode
I literally watched this entire interview today (7th March 2022) and really loved it. Thank you for such an inspiring guest. It is quite refreshing to learn that there are blacks doing this well in the tech space. AMAAAAAAAAZING!!!!!!!
I love this guy
17:33 golden nugget, thanks scott
Great series!
Thank you!
Thanks to both of you so many great tips
And again one very good example how things are in reality
Not like in the movies - nothings comes easy or happens overnight
