    Bino, I teach recreational tree climbing and this is a much simpler way to get a new climber up into the canopy than adding a pulley or tying a second blake’s hitch on the down line. Thanks very much!

    Great short, Bino! I've seen this with a second Blake's on the working end, but not like this with a Bowline style slip knot. Very Cool! I will have to try this. Thanks for sharing!

    This is a cool trick for tending to a Blake’s hitch, love it. I bet a jet step foot ascender would blend well with this setup😊

    Protip.. dont get stoned before watching this... i smoked a joint an hr ago & i watched this about 10 times trying to do this with my rope & im still confused as heck😂 im gona get some food & watch bingwatch all John Wick movies im too stoned to learn me anything with a knot rN.

      I tried practicing some climbing techniques in my backyard after smoking once, it took me 30 minutes to get up to the first union, and by the time I got down from that same first union, it was dark outside.

      It is confusing because there are two separate ropes. Different colors for the ropes would have cleared things up.

    As a tree cutting hobbiest, I've been using a prusik. This is a back-up tie-in only, but the prusik always tightens up & I waste energy getting it loosened so it will slide.

    Yea but the tension on the Blake will make it very hard to release to descend , I tie a Blake second Blake where you tie the tending knot that way I can release the tension on the holding Blake then descend easily

      For me normally I only use it to ascend and when I reach the top I untie the self tending part. I doesn't bind on me.

    Just do a closed system with a bowline and a Blake's or do an o rig system

      Yes if it's untied but you still would want to add a figure eight. Not if it's cut it's connected to your mrs line.

      I undo the self tending part put a figure 8 then pull down on the Blake's and descend.

      I go back to a figure of eight stopper. I think because I'm heavy it binds up when I come down.

      I've seen it work for some people but for me it always locks up so when I get to the canopy I undo the tail and put a figure 8@@Ricardo_Moto

      I tree care we call the Taught Line Hitch a Monkey Fist but it's not the actual Monkey Fist. The Monkey fist is shaped like a ball and was used as a throwing weight.

      Can't argue that mechanicals and foot ascenders are a lot faster but there are lots of climbers that aren't at that point. Take care!

      Indeed. And hold a glove in one hand to help hide the action. Then make many short cuts in the video to make it choppy.
