Sharp looking diesel! Very nice. I'm glad you were able to pick one of those giants up at York! Bill B.

What a fantastic presentation Steve. I really enjoyed the history and the review. Now I have to add one of these to my collection!

Nicholas Smith Trains still has one with the UP lettering on the sides!

That would be the correct scheme for a DD40AX, not DD35.

Southern Pacific owned three DD35B units as well.
DC traction motors did not go away--they are still offered in some models (like Amtrak's P-42 psgr diesels). AC motors are better at lugging at low speeds, but DCs are better at higher speeds.
The color scheme on your model is UP's current scheme, not the as-delivered 1960s versions (e.g., with silver trucks and a red sill stripe). The colors--Armour Yellow/Harbor Mist Gray--date back to 1934 and are the oldest scheme still in service.

Wonder if we're going to see a video on that other loco, the SD70ACe, you got at York!

Absolutely!!! That's to be published here next weekend. SUPER excited to get that one out! It looked absolutely amazing running on the layout during filming!!!

Love the engine, but too big for my layout. What is the number of the green boxcar with the American flag and army star? Thanks.
