Budapest used to have a very BAD dog poop problem. Like you couldn't take a step from all the dog poop. In the late 2000s the city tightened up on dog owners to pick up their dogs poop and regulations tightened up in parks, playdrounds, etc. Dogs have dedicated doggie parks where they can go to. Maybe there was an overcorrection, but it was really, really bad before.

Never did I anticipate having a conversation about dog poop but this is great insight haha. Thanks for sharing this!

There are tourist traps in Budapest, but Szimpla, and Karaván definitely not. And in Gozsdu udvar you can find exceptional food for example in Spíler, but there are smaller places like 2 Spaghi which is run by italians and they make great pasta.
The tourist traps are usually around Váci utca, and around all of those Thai massage places.

@@camdendavid tourist traps have girls in the front, who invites you in with some welcome drinks, they don't accept cards only cash, and they don't display prices anywhere, they have "prepared" drink menus with 10-20x times the usual downtown prices.
The places you mentioned have like 5-10% higher prices than the usual ones, so it's pretty okay.

You also hit it on the nail; some place are TT and overpriced and let's not forget about the ATMs. The one attraction I think is a BIG TT is the fonicular ride to the castle @@camdendavid. If the grass was opened there would be no grass their at all. Just like at Erzsébet square. So many people that they kill the grass. There parks/drog runner spaces in the down town. They are for dogs. Budapest had serious problems with dog keepers.

That was my astonishment as well
We came from Berlin, Germany and haven’t noticed any difference in prices at all inspite of low salary rate here.
Second thing that Hungary is not capable to provide products and cover citizen needs. There are ONLY German products in the shop. When you visit Spanish/polish/ French shop - you will find mainly local products and local appeal brands - here quite empty shelves even in the city Center and only import. Nada!
      Quite shocking
