      And , when still in the band, he comes with Chris to plug the new album on Stern's show, and nods to all Chris's saying and chimes in. The book was written when he wasn't in the band no more. For example, that bit about Jimmy Page. In which he fucks over Rich as well. Probl. some truths in it, but totally written out of spite.

    Love the Black Crowes, love love love love love the Black Crowes. Quick note on H.O.R.D.E ‘95. Saw that show at SPAC, NY. Blues Traveler had the crowd going wild. They were tight, the setlist was awesome, the stage was rushed on the first song, easily a hard act to follow. I’ve seen the Black Crowes a few times, this was probably the worst. They had a good setlist but they were making consistent mistakes, the jams were pretty boring. A decent chunk of the crowd left halfway through. They come out and do Remedy and Feelin’ Alright to please the crowd that was left. They weren’t horrible, but Blues Traveler easily blew them off the stage...

    I remember seeing this in real time. Part of the reasoning still makes no sense. Did Chris ever chastise Bob Dylan for playing harmonica during the height of his genius? Harmonica and the blues have always gone hand in hand. Was never a huge admirer of either band, but at least Blues Traveler succeeded at first with original material.

    • @gabrieln3613
      @gabrieln3613 Před 4 měsíci +1

      Muddy Waters called harmonica "the mother of the band" and he always had harp players as his primary lead instrument, starting with Little Walter, then Junior Wells, James Cotton, Jerry Portnoy, Mojo Buford, etc. Plus Dickie Betts (ABB) is quoted saying Duane Allman said in his slide guitar playing he was trying to emulate the tones of a harmonica. Live at the Fillmore feature his friend Tom Doucette on harp.

    Black Crowes are great but so is Blues Traveler. Both have sold over 10 million albums.. Black Crowes have sold more of course (30 Million) but you cannot deny that Blues Traveler has their own sound and their success isn't an accident. There wouldn't have been a Horde festival if it wasn't for Blues Traveler. So I'm not sure what Chris is talking about here. All I'm hearing is ego, ego, ego. It's amazing when guys like this have the world in their hand and they just still can't be happy and wish other bands good luck. Why must you tear down another band similar to yours? the Black Crows rock derivative of 70s rock were really more of a novelty act than Blues Traveler just because he plays a harmonica doesn’t make it a novelty, Blues Traveler’s music will always sound timeless and holds up better over time than a band trying to be derivative of 70s rock in the 90s there’s no point in listening to the Black Crows now even nostalgically as you might as well just listen to a 70s rock band if you want to listen to that type of music
