  • On October 13, 1917 a crowd believed to be approximately 70,000 in number, gathered at the Cova da Iria fields near Fátima, Portugal. According to many witness statements, after a downfall of rain, the dark clouds broke and the sun appeared as an opaque, spinning disk in the sky. Many skeptics believe that the event was natural and meteorological in nature. But, how does one explain that the event occurred at the exact time predicted by three young children ?

Im from Iceland I was born catholic and may be the only catholic in my age who follows its principles in south of Iceland beyond Reykjavik. Im 17 now and most teenager at my age are agnostics or protestants who mock me for going to mass every sunday. Please pray for me to ignore pride with arrogance and to endure all those temptations who are upon me. Brothers and sisters let us pray for the church, our new pope Francis and all who are in our family. Many tribulations are ahead.

The True Story of Fatima was first introduced to me was by Father Malichi Martin. From him I read and learned more about The apparition of Our Lady of the Rosary at Fatima, Portugal. Those three saintly children went through so much for us. Imagine being 7, 9 or 10 and standing up to the threats of being boiled in oil, by big burly grown men (cowards and masons). Like someone already pointed out, on each day Our Lady appeared she said PRAY THE ROSARY!

Well, as a Portuguese and a former student of Contemporary History, I can tell you all those things are historically accurate. The debate in historical circles is not if something happened: it's WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED.
I happen to be a catholic too. And, being a portuguese, a catholic and a disciple of History, I feel free to say this presentation is lacking only because it doesn't mention any of the other appearances (except one), most notably the first, on May 13th - consider this one, on October 13th, the very last one. It also doesn't mention that the children didn't know who that "person" was until very late; they simply said she told them she was from Heaven and was so pure in likeness.
Over the course of the following weeks, the little shepherds were put under a lot of pressure from the Church (which feared reprisals from the Government - if you study Portuguese History between 1910 and 1926, you'll understand why) and the anti-religious Republic. But none of those reports could find them lying: at best, the conclusions of the republican inquirers were "they definitely THINK they saw something".
Over the years, many things have been added to Fátima's original message - like stupid american prophecies and embelishments of the Secrets, which were produced into paper after and only after 1940, in the midst of terrible pressure by the Church on Sister Lúcia. But it's fair to say most of the original content of Fátima's message are still in practice in this place.
To all of you who believe or have doubts and to all of you who are just curious, I'd strongly recommend to visit Portugal and Fátima. Your answers will be found there and only there.
The town is about 1 hour or 1 h 30 min from Lisbon by bus. The surrounding areas might appear a little rustic, but in general all the infrastructure is well developed

I would like to go to Fatima! But I could see that it is true and I have no doubt. I witnessed the fact in 1988 in an apparition in Brazil, where she declared herself "our lady of the assumption". Although it is forgotten by the church, it is an important event, because it confirms a dogma about Mary being resurrected as Jesus, and ascend to heaven with the physical body. Pope Pius XII was writing about this dogma and only in 2008 was discovered a secret note from the pope, he saw the phenomenon of the sun after completing the text of the dogma that he intended to publish the next day.
well, about my testimony, I was a child and did not know exactly what had happened at Fatima. I knew she had come to Fatima and Lourdes. Much less did I know of the miracle of the sun. When in the afternoon, during the mass in the field near the small tree where children claimed to have seen Our Lady, I heard people shouting "the sun! The sun!"
And everyone ran off scattering looking up at the sky and I saw the sun shifting in zigzag at an unimaginable speed, it was all white, different from how you usually see it at the end of the afternoon (it was almost 6 PM). And the sun stopped moving across the sky and positioned in the place near where it would set. Then it started to change color, and I could see that it was turning on itself, it kept the halo around and could see that in the center was something very fast spinning. It changed from turquoise blue to yellow, lilac, dark blue, olive green. The sun was much bigger than it usually appears. It was huge and blinked all those colors, especially the blue turquoise. And it stayed like this until it was completely set. It lasted for about 15 minutes and there was no eye discomfort at having seen the phenomenon. The greatest miracle was that everyone present was at peace and treated each other like an old friend of many years.

When my grandma died, i asked the Father-Lord why did my grandmother pray three rosaries a day? I am not close to your mother Mary.I have Jesus in my heart and have lived for Him for a long time now. If there is some purpose to asking Mary to pray for us on earth then give me a sign.Soon I had a dream about my tree in my garden.Within the tree appeared lovely Mary with sheer white veil, red bodice and turquoise shawl-her heart exposed, shining, pulsating with crystaline vibrating light. It's true.

I love the three shepard children, especially Venerable Francisco. What a sweet angel of faith. He suffered so much, but was happy to offer it all up to console Our Lord. He was only a child when he died. His little sister Ven. Jancinta, loved our Blessed Mother crying "Oh the beautiful Lady!" She also died tragically alone, very young. Ask them to pray for you! They are powerful prayer warriors,on the path to sainthood.

A miracle like this is truly special. A miracle like this hasn't occurred since biblical times. People today see that our world is hurt. Spiritually it is bleeding. It needs healing. People are praying for a sign to change the world. That prayer has already been answered in 1917 and we don't appreciate it enough. In the year 2000 Saint John Paul II read the final and third secret of Fatima. He read it in our new millennia, and it reminds us that this sign from 100 years ago is still a sign for us. This sign is for modern people. Read the warnings from Blessed Virgin Mary. But also remember that it is not a sign of despair, but of hope. Mary told Lucia, that if we turn to God, that the terrible things that she warned about can be avoided. That is why the messages of Fatima had to be shared in 2000. We have to remember that the things said in the the third secret of Fatima are not a foretelling of the future, but of what will happen if we turn away from God. To the young girl, Saint Jacinta who was canonized this year, Mary said, "More souls go to Hell because of sins of the flesh than for any other reason." This is a clear sign to modern people. If are one of the people praying for a sign from God in this desperate time, this is the answer to the prayer that people have wanted. I'm telling you very seriously, this the sign, right here. Study Fatima. You'll learn everything you need to know. Mary told the three little shepherds how to guide the Church. Listen to what Mary told them. God sent her. She can tell you ow to serve God. I know she can because she served God so well, and she still does.

    • @Flagrum3
      @Flagrum3 Před 6 lety +2

The third secret was never revealed, don't be fooled. It was asked by Our Lady to be divulged to all the people of the world in 1960, and was ignored by all the Popes since, and has still not been divulged. Our Lady asked that the Pope and ALL the Bishops of the world consecrate Russia to her Immaculate Heart or else there would not be peace, and that also has not been done. The Church today is not the Real Catholic Church, it is pseudo church, run by anti-popes since the Vatican II counsel. But, our Lady did say that no matter, her Immaculate Heart would triumph in the end...that we can be assured of.

@Freedomremoved In the description of Mark "here are my mother and my brothers" is an emphasis on being able to love one's neighbor as one loves his mother and brothers. This is another comparison but similar in pronunciation to "'You shall love your neighbor as yourself" as well as to "unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven". The emphasis is on trust and the sincere love that a child has to his mother, father, brothers and sisters.

I believe it because the Bible gives us some hints. First is when the angel Gabriel tells Mary that all generations will call her Blessed. The second is when she visits Simeon and he hold up Jesus and speaks about how he will be the savior and then tells Mary "a sword will pierce your soul and you will know the thoughts of many"...Obviously this prophecy is referring to her future state. Think about how many times she visited and the churches built in order to bring people back to God.

Our Lady also told the children on that day, that Francisco and Jacinta (brother & sister) and the 2 youngest of the three, would join her soon. They passed away soon after. Lucia only passed away not long ago and she had secrets. Some say it was collapse of Soviet Union, but I believe there is more and church withholding it..... Correction. Those Exorcist Priests that read the 3rd Secret stated that it had not yet been released. Also, that the indication of a 4th secret from Rome written by Ratzinger sheds questionable actions as to what is going on there. Also, it was said that the Pope John II sent all the exorcist priests away from him because he himself could not Exorcise Demons. Prayer, Penance and Sacrifice has been long standing with the Church since the time Jesus walked the earth. So, what is the message. It is much more than what you are assuming here. Protestants believe everything is up to them and their choice of doing it their way with what works. Thus we see how America is collapsing from within. We as Catholics depend on the Mother Church for our decisions and relinquish our self will and desires to that course as Jesus the Christ wanted. Simple as that. Continue to learn, know and obey.

    Hi Manard099,
A Christian is basically a follower/disciple of Jesus Christ. The Catholic Church was the original Church which has over the years split into many Christian churches. Many of the Christian churches do not honor/venerate the Virgin Mary (Jesus' mother) as the Catholic Church does. The above miracle is one of the reasons Catholics continue to do so. A person would need to learn about and accept Catholic teachings and then officially be baptized to become Catholic.

@gilkich "Standing by the cross of Jesus were His mother and His mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, He said to his mother, Woman, behold, your son. Then He said to the disciple, Behold, your mother. And from that hour the disciple took her into his home" (John 19,25-27).
Behold, your mother the Lord said.

Of course God established a religion on earth. He gave the keys to Peter, who started the Church. He didn't establish the Hindu or any other religion; just one: The Catholic Church with Peter as it's first head. To believe that it's ok to hang out with any of the hundreds or thousands of other splinter sects that profess their Christian beliefs is against God's will. He told Peter "Thou art Peter and upon this rock (Peter means "rock") I will build my Church"--not churches with a myriad of weird or conflicting spins on His word. That's like starting the Marines, but also allowing hundreds of other "Marines" groups out there claiming to also be Marines. That's chaos.

As Catholics, we venerate Mary but we don't worship her. We regard Mary with honor and respect. It is different with worshiping. We are completely aware that worship is rightly offered to God alone. We are all brothers and sisters in worship of ONE GOD. Hope discussions like this won't make us disrespect other's beliefs. Let us not create divisions among ourselves because of these kind of discussions. May our focus be is to bring people closer to God.

Mary DID have an option. She had free will, as we all do. She could have said "no". But the Bible says that she said "let it me done unto me according to thy word".

Anyone who researches a little about that blessed day will see that it is real and that men like your grandfather were one of the 70 000 that were there that day. They saw the miracle and felt God's love. Even non-believers who came to discredit the coming of a miracle, fell to their knees. Our Lady said she would show them- and she did. Pray the rosary everyday as she asked and keep Gods love in your heart. Your grandfather helped spread the message.

@Freedomremoved: The way you describe a text is like you were there. It is a book that was written by man and translated into many different languages and meaning, sometimes, is lost in translation. Fatima, there were 70K people that witness the event whether a miracle or not.

@hross233 Catholics do not pray to images but pray toGod in the presence of images. Paintings and sculpture bearing the religious content and symbols can be regarded as windows open in heaven. These windows help to direct our prayers to God and our will toward the good. The image contains words expressed in the language of colors and shapes. The Bible contains the spoken words. It is not wrong to pray to God with the Bible in hands. Prayer in the presence of religious symbols is not wrong too.

Also pray for Pope Francis, for his protection & that he continue being faithful to God(this prayer intention should be prayed regularly).

The greatest thing about Mary is that she is REAL and FUNCTIONAL. So all talk about not asking her to pray to God for you is moot when God obviously and clearly responds to her request on your behalf. Behold your mother.

The wedding feast of Cana is the first recorded miracle of Jesus's life. Mary said to Jesus " They have run out of wine ". Jesus said "Woman why do you bother me my time has not yet come". Mary then said "Do as he tells you to do". This first miracle of Christ is attributed to Mary interceding and asking Jesus to do something about the situation. Jesus is plainly telling Mary his time had not yet come for him to show who he was. However due to Mary's faith in him and her requesting this from

Alexis N Interesting. Maybe you need to look up the word Religion. Maybe you need to look up what adaptation and survival is all about. Maybe you want to throw the whole existence of God out the door and start another. Indeed, Jesus came to what? To reaffirm what? Excuse me, but have you even thought about what Jesus was talking about? Even the Apostles had a rough time with it. Read the Book of John chapter 14. The Apostles had to wait for the Paraclete, and when did that happen? So, what is all that called? Just to have lip service and act like you know puts you right up there with those discuss in Corinthians, those false teachers. Again, I would not speak for God nor allow myself to presume upon him nor put imaginary limits on him. For NO APOSTLE talked like that!

Everything we need to know, and what to do, and the God-approved, most effective weapon of choice has been revealed by the Holy Mother at FATIMA! The Holy Rosary. The trouble with most pious Catholics nowadays is they keep looking for new signs, revelations, new prophecies, etc. Just look back and read more and more in-depth about Fatima. AND pray the rosary everyday, AND pick up on the Five First Saturdays devotion in reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Like what one sports brand says: "JUST DO IT!"

pt 3 I have witnessed mircles done in full view of believer's and un-believer's and some said they saw the miracle take place b4 their very eyes, and yet others said I saw no such things. So what then is the difference? Faith. It's the same w/ this miracle, do you believe the boys saw visions of what was to come and do u believe that the prohecy came true on that date? "Truly I tell u, unless u change and become like little children you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven." Matt. 8:3

@Freedomremoved We believe that God is one. There are differences in rational terms of the nature of God and always will be, while the voice of the heart is the one shown by Christ. We believe this and it binds us. Differences on the views about Mary, the Trinity, and the sacraments cannot weaken the nascent love in our hearts, because Love is the most important.

Exactly, plus in 1 Kings Chapter 6 in the bible,God's temple was full of images of winged cherubim, oxen, lions and golden flowers, all with His approval. In Exodus Chapter 25,God commanded that two images of winged cherubs be made to go on top of the Ark of the Covenant. I sometimes wonder if some Protestants read their bibles instead of picking on Catholics all the time. As for Our Lady,Jesus also said St. John the apostle from the cross "BEHOLD THY MOTHER!" ( Gospel of St. John 19:27 ).
