I can hear him fine in most if not all the songs but I guess its because im a bassist and my ears are more tuned to pick it out than if some who doesn't know what to look for listened to it. Also higher quality speakers or headphone help a lot. nevertheless on of my favorite bassists.
I agree. I've played lead guitar the better half of my life, and I usually have a hard time hearing the bass guitar. I just recently picked up bass, so I'm starting to hear the differences between parts; but I've always been able to make out the bass in Avenged songs. In fact, JC is the main reason I started playing.
Low and a little had, but the important thing is the Ernie Ball my Musicman Bass. I have one, and with my Sansamp and some slight distortion and presence boosting, I can get almost any tone Johnny Christ does. They're very clicky like that.
well, I got the whole song down now, i mean over all it was pretty easy, there were just some parts that screwd me up, but i also started playing bass like 5 months ago
I'm a bass player, and I study Contemporary Music and I'm working on my Higher Diploma in the field of Music. I refuse point blank to use a pick. I assure the self proclaimed "good bass players" out there, that with proper finger picking style, this is outrageously difficult.
I'm a guitarist of 1 year in October. I don't own a bass and I get to play the bass very rarely, I have maybe played like 3 times, but I can play this. And this isn't hard at all.
Maggot2607 of course it's fucking difficult if you don't use a pick, the song is meant for a pick, also if you are working on a higher diploma, why are you calling plectrums picks?
Well this is a delayed reply.... The bass line was written by a pick-player, but I've seen Avenged twice live now, Johnny doesn't use a pick for the majority of songs now. However, I was saying that even with years of experience, this bass line is incredibly difficult. I was simply stating my preferences in my 12 years of bass playing. Personal preference! Use a pick if you want, I couldn't care less if you're in favour, or against it. As for your obvious determination to pull teeth and use my terminology against me, I'm from Ireland, we call them picks. Anyone in my college who turns around and asks someone for a "plectrum" would be laughed at. Picks, plecs, plectrums, who gives a flying fuck what they're called. I have never, and probably will never use one so I don't really care about the technical name for them.
Maggot2607 don't act as if it's where you're from, i'm from scotland and if you know how to play guitar and call plectrums, picks you're a dumbass, and no johnny only uses picks for slow songs (afterlife, so far away ect) he hates using his fingers
Johnny doesn't get NEARLY enough credit
Joey .Angelucci true! 💙
I mean, he is the leader of the band
He's our best friend

Man that Music Man sounds amazing.
Just started playing bass... Probably shouldn't start with this song, but fuck it. The sixteenths are killing me, but I refuse to use a pick.
Tim Ralls y tho
I already play guitar with a pick, and I want to challenge myself by using a new technique.
I know how you feel
Dude, no offense, but get over it and use a "god damn" (avenged sevenfold) Pick.
omg i was the exact same i refused to use a pick up until it hurt to use my hand
