1. Bad running order, it was 2nd 2. San Marino only has Italy as a reliable source of points, and they didn't vote in their semi. There's also the fact that is a well-known pre-contest favorite, and Azerbaijan tried to cheat, soooo....
I think I will never get over the fact that Albina was in the top 10 with both juries and televoters and yet, she did not qualify for the finale. and now we need someone who won't be in top 10 in both juries and televoters and still qualfied
I've been thinking about this as well. What I would change is to allow two of the non-qualifying entries to qualify for the final as wildcards. It would be the regular top 10 qualifiers + the highest NQ entry by the jury + the highest NQ entry by the televoters. This means the number of qualifiers goes up from 10 to 12. However, the only way this would work is for the elimination of the Big 5 rule. This would keep the number of entries for the final at 25 (12+12+ Host). For 2021 as an example, let's assume all the Big 5 didn't qualify for some reason. (Italy & France caught covid and couldn't sing.) (Well, UK, Spain & Germany would certainly not qualify in this case.) For SF1, the Jury's Wildcard would have been Romania, and the Televoter's Wlidcard would be Croatia. For SF2, the Jury's Wildcard would be Austria, and the Televoter's Wildcard would be Denmark. It think this system would bring some excitement to the Semis. The thing with Croatia in 2021 was that while was placed 10th by both the Jury and Televoters, it was completely overruled by the televoters by voting for Norway & Azerbaijan over Croatia by a fair amount. Norway was ahead of Croatia by 24 points, which was enough to qualify. Actually it was worse this year as Azerbaijan qualified completely through jury points while getting nul points with the televoters, which is a first since semis were introduced. That's the major flaw with the current system, one side can completely overrule one country from another country from qualifying if they voted hard enough. Thank you for reading my Ted Talk!
@@j.t.5178 yes, great idea, Albina actually would have been both, lol. And the best idea is to finally get rid of the Big 5, maybe let the host country perform in the final though, bc it probably would transform into a higher interest in actually going into the arena, I get that. But why the Big 5 (and Germany in particular)? Other than that, Malta would have qualified everytime except for this year. (in most of these years probably even if the Big 5 were in the mix, eg 2015). This year, Croatia and North Macedonia would have qualified with the juries (both only in 10th place, so they probably wouldn't have qualified for the final if the Big 5 were in the mix, especially in a strong Big 5 year like 2022) and Albania and Cyprus via televote, I guess. So basically the Top 12 would have qualified. But there could be cases where a song does well with the juries, but is last or 2nd to last with the public and only 14th or 15th overall and still would qualify. In 2009 and 2010 they've had a similar system in place where it was basically all televoting in the semi finals and the Top 9 countries advanced and the juries picked a song out of these non qualifiers (once even a song that only came in 13th)
@@j.t.5178 nice idea but I don't know if it would work since the big 5 are bit biggest sponsors of the eurovision. without them it would be hard. I have another idea: taking a wild card from each semi after announcing the 10 qualifier. so we have two possible wildcards. and one of them will be chosen by voting of the public during Sunday, In sunday evening they announce which one of the wildcards is going to the finale. and it can't be any song. only songs that were in the top 10 of at least one set of points, so in 2021, the wildcard from semi-1 would be Croatia (and not Romania since Croatia qualified in both juries and public) and from semi-2 Denmark . and after the semi they would do voting in the public between them. and the winner goes to the final. so it's a final of 27 songs. same as it was in 2015.

'Crisalide (Vola)" by Valentina Monetta' (San Marino 2013) was herself's strongest entry (out of four, fact fans). Shame she didn't make it to the final. 'Tick-Tock' by Albina (Croatia 2021) is a slick slice of danceable pop. Tres professional. Out of all the entries featured in this compliation my biggest disappointment was and still is 'Keep The Faith' by Tamara Gachechiladze (Georgia 2017); which is my favourite entry for that year. Love the way the song builds, the emotional narrative, and that vocal (all topped off with fabulous hair). Now to learn how to pronounciate her surname.☀️🧡

Don't worry, this is likely a running order error, since every time Croatia has been a non-qualifier since 2016, the country has performed in 10th, 11th, or 12th position. In 2022, every country that performed 11th ever, placed 11th, so North Macedonia and Croatia were unlucky in that regard, Thankfully, in 2023, Croatia is set to perform in either 1-7th positions, hopefully not an opener or a 2nd position song, but Croatia should qualify with the right song this year.

Both 2021 songs still hurt
Poland 2019 and Croatia 2021 sting most
2021 was the most painful for me, because Denmark and Croatia were both on my top 5 that year.
And also, North Macedonia 2008 and 2009 should have qualified.
Cipela!💕
Poor Macedonia
Absolutely. Especially this year, when they lost out to a song that received 0 points from the televote.
@@in_wino_veritas 20*
@@rexx9152 He/she meant Azerbaijan, the country that placed 10th in the semi final. Azerbaijan got 91 points from the jury but got 0 points from the televote and still managed to qualify, many fans were shock to know about it when the semi finals' result was revealed. If it was in the old voting system, Azerbaijan wouldn't have been qualified.
@@Thomas.Christodoulou they shanged their name and kept the Macedonia part
If so, next year you should vote for Macedonia much, much more!
Bosnia and Macedonia should have qualified in 2016.
Also justice for Poland who should have qualified instead of Belarus
3 of these songs were in my top 10:
Malta was my 10th in 2011.
Bulgaria was my 6th in 2012.
San Marino was my 9th in 2013.
And I also remember Moldova 2015, who was my 11th.
Estonia 2004, Serbia 2009, Romania 2018 are my favorites of the bunch
Can you make duet entries in eurovison
No one would have understand the feeling of almost there more than North Macedonia and Croatia. To me most of the almost qualified songs were better than the 10th place songs that qualified to the final.
North Macedonia were screwed over twice because of the juries.
agree
What is a wildcard?
Ljubav je not qualified for the final is such a shame
sooo many countries from former Yugoslavia not qualifying. That hurts!
A suggestion: "All Debut Entries"
Many fan favourites for qualification in this video, however, for me, Romania 2018 is the most robbed out of these entries. Definitely in my top 10 of 2018!
Finland 2010 is my biggest heartbreak. In my home country. 😭
I'm feel sorry for Croatia can't reach the 11th place wall for 2 times by the Scandinavians but... I believe for next song can will can climb to reach the Semi-Final wall (I'm from Thailand and i cheering Croatia Thank you 🇹🇭♥️🇭🇷)
Don't worry, this is likely a running order error, since every time Croatia has been a non-qualifier since 2016, the country has performed in 10th, 11th, or 12th position.
@@sevenoxia7199 You're welcome thank you...
To hell with it would have be in the final 🤟
Agree! It's just oozes positive rebellious energy
Aisel x my heart💔💔💔
4:20 How this is the only NQ swedish entry?
Entries that deserved to qualify in my opinion:
- San Marino 2013🇸🇲
- Croatia 2021🇭🇷
- Denmark 2021🇩🇰
- Israel 2004🇮🇱
- North Macedonia 2008🇲🇰
- Finland 2010🇫🇮
- Portugal 2014🇵🇹
- Georgia 2017🇬🇪
Other entries that deserved to qualify that are not in this video:
- Bulgaria 2011🇧🇬
- San Marino 2022🇸🇲
- Ireland 2015🇮🇪
- Iceland 2016🇮🇸
- Finland 2017🇫🇮 (my winner)
- Switzerland 2018🇨🇭
- Andorra 2007🇦🇩
- Slovakia 2010🇸🇰
- Cyprus 2022🇨🇾
- Greece 2018🇬🇷
- Ireland 2022🇮🇪
- Switzerland 2008🇨🇭
- Albania 2006🇦🇱
+ Latvia and Iceland in 2023
Croatia in 2021 should’ve qualified! Still salty about it now as it was my favourite song from that year
Valentina Monetta, Sofi Marinova, Anna Bergendahl, Albina. So underrated. And we shall not forget Norma John.
Why doesn't the winners recap include the points?
why should it include points?
@@jezinlv6516 because the other recaps include. Also why not?
But in the end - they didn't :))
2008 is great
Israel 2004, Portugal 2007, Malta 2011, San Marino 2013, Lithuania 2019, Denmark 2021.
Thank god (well Zdob si Zdub) that Witloof Bay didn't make it. San Marino 2013, Poland 2019 and Denmark 2021 still sting though.
Also, credit to North Macedonia 2022 for almost qualifying with a generic song with generic staging - Andrea absolutely killed it on stage, what a performer.
So many lost finals for Macedonia, Such a good songs didnt qualify in the Grand Final.
North Macedonia and Croatia 2022 are Better than the real 10th Place
Absolutely. Both Mia and Andrea deserved to qualify. Much better than Azerbaijan and Iceland (or at least Switzerland, which only got 11 points from the televote and then went on to get 0 points from the public in the Grand Final)
@@in_wino_veritas I agree for Azerbaijan, even though both songs were quite generic but I truly think that Iceland deserved to be in the final, so yeah, I really regret Mia Dimšić not being in the final but instead of Switzerland, not Iceland
@@alexn1044 yeah, I also think that she should have been in the final instead of Switzerland, not instead of Iceland. I just wrote it that way, bc both Iceland and Azerbaijan finished 10th in their semi.
Belgium 2011 was a joke
Azerbaijan should have reached the 2019 final
I prefer croatia 2021 to norway
Also poor N.Macedonia, they actually qualified in 2008 & 2009 but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 🖤🇲🇰
They NQ in 2008 and 2009
@Rebecca Woolf didnt know anything about this though im a Hardcore ESC Fan, how did the Wildcard work?
@Rebecca Woolf wtf how dumb was that, i would have liked to see Serbia in the Final
I'm still mad to this day as Macedonian about it ☠️, especially considering the songs we sent then were actually pretty good (NextTime particularly)
@@raezzerinodeluxe yes, but with a voting system that didn't make any sense and that fortunately has been replaced by something more coherent
6:45 if she took a stage at the grand final she could be the best among her country's Eurovision History
Slovenia 2008 failed by a margin of 36 points, not 6.
Keep in mind that Poland was the jury's choice so it wouldn't have mattered if Slovenia received more points
Macedonia 2022 the most amazing song
2020 SF1: 🇭🇷
2020 SF2: 🇬🇪
----------
My Predictions for 2023
SF1: 🇱🇻
SF2: 🇦🇹
Glen Vella should sing One point instead of one life 😂
Fun fact : some of these songs should qualified with an other system vote like finland in 2010 in front of moldova (yes the epic sax guy😢), malta in 2010 in front of Azerbaïdjan or croatia in 2021 in front of switzerland
I'm happy that Moldova qualified over Finland in 2010, tbh. And Malta instead of Azerbaijan? looool, they weren't 10th, but yeah, interesting thought. If that would have happened, Italy probably would have won. Croatia vs Switzerland was this year, last year would have been Croatia vs Norway or Belgium. But you're right, Croatia should have qualified over Switzerland.
Here is a drinking game:
Take a shot every time a Balkan country entry is shown in this video
You will be in an ambulance on deaths door by 2016 or so
The following would have been qualifiers under the opposite voting system (which changed in 2016):
- Finland 2010 (at the expense of Moldova)
- Sweden 2010 (Ireland)
- Belgium 2011 (Moldova)
- Croatia 2012 (not in the video, Norway)
- Portugal 2014 (San Marino)
- Malta 2015 (Azerbaijan)
- Switzerland 2017 (not in the video, Denmark)
- Azerbaijan 2018 (Lithuania)
- Latvia 2018 (not in the video, Hungary)
- Poland 2019 (Belarus)
- Lithuania 2019 (Denmark)
- Croatia 2022 (Switzerland)
- Cyprus 2022 (not in the video, Azerbaijan)
Esc crimes: Tick Tock!!! Crisalde(Vola), Warrior, Keep the faith
I also liked: Danca conmigo, Ljubav je svuda 💕, quero ser tua 🤩, Ljubav je, Run with the lions, ove os pa hinanden (kinda guilty pleasure lately 😅)

North Macedonia 🇲🇰 2009 hurts so much! The song was fire and should have made it to the final that year, especially over Romania 🇷🇴 which is just meh to me.
I still can't believe that Croatia '22,was so close to qualification... I mean....🤮
I think that lithuania in 2019 should've bearen denmark (hate the latter song) and that croatia should've beat Iceland this year
I guess i just don't like slow songs
Just to note in 2011 Belgium lost to Moldova by one points and Romania was in their semi final and gave the 12 to Moldova….
wow, so close! i'm glad moldova made it through though, I'm sorry!
I eman dissapointed by this system
Croatia 2021 was unfairly robbed
And so as Bulgaria 2012 i mean 0 points that’s not fair. Norway qualified in both cases and 2012 was bad and Bulgaria was one of the best that year.
Also Poland 2006 did hot qualify because COUNTRIES NOT PARTICIPATING chose Others to qualify. Otherwise Poland qualified.
And North Macedonia NQ TWO times due to a WILD CARD ISNT ACCEPTABLE.
And i can’t get over the fact that Azerbaijan qualified with 0 points from the televote. Otherwise North Macedonia qualified and it’s my taste but she Slayed and i like the song so happy she finished 11th but sad that she JUST MISSED out the final.
Denmark 2021 robbed¡¡¡¡¡
Top 9 should qualify with the 10th country being the highest in the televote not to finish in the top 9
North Macedonia was 4 times so close to the final. Poland 3 times.
in 2015 it was ireland 😂
Vola and Igranka are still the most robbed songs!
This will sound controversial but i'm lowkey glad Azerbaijan did some cheating to get through in 2022,sure it was embarrassing but if they didn't we'd see "Circles" in the final and i'd much rather see "fade to black" in the final then "Circles"
Bulgaria and Lithuania should've won :( 7:37 5:57
Estonia 2004 was robbed
Please, in those years the country with name North Macedonia did not exist. That (unfortunate) name for my country is implemented about 4 years ago
Wtf is that first entry omfg😂💀
Interesting how most of these are awful songs that certainly did not deserve to qualify while many others that ended below them did.
Alternative titles for the video:
1) "A History of Bullets Dodged in Eurovision Semi-Finals (2004-2022)"
2) "How the Semi-Finals Were Designed to Screw the Balkans Over, 15-Minute Video" 😂
So Macedonia is the unluckiest country in Eurovision. On second place there are Poland and Serbia.
Its so sad that in 2011, we won over Belgium.Belgium song is better than ours.
In most of these songs the singer just mumbles in english, just speak in your language damn
Why are jou using the gay flag in the eurovision logo? Nothing about Eurovision is gay! Why jou make eberythig gay?
What's the problem? It is certainly LGBT friendly, everyone can participate and win, no matter the sexuality or gender, they're inclusive.
Wth? There's always at least 1 participant from LGBT community almost every year(this year's Australia and Iceland for example)
