  • I made this quick video on how to flush the power steering for a 2004 Volvo S40 T5. I'm aware that I said antifreeze when I meant to say power steering. There are two types of options for power steering one is ATF the other is a green German type power steering cost about $19 to $27 a can depending on region.

    Good vid, good visuals. Thanks.
Someone recommended me to remove the old fluid from the reservoir with a turkey baster, refilling, driving around and repeat about 5-6 times.
I have not tried it but it sounds a lot simpler.

I recommend connecting a vacuum pump (such as the one you can buy from Harbor Freight for about $80 or LiquiVac makes a really good one for $40) to the low pressure hose you disconnected. Pull a vacuum and drain the oil as you keep adding new fluid into the reservoir. This way you dont to have run the car and risk running the pump dry. You can also take your time and stop the vacuum at any time.
