My latest lil Tinker project! A mini inflatable wacky waving air dancing tubeman! Or 'Fry' as named by one of my insta friends! And yes he's french pun surely intended
I wanted to teach myself a lil bit hardware and electronics, so I made him out of old broken stuff that I learnt how to fix! I fixed the hairdryer motor, adaptor and switch! I am not an engineer by any means! I made so many mistakes in the process, (including electrifying myself 3 times) and documented parts of it! Din't want to make hours of video, so this is a short "tutorial" with a tiny bit of explanation. For parts I did not explain, you can ask me in the comments, and also I am sure there are many people on youtube who can explain these things better than me.

I’m 59 years old and have been making and fixing things for a long time. But your video inspired me. See smart young people like yourself is very encouraging. We have some challenges ahead of us and we will need you.
@4:18 "I'm a proud mama !". literally..... spit my coffee on my monitor. Well done. I let here with a smile on my face.
Your creativity and resourcefulness are inspiring!
You have a great future ahead of you no matter what path you chose.
The zipper hot glued to the wall wart halves is brilliant!
Isn't it! I laughed with glee at the idea, I've never seen that before, and now I want all mine to be this way!
Haha! It was a very reasonable solution at that moment, worked perfect :D But just in case, if anyone decides to do this one day, maybe not use a metal zipper, or be extra cautious if you do :D
Nicely done! I loved that you showed the paint failures and I didn't know about the coils being used to regulate the current. A proud mother!
haha yes! I thought it's super smart when I found out about the coil too!... I knew that not every paint sticks to plastic but I totally forgot I don't know how! I actually switched on the fan after spraying it, disaster, still cleaning the space from all this yellow paint! I found one type of spray called 'Krylon' (I think) this one can bond to plastic, and also saw some use copic markers in an air brush! I wont find any of these in Egypt, so he will just slowly chip for now haha!
This is soo amazing, I love these inflatable guys!
I want to say good for you that you didn't let that ignorant carpenter stop your progress. thank you for being an inspiration to women.
He was just lazy haha It amazes me that carpenter didn't even have a single clamp but he creates really good kitchens, the whole cabinets and all.. and not a single clamp! haha.. Thanks
Awesome . Great job making the custom build wacky wavy tube guy
I truly appreciate your creativity, humbleness and persistence. Please never stop.
Thank you Alex! I am trying not to.
I like how you celebrate failures and successes alike. Well done!
Thanks! Yup my tinker endeavors are basically a series of failures and one successful attempt haha
Nice work! It was interesting to see all the discarded hair dryers. I live in Oklahoma in the USA. Generally, people are not very likely to try any kind of repair here. There is certainly a second hand market, but only for functional items. I like repairing stuff, and teach my kids that it is always worth at least trying to repair something before throwing it out. I'll show them your video, I think they'll like it a lot. We may have to make a wacky waving inflatable tube man of our own. Keep up the good work.
Oo that would be awesome! Share a photo or tag me anywhere once you make one! Would love to see your wacky waving inflatable tube man!
Here in Cairo, only a certain segment or class do fix things, but others who are more privileged just buy another whenever anything breaks! I spent the last couple of years collecting some of these things and taking it apart, and most of the time it's just a loose wire, an easy fix.
Cairo is an enormous city so I am sure it runs the gamut! My oldest daughter (6 years old) loves taking stuff apart, she will get a real kick out of your stop motion videos. I am a carpenter, and I am pretty sure I have an old blower motor we can use for a wacky waving man. I'll post a picture when we get one built.
Awesome! I also posted this as an instructable, so you'll find a step by step guide there, but it's really an easy project, if I (someone who knows nothing about engineering and electricity) can do it, then anyone can! haha
whoever "thumbs downed" is jealous of your skills! I thought I'd share my experience with you because I'm still laughing at myself. I had the idea to make one of these and was super excited to find your upcycled version! So I bought as many blow dryers as I could find at goodwill and some Nylon track pants that I'm going to sew as the body once I get the blower working... I watched your video a few times and just glossed over the things I didn't understand. The first being "the heating element acts as a resistor." I then figured you were just fixing the pieces you were using, not understanding that the 12V is necessary to not short the circuit with the 125V plug the blow dryer is originally attached to. Thankfully I only shocked myself four times and blew the fuse that I plugged into maybe 5 or 6 times before I decided to really get to the bottom of what I was doing wrong. Back to Goodwill for me, I'm not giving up!
oo nooo! hahaha Take care please! :s :D You need an adapter to change the volts, or you can use a 12v battery pack and just run the motor with batteries. Stay safe and shock free haha Let me know the end result!!
NO!!!!
Gosh, you're amazing! So much knowledge and skill in how things work and how to fix them...and for the sake of an inflatable waiving tubeman which turned out so adorable! 💖
Wow, this is so cool! I love how you showed the whole process, and the end result is super cute! ♥
No joke, i need one of those too
This is so precious! I've never seen CZcamsrs from Cairo before, but I'm glad the algorithm chose you!
I hope you continue engineering projects!
Thank you so much! I try! It's a bit hard at the moment balancing between work projects and personal yt stuff, but hopefully in 2021 I'll be back to making more videos on youtube.
@@dinaaamin Thanks for responding to my comment! Speaking as someone in STEM, it's more important that someone with your talents and passion has real influence in industry than that you're a youtuber lol.
There are some big youtube channels out there in the educational side of youtube that have real careers, so it's totally possible to find a balance!
ChubbyEmu, MedLifeCrisis, and Practical Engineering come to mind, but there are plenty of others :)
Just share projects with us when you have the chance. Even without a big audience, it's nice just to have your work out there.
@@fuehnix Thank you yes I am working on finding that balance, and it's working out so far, but slowly haha I work in advertising so I wouldn't say that's a good use of my talents haha I usually end up doing very non creative client work. But things are slowly changing, working like crazy this year to save up for a studio/workshop place, I post a lil bit more on instagram but couldn't find the time in 2020 for youtube. I have so many projects prepared for it and can't wait to share it here next year!!!
I loved the zipper to close the adapter! And the final product is amazing :D
Thank you! Best thing I've made so far! Makes me laugh every single time :D
I love it! Great job!!!
Dinaa, well done, your spirit of learning and implementing ideas is indeed commendable
Thank you :)
My first thought when I saw the hot glue gun on that PSU: "been there, done that!", but suddenly a wild zipper appears :D that's awesome :)
Haha! I know, I thought of that because I like taking broken products apart (I also animate them) and the old ones that someone tried to fix was always hot glued together and it's a paaaiin to try to take apart with breaking it into pieces, so I needed a solution :D
This is so neat 💛
Love the zipper on the power supply!
The reason the first motor didn't run smoothly is because it was drawing too much power from the adapter, causing the adapter to shut down. After a short pause the adapter restarts and the motor again draws too much power, causing the adapter to shut down. Hence the pulsing/jerking.
PS: Zipper is awesome!
Ooooo thank you so much! I couldn't figure this out. So if I use a different adapter it might work, or is this a faulty motor (the coil maybe) that can not be fixed?
A different adapter might work, one with lots more mA. Laptop chargers are good power supplies, very powerful!
ooo yes! I'll try this one day. Thanks!
"And.... Im a proud mama!" XD So Cute!
Your work is absolutely brilliant. I rarely follow anyone on youtube. There is something so refreshing to observe someone with genuine child like curiosity, to finish a project from start to finish and have the patience and the resilience to do so, is something rare to witness today. God bless your incredible mind and tactical tinkering hands! I am your fan :) You have my support on patreon.
Thank you Adam! Means a lot to me! Hopefully soon I'd be able to tinker full time and post more videos :)
@@dinaaamin 🔴 What Is Islam?
🔴 Islam is not just another religion.
🔵 It is the same message preached by Moses, Jesus and Abraham.
🔴 Islam literally means ‘submission to God’ and it teaches us to have a direct relationship with God.
🔵 It reminds us that since God created us, no one should be worshipped except God alone.
🔴 It also teaches that God is nothing like a human being or like anything that we can imagine.
🌍 The concept of God is summarized in the Quran as:
📖 { “Say, He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He does not give birth, nor was He born, and there is nothing like Him.”} (Quran 112:1-4) 📚
🔴 Becoming a Muslim is not turning your back to Jesus.
🔵 Rather it’s going back to the original teachings of Jesus and obeying him.
Congratulations! This is really cool. Hope you make more of this!
Thank you Alex! Yes I do many projects like this, I also like stop motion and playing around with objects in general, so I'll share about this as well :)
Excellent.
Awesome! Thank you. And thanks for also telling us about the bits that didn't go so well.
haha yes yes don't do my mistakes :D
I just found your CZcams channel and you're pretty cool. I love everything from your trip to the carpenter, to your choice of music and headscarves. :D
haha thanks Vishal!
So good
You’re so creative!!
I made one and it is so awesome I’m enjoying it
You made my day!!! I really wanna see it, please how me on instagram maybe or email me, you'll find me @dina.a.amin there :)
This is amazing work. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! :D
Thank you!
I want to make one of those to entertain my indoor cat.
haha omg your cat will go nuts! :D Did you eventually make one?
You're awesome! Good job!
First of all, wow
Second what an odd Project :P
To the reason why I comment. This is Seriously awesome!
You have only the most basic home gamer tools like a Dremel and a soldering iron, no fancy *cnc machine, barely any bought parts only upcycled parts.
Aaand you didn't stop after that fool messed up your Case and adapted to the new problem.
I really like to seen more stuff like that
Cheers :)
Thank you! Yea it amazes me in Egypt how carpenters can make whole kitchens with very few drill bits and other tools, he didn't even own clamps haha!
Wow that´s super great
Thank you!!
Do you know that you can buy an inflatable tube guy online!!!
Great video! Are you going to pick up one of the new desktop versions? I just did a video on them a few weeks back. They’re pretty cool.
Hello, I love that you are a creative person, I’m also a creative person, and I think that is what makes you unique! But this is a little out of my range of projects! But anyways great video and thanks for sharing! I hope that you have a wonderful year! - Blake Whitsitt. Aka Loki wolf.
Loli Wolf lookin' to score a little Egyptian Mamma sweet sweet poon. Such a stud.
You are brilliant ❤️
Aw, stumbled upon this while looking for something else. This is too adorable! I want my own now. :D
Haha Thanks! Best thing I've made so far :D You gotta make one, you wont regret it! :D
You’re amazing
Great job👍🏻

Love. This.
Great job!
Shukran Ahmed!!
Quedó muy bueno 👍👍👍
you did it,! your so smart
Hello, did you make more of these tube mans?? And do you sell them? I really want one but i failed making it and i can't make it work.
oo no! I am working on something similar but can't share publicly yet, send me directly (you'll find my email here)
You are adorable, and you do good work. Very inventive, it's amazing.
Thank you so much!
So cool! :D
😆🙌🏼
Cool zipper idea!
Cool i love it !!!
Thanks Fadyyy!!
nice!
You are so cool!
!me encanta muchoi
where did you get the tube with arms?
I made it out of plastic packaging that was shaped like a tube, I jus cut pieces and taped them in a tube to make the arms and taped it to the tube.
Hey dina, love your work. =)
I thought about making one with my students for a decent price. Sadly there arent many dryers of one kind availible for my 20+ student so i thought about using an computer cooling fan. Now i got the problem that 1. i cant use electronics for the socket cause it would need a special certification and test phase of each product in the end with repeatingly checks which is just a hassle for me, the school and students as well so i thought about using a batterie. Got that but the power output is quit low which is still in an acceptable range but - next to the question, how you managed that your dancing man goes down. I tried similiar things but in the end he just "stands" all the time which cracks me a little. He wont deflat no matter what i do
Papaya Papa thanks! Well I’d guess that the fan is not the right type, these would work with blower fans, they look like hamster wheels. It can propel more volume of air and because the tube is open from one end, it causes a difference in air pressure so it falls at some point and this fluctuates so it dances. Search for diy air blowers, there are some tutorials for making your own fans, then all you will need are 12v motors and a battery :) hope this helps!
Hey Dina wow! I am amazed by the fast answer. I will try and see how it works but already a big thanks for the hint =)
i love this so much! i want a mini WWIAF Tube Man
MAKE ONE!!! It's the best thing ever!
i might make a small army of them!
haha please, someone has to!
That's really neat. So!!!
Please tell me what you ended up doing with him!!?!?!?
He sits on my desk still dancing :D
You are my hero 😃
Beautiful
Ha Ha Ha that is the funniest! I will have to try that. I must have missed something though. Does the air flow constantly or is there some sort of interrupter that makes the wavy arm guy fall down periodically ?
Thanks :D Glad you enjoyed it! Yes the air flows constantly but powerful, it's because the tubeman is open from one end and is flexible and this is what interacts with the airflow, this guy explains it with laws and everything :D : czcams.com/video/etuhgp73kqI/video.html
I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS VIDEO!! And now I’m going to hack your creation to make myself a Harry Potter Whomping Willow!!!😁😁😁 But if you beat me to it I won’t be mad 😛
hahahahaha! Awesome!!! show me when you are done :)
Wtf "Oh you wanted the hole the same size?" Dude. I woulda been tripping. Hope it was no charge🤞
Big brain intensifies*
Muy bien.
Thank you!
Eres superinteligente!!! 😁👍
What kind of material did you use for the actual guy?
it was just regular plastic packaging that was in a tube form..
@@dinaaamin ok. i am using a walmart bag and it works really well for a smaller one
awesome! I am glad you built one too!!
Really good project... i could be improved if put some arduino to control the fan output :) instead u stay turn on and off the fan :)
Thanks! What do you mean by turn on and off the fan? :D
Your Algerian fan ever... From instagram 😉👍👍👍👏👏👏💪💪
Solenza Calis Marhabaaa 👋🏻✨

How does this only have 1k likes tf 😹
haha Nice :)
You can do anything!
Wow :D you are quite knowledgeable about electronics, what did you major in ?
hahaha nooooo! I don't know much about electronics, I actually made this project to teach myself about electronics! You can learn a lot from others on youtube :D I studied Industrial Design and we don't learn anything mechatronics related there or anything :D
well you are doing a great job :D i was amazed, i thought you would be more artistic than scientific, but your explanation of the circuitry was on point.
Thanks! Then I might have the brains to continue to learn electronics *crosses her fingers* haha Only time will tell :D
😮😮😮tube Guy a 😮😮😊
I am a manufacturer of inflatable air blower motor ❤️
