In today's video I talk about Falco and whether or not he is the best Spacie in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. I saw a tweet from Zomba saying that he thought Falco was, so I thought this would be a good time for an in depth analysis of the character while playing on Elite Smash

Falco is often placed in the high to mid-tier range. He has good combo potential, decent range on his attacks, and his aerial attacks are great for juggling opponents. Only one request I have for playing Falco: FIX HIS UPSMASH PLEASE

Nah, first thing they should fix is his recovery. Firebird should be longer, curvable, chargable, and end-lag on midair Phantasm should be a mere quarter of what it currently is.

As a Alph(olimar) main fighting vs falco would seem pretty difficult considering Falco could reflect pikmin smash attacks and side b but i feel it’s even because you could whistle his up air at the top of the screen where he usually would end the combo with that and his reflector is a big commitment and you can’t use it while falling off stage really so it’s kinda easy to call out compared to Wolf/Fox
Someone should make some kind of “Agenda” to go more in depth on this character

He's probably the easiest to pick up and play, but he's definitely the worst. It's definitely Fox>Wolf>Falco.
You are just putting them in order based on the main player or players who reps each character lmao. If Light didn’t exist, I guarantee your list would have fox at 2nd best MAX.
@@nicstead3820no, I'm ordering them based on who I think is better. Fox is definitely better than Wolf now. Just because Light is the only top rep doesn't mean Fox isn't crazy. He's showing everyone Fox's busted.

@@nicstead3820 but now that we know what Fox can do, you can obviously tell the character is really good. Is that not obvious to you?
@@Eggss_B it doesn’t really matter what a character “can do” if like 1-2 people “can do” it at that skill level. We’ve seen what Wolf can do as well, and pretty much any top player can have a competitive wolf. Ease of use is a big factor to determine if a character is good. Not saying fox is hard, but you don’t see anyone else doing what Light does but you see about 70 wolf’s taking sets off great players all the time.

Dude I feel that. Can't tell you how many times I've been in that scenario. They could've at least made that spike easier to land if it's gonna be that weak. Better yet, make it strong enough that you DON'T have to double dip.
falco’s dair is crazy active enough as is, the spike hitbox is out for like 5 frames, plus the move is a nuts combo starter
@@yeehaw8089 4 frames. The remaining 9 frames don't spike. 10 frames of start up. Great combo starter/kill setup? Sure. But dude... so many other characters have MUCH better dair spikes for closing out a stock, at WAY earlier percents, which is just insulting to Falco because I feel that dunking people should be one of his primary ways of taking stocks. Not fishing for a back-air. The dair knockback that Falco deserved in this game was handed over to Captain Falcon instead; a character who's entire kit consists of viable kill moves, including his friggin jab...
Dair offstage isn't that easy to land with Falco and he gets reverse-edgegaurded so easily. If he DOES land it he should get way more for it, especially when he's mostly equipped just for racking damage rather than finishing and has horrendous disadvantage state. Heck, I'd say Phantasm spike should be at least as powerful as what his dair currently is.
Vars III made a video recently where he pretty much summed up these points as "Falco has the best punish game of the spacies, but good punish game can only get you so far when higher skilled players are going to be making less mistakes and punishing them becomes more difficult"
I agree that Falco has the most polarizing matchup spread of the space animals, which is why I thought it was weird the MU chart with Tilde had only slight disadvantage matchups, but I still think Falco is good and I love hearing Larry explain characters and mechanics

I think wolf is the objectively best space furry. F-air to B-air with wolf is one of the most broken kill confirms/string mixups.

Wolf is the best. Falco has the least bad matchups but lacks power and has the worst frame data but is the most combo seceptible.
Helicopter Kick is soo bad. 😅 I much prefer Axe Kick. Just my opinion.

Falco is the most annoying spacie to fight online imo. They all think theyre so cool. Wolf's moveset doesnt carry him enough that I'm scared unless the player themself is good, and Foxes can be scary but i also feel like they blow up the most easily

Wolf is definitely the easiest. He has the best neutral, the easiest kill confirms, the strongest single hit KO moves, a kill throw, etc. Though Falco does have one of the easier combo games in the game overall I'd say

@@im_Spade_ having the best of something doesn't mean it's easy... Wolf has the worst recovery of the whole three so naturally you have to play way better offstage. Cannot edge-guard that well unlike Falco (and his edge-guards are easy), then Falco has the easiest combos I've ever seen. Haven't fought one Falco who couldn't do at least 5 combos. Wolf may have the best Neutral but if you aren't that good it doesn't matter. Falco has so many good BNB combos that you can suck in neutral, land one hit and now you dished out 50% with a few easy follow-ups. Wolf has no real cheese other than his smash attacks and down throw, but if you just space him out he can't do anything. Meanwhile Falco has a much more annoying laser that gimps and he got a better reflector that has a big hitbox. Not to mention his ridiculous Dair that spikes so easily and starts several combos.
Against short characters as Falco, just spam autocancel dair. It's super frustrating to deal with.
