Step into the world of fun and learning with Pleasantville Public School's Board Game Club! For over a decade, this club has been a hub of excitement and education for students of all grades. From its humble beginnings to now, the club has evolved into a vibrant community where everyone is welcome.
The club's founder, Deborah Tuchow, teacher at Pleasantville P.S., is driven by a passion for engaging students, initiated the club with the support of the school administration. Over the years, it has become a platform for social interaction, academic enrichment, and leadership development. Through lunchtime sessions and evening events, students immerse themselves in a variety of games, fostering friendship and learning simultaneously.
"It also gives them, builds
their interaction skills, for turn taking and losing and winning
gracefully and just having a set of parameters
that they have to work through" an important aspect of the club, as mentioned by Deborah in an interview.
As students progress through the club, they not only enjoy playing games but also take on leadership roles, becoming instructors for their peers. This unique approach not only cultivates a sense of responsibility but also enhances their teaching and communication skills.
