i hate how leah had to justify herself. aryan and walker - nothing against them - just got to share fun anecdotes or talk abt more lighthearted topics. leah on the other hand has to justify her place in her role, which shows shes aware of how people speak about her online. None of them look like the characters theyre portraying and yet its leah who gets the most heat - and we all know why…

But we don't want her to change anything from the character, and we don't want them to change it so it can fit her, we dont want to see leah's Annabeth. We want to see the Annabeth from the books, doesn't matter if she is white , if she can give us that, I'm totally gonna be pleased, but so far they don't seem to be promoting it as such.

I want a girl who is brave and tough and kind and vulnerable and open to learning and who accepts her mistakes and becomes a better hero, friend and person along the way. It doesn’t matter to who she is in her heart if she’s blonde or brown haired. What matters is who she is. And so many people, including Rick, have said that she is Annabeth in alll of the way that matters. Just like Rick says, if you can’t get over how someone looks then you clearly didn’t read the books hard enough.
I gotta say I’m not a fan of changing a characters appearance from books (and I wasn’t at the start of this show either) however I have definitely turned around due to the fact Rick vouched for her and I’m excited to see how she portrays annabeth. I still wish they could’ve at least dyed her hair blonde and gave walker black hair as well.
@@chadhiggins6884the adults probably wouldn't have wanted to have young kids constantly bleaching and dying their hair, which is completely fair, since this is a TV show and will continue a lot longer than just a movie. as for changing the appearance of a character from the book, disney holds open call auditions, so as long as the race of the original character has nothing to do with the character's story or plot line, it is up for anyone.

I'm 23 and I grew up with these books along with the Heroes of Olympus. I can’t wait to watch the series and see Rick Riordan's vision come to life!

this is so iconic. I was a major fan back in middle school. Im 25 now lmao. this is most of all for the kids, but also for those kids that were there when the books were popping off back then. this is for our inner child. now that I am seeing the interviews of these 3 kids, the memories of the books and that spark of joy is all coming back. they truly are the characters its crazy! I always felt frustrated and wondered why Rick Riordan didn't get the series adaptation he deserved- maybe it was all about timing. I seriously think these 3 are meant for the roles- and we will all see that once the show is out. I only hope they can do all 5 seasons, and we will watch them grow up and grow into themselves as actors its so cool. Just like with HP. This doesn't happen often!

22 read this book in 3rd grade, not happy, NOT happy. I have a feeling we won't get more than a season... As much as I want to like it due to my respect for Rick Riordan... 1st: Grover; I am not hating i love the vibe he puts out and he is definitely Grover! But! I was hoping to see more in the 1st episode. 2nd: Annabeth; I am not racist but, she was blonde and had grey eyes in the book... I love her acting on ep.2, she definitely displayed her fierce side, her wise and sarcastic vibe...But the authenticity is what killed it for me. I thought they weren't going to make any more Percy Jackson Films, but I guess I was wrong. If Rick does decide to continue on, then I have nothing but respect to the cast and him. But i certainly won't watch every episode as soon as it comes out, all love, been a fan since 9, PEACE. 💯

Just a thought that I had - the reason people were so upset by the movies was because of the sheer neglect that they showed towards the original books. If it were only appearance, and Alexandra Daddario was perfect as Annabeth in every other way then I doubt people would have complained. But the fact is that they butchered every aspect of her personality and not to mention the point of the book. They simply didn't even care enough about the books to REALISE that she was blonde and made her blonde as an afterthought in the 2nd movie with no explanation. That is so not the case with this series because so much care went into that casting and the plot and the characters. The author was directly involved and so far, from all the clips I've seen of this show, the casting is so perfect for every character because it feels like I'm just reading the books again. Truly, it's a surreal moment and I'm very excited to have such a faithful adaptation

Have you not read the books? The author of the series, Rick Riordan himself added in gay, lesbian, trans, and bisexual main characters in his original books. The series was also written to diversify neurodivergent representation in media. Riordan also owns a fucking imprint to diversify stories based off of other cultures he wanted to write about, but he didn't want to appropriate. It's always been "woke" by conservative standards. Why did you not expect it this time?
