Appearance does matter, we grew up reading descriptions and seeing Percy on the cover of books or in official portraits with black hair, it's a predominant trait of his. Appearance is not the most important thing in the character, but saying that it doesn't matter is too much.

Yeah, having it braided is probably easier for the action scenes though, since it's more out of the way.
Braids WAY easier to keep for something like this. Our hair is NOT the easiest to maintain when natural like that🫠🫠

It's so interesting to watch them get more and more comfortable with each interview they do. They're so new and innocent and it's so refreshing to see. Seeing Rick and Becky looking at those three with pride in their eyes really touches my little writer's heart.
I do love how they are truly just kids but honestly I wish they got some media training because I feel bad seeing how nervous - especially Leah - is, why didn't anyone think to help prepare them so they could feel more at ease???

@@khemikims4058 I honestly just have their best interest in mind, I can't imagine the pressure they're feeling and not having media training doesn't help them feel more prepared. You might not watch a lot of press junkets but I do so I can see the difference. Also, saying someone is nervous is not negative, it's okay to be nervous, I'm not dragging her in any way.
Shoutout to Disney for letting Rick make the show he wanted. It’s SO rare for authors to get the chance to be so involved/in charge, let alone something with a +$100M budget 👏 👏 👏
Ur right it is rare And he FLOPPED…yet again. Was really looking forward to this being good even after seeing the casting. But The show is pretty bad honestly think I only “like” some of it cause I’m such huge fan of the OG books and seeing anything live action is kind of exiting…same reaction I had with the movies. Was really hoping he’d create something special and that really felt like the original book series but instead he’s trying to do way too much. Pretty much making his own version of mistakes that were made for the movies and ruining a lot of what he’s created and fans love. Acting is cringe, casting is absolute shiet, and the story/pacing is just horrible. But hey I guess it’s true what they say about live actions they all pretty much suck lol 😂

i think a lot about how percy jackson was, at its core, created out of an act of love. percy exists because rick wanted his son to feel less alone. and so in all his books he's always finding new ways to make sure that every single kid can see themselves in one of his heroes, no matter their age, race, gender, disability, sexuality, socioeconomic class, anything. the fundamental purpose of these stories is to make kids feel like they, too, could be a hero, and rick has only been getting better and better at representing that, and the love just pours out of these books because at the end of the day, this story was created out of an act of love.

leah is sooo charming and funny in this interview, I love how she carries herself, there is maturity but you can still feel the innocence of a kid in her
I mean fellas, it's a Greek demigod trained by the guy who trained the likes of Hercules with the power of the seas vs a wizard whose default spell is expelliarmus
Yeah there are wizards creative enough to be a threat, but Harry's best spell isn't effective against Percy. Percy can take a massive hit and get back up, and Riptide would just come back lol

I think it was mentioned in Demigods & Magicians (or so, the PJO KC crossover book) that Greek demigods are immune to non-Greek magic.
What was meant with that was obvi Egyptian Magic, but technically that means he’d be immune to Wizard magic

My brother hates reading because he thinks it's a waste of time and he can't get interested in anything but he got obsessed with the Percy Jackson series and even now he's rereading the series and coming into my room every other day to grab the next book. It's one of the few things we can bond over and I love seeing how the books that formed my childhood are helping him now too

@@arrkein well that’s not how it works. disney has to make sure ppl are invested in the show first. also if there’s no script (which rick has established is in the early stages), production can’t move forward.
@@victoriat7961 I know but I'm saying, that's not how they should do it. Because these kids will be too old if they wait too long. Take a leap of faith and just film the seasons year after year, so they can more or less match the ages in the books. Otherwise it'll end up like stranger things.

@@arrkein I see your point but Disney can’t just take a leap of faith, especially not with how their other movies are doing. They can’t afford to have their tv shows or movies flop anymore. As soon as people lose interest they won’t care and they’ll cancel the show. I have faith that the first season will be successful enough to get us another one tho. Timing wise there’s just nothing that can be done, and Rick can work on the script all he likes but without the official green light production can’t move forward.

Haley Riordan is Rick Riordan's son, whom Rick based the demigods' ADHD and dyslexia off of. Haley is somewhere in his mid-twenties now.
