According to Japanese Wikipedia, a number of the contest winners from various games in the Dezaemon series were included on the PS1 game "Dezaemon Kids"
I’ll have to look into that. This mystery may already be solved
Hot dayum how fast I jumped into these comments. Yall the real MVPs. (Love to all my fellow Beast youtubers on tight schedules and belated in keeping up)
Side note, I'm a casual and don't know the process, but if it at all possible to dual steam YT and Twitch similar to Grand Poo Bear started recently. No hesitation to pay for that sub on my end 😅
I'm fairly certain the games that appeared on Dezaemon Kids, which I believe is referring to the "Select 100" are from a contest for the Dezaemon + Playstation version of the game. At least that's what I found in my research
@@creditwhereitsdude7544 I think as a twitch partner he might be not allowed to dual strram it.
But you can always come to his twitch streams, thab has a great community there!
Anyways, happy holidays!
We're doing the endless Dezaemon kids challenge. The goal is to beat 8 levels without running out of lives. If we do we win and if not we lose and if we get to 8 we just keep going
Thab soon: "I am learning every Japanese character, and I mean all of them"
Thanks Thab for giving us 52 holidays a year 🙏
What does that mean?
@@Humblemumble7 52 weeks in a year, 52 fridays in a year. he posts a video pretty much every friday without fault.
@@sleepalaska he's on vido 150... how does that work?
@@Humblemumble7 being super sick, travel, emergencies that halt the process
He start over 1 year ago...
Apparently this game was supposed to have an expansion disk for the 64DD which eventually ended up unreleased. I think this makes a lot of sense - with the 64DD's rewritable disk, people could save their games on there and share them with others. The 64DD even had a modem cartridge so one can imagine sharing games over the late 90s internet. Unfortunately, the 64DD was delayed many times, never released outside Japan and in the end was a commercial failure. This meant all the grandious plans hinging on the 64DD failed.
Thats a neat idea. Though Im not a big fan of peripherals.
It would be interesting to see a universe where the N64 was a Disk Drive machine from day 1, but then again I’m also interested in a universe where Sony Corporate forced the PS1 to use Minidisc.
@@pokepress i want the universes where sega didn't reject the pitch for the disc based system that ultimately became the ps1 or didn't reject the pitch for the 64-bit chip that became the n64. it's wild how badly sega screwed up the transition from 16-bit into the next generation of video game consoles.
@@wfchannel4673 Let's be honest, if Sony's PlayStation didn't exist, the gaming industry would be very different, in a negative sense. Nintendo doesn’t really keep up with tech, always pulling gimmicks. So, I think the success of PlayStation was crucial and healthy for all of us gamers. And Sega, well, no need to say much, they basically self-destructed, unfortunately.
No because if one company didnt do it, then another one will. @Clodd1
Watching the random number generator for the next game is one of the best parts of my week. Thanks for all your work!
'What's that?!'
"oh no!"
I can't wait until "the change" happens I don't know when it does just that it does
@@JellyFilledEmpanadaSooner than you think. Don’t worry though. It’s a good change imo.
@@JellyFilledEmpanada Damn, I'm intrigued now.
Man, the level of tenacity, dedication and endurance to finish this feat is amazing. I hope you keep encouraged until you really beat every single N64 game ever. This deserves so many more views.
I can't wait for Road Rash!
I thought that game creation was impossible without the 64DD, pretty amazing how you can even go as deep as creating your own 3D models! Congrats for the completion, it was pretty entertaining as always :)
Best series on CZcams! I binged and now I’m all caught up! Thanks Thab Happy Holidays
Welcome to the club!
Thab if you're looking for more cute em ups I'd highly reccomend Harmful Park (PS1) Parodius (SNES) or Air Zonk (Turbografx), there are many but I think those three are the most quintessential
4:38 Einhänder on PS1 makes heavy use of this perspective
wow thats fascinating, what a cool editor! theres got to be some forgotten community on the interwebs where people would share their creations, i can imagine some wild things came out of this! if you find out more would love to see a follow up vid!
This game is fascinating. It has to be one of the most ambitious made on the n64. That’s insane
Cotton and Parodius are 2 of the most well known cute-em ups.
RIP next episode. Madden '99 I remember being the worst on the N64.
You the highlight of my week. I went jail this year, when I got out and back home I had July to november to binge through 😂
You sounded SO excited for Madden!
Thanks again for doing this man it’s cool to watch you play games I never got to and probably never will. I think I’m still waiting on one of my favourites but I could be wrong. Road Rash 64
That intro with the questionable body movements. Love it haha
just gonna keep showing support and say i love this series! heres waiting for hybrid heaven!
I love this series! Never heard of this game, what a gem!
I've seen three main shoot em up aesthetics:
1. Space and shit
2. "Cute em up"
3. Anime witch girls
If this was capable of a wider range of games, it could have been the precursor to WarioWare DIY, or perhaps the N64’s answer to Net Yaroze.
I love how at the end of every video he sounds surprised that a number came up.
Yknow, some converted 64DD games, Aleck64 and maybe some Dinosaur Planet or Doubutsu Banchou would be awesome to see on here. Some good cute em ups I know would be Twinbee, Parodius, the Cotton series, Magical Chase, Psycho Soldier and one of my favorites Twinkle Star Sprites. Theres other weird ones like Cosmo Gang The Video, Pistol Daimyo and both of the Yatterman/Time Bokan games on PS1. Maybe ill edit more if i can think of more
0:13 is footage taken from the' adult N64 game spank bank
I replay Star Soldier regularly, looks like I’ve been making the correct choice! Interesting concept though, here.
SS Vanishing Earth is a hidden gem it’s really underrated.
I keep checking back waiting to see when he plays Jet Force. Still waiting.
Merry Christmas bro!!
Happy holidays thank you for blessing us
Four years in the future will come the Beating every Cute 'em up challenge.
9:05 This really made me Tilapia out loud! I will definitely Pike and thumbs-Guppy the video.
One of the other overlooked genres on the console. Shortage of shmups and RPGs usually equates to failure in Japan. Which is what happened.
This reminded me a bit of the game Tyrian, from back in the DOS era. The best ship you could get was in the shape of a carrot, and the best weapons were exploding bananas.
Tyrian was the bomb. so deep and creative, plus it had the great feature of a health bar instead of one hit deaths and you don't lose your equipment. instead, you get a relatively deep ship customizing shop. plus great art and more optional story than any shmup has a right to. i recommend it to everyone. Tyrian 2000 is not hard to find or run on PC.
Madden 99 is at least one of the best Maddens ever.
Impressive to see such an expansive editor in an N64 game.
Wow a 1300 yen prize. That's like $10.
Great vid!
What a weird game, amazing to think they did this on n64, would have been cool for a young Japanese nerd to have. Looking forward to Thab's sports commentator character returning next week!
Hamster corporation are the ones responsible for the Arcade Archives series, so the odds of the these games eventually coming back is very high
Merry christmas to all N64 out there, and Ii mean all of you...
There is no twist tho. 😄🎄🎁
The twist is I’m Jewish!
(Not really, but won’t miss a chance for a stupid joke. Happy holidays!)
Keep going!!
Seems like this game would be much better now with the ability to upload and download user created games.
Pocky and Rocky Reshrined is a cute shmup that just got released this year. Would be a great option to see more of that genre.
Hahaha… the ending. Couldn’t be more thrilled for that next game 😂😂😂
Ooh, would be super cool if those hidden schmups end up being found!!
I'm surprised to see a creation tool on the N64 of all things. The sample games as well also showed some rather good potential. (Maybe an RPG Maker like-engine could have been put together at some point for the N64, grumble, grumble...)
I might be one of the only ones but I can't wait till he plays Ayden chronicles the first mage.
Another one bites the dust! 🎲
🎮
This was a pretty cool one. Too complicated for me, but i love when devs give people tools to mage their own games.
One day jetforce Gemini will be picked
Ooof. Tried playing it a couple days ago on switch. Sure it mighta been fun 20 years ago but man it was annoying.
@@UpwardsIntoTheRabbitHole i remember being hyped up for it as a kid, got it for christmas and... it was kinda meh. I beat the first few levels but it somehow just wasnt fun 🤷♂️
@@TubbyJ420 yeah I'm 36 years old. I remember the way games were. And playing it today it has a lot of issues. The typical junky and wild control that was apparent in many 64 games, the strange auto aiming mixed with FPS that is of course reverse directional.... the bland linear levels and bonkers story. The game is just not fun. Not unplayable but by today's standards is not good in any fashion.
@TubbyJ420 man, idk what planet your on, I had a blast 100 percenting that game.
@@Swordmaster7th I'm sure your very eloquent and explanatory statement is the truth. Truly... what planet could he be on... vividly persuasive...
That game looks really cool!
Keep it going
This game needed the ability to save your custom games to a memory card. With that and a Dex Drive, i can see a homebrew club start up around this.
this was supposed to have a 64DD expansion pack. i like your idea. they should have had bigger memory cards probably in that case.
I've NEVER heard of this game before but it seems super super cool.
I love how this obscure japanese game is actually popular. Props to bringing it back to my mind! I used to love the editor! Also, there is also a NES and SNES Dezaemon game aswell, but i wouldnt reccomend the SNES game coz theres always earbleeding audio playing
its actually probally my audio
There's a game called Blast Works on Wii that has a level editor, and it's so fun. Can make your own backgrounds, enemies, and ships, and orient the camera how you want. Wish that one had released on PC.
history in the making
Seems like one of those games that if people in the US knew more about it would be with 5x as much.
Wait....
Does my dude have 5 years worth of videos in the can already?
This should've gotten a 3DS remake
Let's go!!!
this game is nuts...
Check out some of the TurboGrafx-16 shooters, it's the cute em up king.
I wish this came out in North America.
The rabbits shooting carrots reminds me of gun-nac for the nes. I wonder if that was the first cute-em-up?
Dope!
Whowasphone to the rescue once again
So THIS is how they made the credits for Smash Ultimate
This series has made me realize over 20 years later, and stuff hasnt changed. Amazing games get made in Japan and the west just has to hope the successful ones get a localization. So many of the Japanese N64 games just look so good😢
cringe
12:13
Thanks for your play. BYE BYE!
since the next game is another Madden game, I hope he goes back to posting those halfway through the week, like on Wednesday, and give another on Friday
Hell yeah!
How do these video game nerds not like sports games??! Sports games were always a good time. :)
All of your qualms about this game exist in every other 2.5D SHMUP ever lol. It’s a beautiful, albeit broken art.
And also the king of Cute Em Ups is Harmful Park (misleading name). It’s on the ps1 and very expensive but I’m sure you could borrow a backup file from a friend if you reached out.
Harmful Park comes highly recommended! Pretty easy 1cc too.
I remember buying Superman 64--literally saying, "it can't be that bad..."
Wait till you get to Premier Manager 64 hahahaha Hahahahah
Check out the game Star Parodier. Its a fantatic Cute-em-up parody of Star Soldier from the same developers.
I'd love to see Thab try a bullet hell shooter like Ikaruga or Mars Matrix.
I love Ikaruga! It’s really really hard though
Madden!!!! Yesssss!
These videos are like crack to me.
Happy Friday my dudes!!
I have a proposal for you also, and that is proposing to you and everyone reading this to have happy holidays, merry Christmas, or whatever else you celebrate, and a good 2024.
this sounds like something @metalJesusRocks or @Hard4Games would be into from the Preservation side.
Happy Holdays! I hope everyone is having a good Friday!
What a shame this wasnt released in the states, i woulda love have played it back in the day
Try playing parodious if you want cute ups.
Make a follow up video of what you find
Anyone else gonna grab this one just for the music editor? Was there ever a sequencer game simlar to Music for the playstation on N64?
Music 2000 for PlayStation. But that's just music maker, no game.
I was gonna say Mario Paint, but that's SNES isn't it?
@@randomwowjunkie N64 has Mario Paint 64 also, but it uses rarely available medium on slot into the cartridge and it's JAP-only.
Commenting so that the series continues.
LFG! 2 a week in 2024?? please??!
is it just me or is 0:14 suspicious 🤣🤣🤣
Actually, there is a 64DD version of this game, while not offically released, it has been dumped. You might need 64Drive if you don't have 64DD to play it.
love
I love cute ‘em ups
It kind of reminds me of Raystorm.
This reminds me of Panzer Dragoon.
Cute'm Ups? WHAT THE HECK, JAPAN. HAHA.
I wonder if you could port Einhänder onto the N64 with this engine
My thoughts exactly!
Schumps are so much fun but they have such a huge difficulty spike. Unless you are committed to getting really good you'll probably give up before making it past the 3rd or 4th stage.
