best tutorial videos on youtube. it's blowing my mind that JB can break it down so well that even I can emidiately figure out what I have to do.
A good way to think about the "straight up": your forward momentum is trying to go through the ramp and your legs are trying to throw you away from the wall (because that's what you push off). Do it at the right time and the two cancel out, you essentially come to a dead stop: not going forward or backward. What's left is the upward part of your jump and the upward thrust of the ramp.
You're never *above* the coping, you're *higher* than the coping and above the transition, at the point you left the ground.
JB, you're a great teacher, and Layton (I think I heard his name right) is an excellent student. I've tried these ollies to fakie on a miniramp, but couldn't figure out the timing. I did a lot of those manuals-at-the-coping when learning rock to fakie, so hopefully I can transfer that feel right into these ollies. I also appreciated Layton's insight about the difference in knee movement's from a flatground ollie.

I am at the stage where I try to get over the coping but this is still something hard to feel and imagine even if my Ollies below are perfect. what about how to fix a kickflip where it flies away from you because ur back foot goes onto the ground as soon as you pop/slide
Watch Luan Oliveira kickflips in slow motion and then focus on how he jumps up and how he pulls up his front foot heel towards his crotch, rolls the foot so the top of the shoe is pointing into the nose of the board and then powers out his flick while sucking up his back leg. Helped me a lot
