    I enjoyed watching your video! We used to have dairy but are now solely crop farmers in Minnesota, U.S.A. What crops do you have in Ireland?! I enjoy learning about farmers across the globe!

      Generally speaking irish dairy farms don't grow crops,except maybe maize or barley some crop farmers grow maize,beets,barley and wheat on contract for dairy farms

    Great channel. Could ya do a video on the whole process of when cow has her calf to when her milk is ok to go to tank. Eg how long ya leave calf with cow and how many milking before her milk is ok for going to tank. Also how many feeds of colostrum to ya give the calves. Thanks.

    • @theirishfarmer
      @theirishfarmer  Před 2 lety

    That new shed is some job mate. Random question - why didn’t you put the cattle part of the new build over beside the old cattle shed to keep the cows together? eg why did you leave the machinery part in the middle. Cheers 🙏🏻

    • @theirishfarmer
      @theirishfarmer  Před 2 lety +2

      There was an old silage pit there and there was a tank above it for years where the cows are. Wasn’t meant to be a shed like that just turned out that way

      fleckvieh are the breed in fashion at the moment, similar to a dairy simmental, good calf and solids with flat lactation curve my concern would be the udder ligament is weak as lactations go on and the mature cow is a heavy animal to carry, i seen a herd of them in cork last year, fierce quiet cows
