- Can Zuma Dent Ramaphosa's Vote Share? All About South Africa Election | Firstpost Africa
The final countdown to a historic general election in South Africa is on. The May 29 poll is set to be the most tightly contested one since the end of apartheid in the country. Nearly 28 million South Africans will vote in the upcoming provincial and national elections. Opinion polls say the African National Congress (ANC) is still expected to win the largest share of the vote but could see a drop below 50%. So President Cyril Ramaphosa is likely to remain in office unless he faces an internal challenge within the party. If the ANC falls short of a majority as the polls suggest, it will have to negotiate a coalition. It could even form a deal with other smaller parties depending on the share of votes it gets. Who are the key players in South Africa's election? What are the key issues? Find out all about South Africa's election in this video.
