      @@artix003 yeah you're right, but I'd say he's more of a SF body wise but because he can't shoot he's often playing PF and in small-ball/run and gun lineups.
      The game changed alot from when he was drafted in 2015 till now. Even from when he averaged a career high 13 points. Nowadays if you don't bring a lot of value elsewhere, you're just a liability if you can't shoot. You better be a guy that brings elite rim-protection, or elite playmaking, can guard 1-5 at an extremely high level, great paint scorer, etc. Unfortunately RHJ is none of these but I think he can get minutes if he works on his jumpshot while bringing energy and hustle plays off the bench.

    I remember Ryan Anderson having a serious injury while playing for the Pelicans and was somewhat injury prone in general. Also, I don't think he is an ideal stretch 4. He was that in the early 2010s, but since then stretch 4s have become smaller, faster and more athletic. Also Anderson wasn't a great defender.

      @undergrounddojokeyboardcag701 Před 2 lety +12

      If they would have had a better big man coach, that 4/5 rotation the Magic had for a couple years would have been devastating to the NBA.
      When they had DHoward, Gortat, Anderson, Shard and Brandon Bass, if that rotation was managed better, no one could have handled those teams. As the opposing team, it would be super difficult to go from figuring out how to defend lets say, Anderson/Howard, to then Shard/Howard or Gortat/Howard, or Bass/Gortat.... these duo's all function very differently and would require different types of defenders and sets to deal with them.
      A better big man coach would have created a situation like.... well, like what we saw with OKC and the Spurs in 2015, where Donovan simply outcoached Pop, with his big man rotations. The forward-center mixes he was throwing out there, where so versatile that by the time the Spurs adjusted to what they were doing, he would switch it up again.
      The Magic, could have done the same thing but while SVG is a good coach and not bad with big men, he is not a big man specialist nor did he have a unique view of how to run bigs, Donovan did and that's what they needed.

    • @iron3491
      @iron3491 Před 2 lety +5

      @@undergrounddojokeyboardcag701 You could also make a case that it was too much talent for only two positions and that all those players flourished later because they were given bigger roles, i.e. Gortat in Phoenix/Washington, Anderson in NOLA, and Bass in Boston. But to be fair, that Orlando team did not use all of their players to their full potential. J.J. Redick always comes to mind as someone who became a really good player after he left Orlando in 2012 or 2013.

    • @undergrounddojokeyboardcag701

      @@iron3491 Well, that would simply be the argument that they'd never reach their statistical peaks.
      I think we see the same thing with JJ and JJ actually had a lot of developing to do when he entered the NBA. He really had to adjust his game to function in the NBA, because what he was doing coming out of college did not translate to the NBA. He definitely developed into that player with Orlando, the only real difference being (after moving on to the Clippers) he was given more of an offensive focus with the Clippers who also had less guard depth.

      Well if all the superstars are gonna team up on a handful of teams....why is expansion a good thing? That's why marginally talented young players are getting max contracts and are subsequently traded around shortly after signing. These players become handicaps for GMs who then have to trade them and a draft pick to tanking team to get them off the books.
