Cyber security is actually a MASSIVE threat globally. It is projected to eat up 20 trillion dollars by 2026 globally. That's an entire USA. Its about 8.5% of the world economy was stolen by cyber criminals for 2022. Its a HUGE issue for all companies.
I used to work for a branch of Nintendo and for a time they had an 'air gap' between the computers that could work on the software and art they were making for games and the ones that connected to the Internet. Which is to say that they were completely different systems so it wasn't even POSSIBLE to hack through one to the other. But over time the president decided to completely eliminate that gap because he wanted people to work from home. I kept trying to tell him how this completely exposed him to all manner of problems... not only from hackers into the company system but anyone who hacked any other computer that now could connect to the company system, but he quite simply didn't care. "Who would hack us?" he kept saying. What a fool. So basically that's your answer: lazy people who are willing to compromise and completely ignore risks and disregard advice.
That's what I'm saying. If experian,one of the three MAJOR credit bureau, got into hack multiple times. One way was by going to their website in another language and basically clicking in the corner of the screen thst would pull up a back door with a ton of peoples personal info. No fire wall, no security code. They don't care. If they did they would actually care about there employees they would have payed the ransom and protected there info, or I dunno, maybe use the money they made from all these successful games and up there sercuirty....there a major 3rd party now and should secure themselves like one.
I used to get my game news from game journalism before I discovered youtube. You can get so much more from just watching stuff for yourself on CZcams than listening to someone's biased opinion in their article

Honestly I play Spider-Man games for SPIDERMAN. Not the side character fucking it all up. I played the first Spider-Man game on PS4. Loved it until it said "Oh you're playing as MJ now, you gotta be stealthfy." I dropped it. I beat it, but I won't be dropping anymore money on the franchise. Keep side characters as side characters. They're there to make the main character look good, to keep them grounded & relatable. The legendary side characters are the ones who snap a damn idiot back to reality.
Unrelated note: was anyone else annoyed at the first Horizon Zero Dawn or is it just me? Like I spent the entire game just mildly irratated. Something was wrong. Maybe it just felt hollow to me.

During my university times between 2005 and 10 my dream was to become a gaming journalist. Then life happened to me, priorities shifted, and by the time I got back in the loop, around 2014-15, I was disgusted with what "gaming journalism" had become. It's a bunch of shills, cretins, literal mouthbreathers, and plain scumbags. In the immortal words of the internet: lmaoing hard @ game urinalism.

You sit around getting lost in imaginary worlds, then you get online and talk in communities about it.. happily typing up small books worth of opinions about your favorite games. So many gamers already do the exact same thing journos do but they do it for free and with no audience. Gaming journalism offers a way to solve the adult problems facing you without changing priorities at all. There's a reason most ppl who do it are overgrown kids with no life experience.

It’s funny we’re approaching the 10 year anniversary of gamergate. The original issue was that a developer was sleeping around to get favorable scores on her shitty Web app game. These journalists might not be as brazen with fucking, but they’re doing the same exact thing with these larger studios. They’re essentially just pay whores. I rarely trust anything they say when they review something I always go to CZcams for reviews. Also, I find it funny that Microsoft leaks were widely reported upon earlier this year but now there’s some type of ethical issue with this. I have been trying to avoid spoilers about the Wolverine game.
I understand that these companies need to profit but maybe they should cut down development costs there’s no reason why any game should cost $400 million. Maybe grand theft auto would be the exception, considering that’s a game of 5 to 7 years of development time. AAStudios are able to make games that are better on a shoestring budget. Maybe they should pair down the team sizes so then they could make more games and make them on a smaller budget. The original halo was made on a 40 person development team. I’m going to bet 343 has over 200 people working on halo now. I’m not saying to fire devs, but the AAA developers need to re-organize and rethink how they’re going to do things.

I wish someone would point it out to me. I finished the game once, by accident. It gave me no indication or feeling that I was anywhere near the end. The game just kind of stops.
@@nicksrandomreviews I had a similar experience. Night City just doesn't feel all that....futuristic to me. It basically looks like Shanghai in 2023. Compare that to like....Deus Ex 1 or Human Revolution, Megacity 1 from Dredd, or the aesthetics from either Blade Runner movie. In a scifi cyberpunk setting I want city sized buildings, or like in Deus Ex:HR, Hengsha city has a giant elevated platform 500 feet above it where ANOTHER city is, complete with "inverted" buildings hanging from the top platform, kind of like the underground cities in Evangelion. Worth a google just to see the concept art if you don't know what I'm talking about.

I'm more surprised by the revenue split than anything. Insomniac took an awful deal and explains why a game like Guardians of the Galaxy could never make money if Eidos took a similar deal.

the biggest problem with insomniac isnt their gameplay or technical wizardry. its their tendency to write woke garbage, change characterizations, update stories for modern audiences, inject intersectional identity bs, and bow to activists with brainrot. the games are polished and fun, but their storytelling is dogwater, guided by victim grifters who wont buy this sht either way. insomniac is yet another company infected by degenerate woke parasites.

Plus the entire setting was completely fucked and our goal is to fuck it up even more in order to establish everlasting peace a la classic Dark Souls 3. The GRR Martin writing was a bonus.
For FF16, that’s debatable on many angles. The main problem was that it’s a Sony exclusive and thankfully we’ll get a PC version sometime in the future.

How in the actual f-ck do you not realize that the Wolverine's healing factor can allow him to simply regenerate his health over time? That's all the people behind the game would have to implement, and it'd save them a bit of work because then he wouldn't need the animations to do so!

the biggest problem with insomniac isnt their gameplay or technical wizardry. its their tendency to write woke garbage, change characterizations, update stories for modern audiences, inject intersectional identity bs, and bow to activists with brainrot. the games are polished and fun, but their storytelling is dogwater, guided by victim grifters who wont buy this sht either way. insomniac is yet another company infected by degenerate woke parasites.
The more they try to say "bad people are people who dont agree with me" the easier it is to ignore them.

I like how you mentioned the God of War creator not liking the new titles incident. Even taking story and character personality aside, the fact that this new GoW plays and feels more "standardized" with the over the shoulder camera kinda shows how homogenized the AAA gaming industry has become and how annoying the push for this style of gaming currently is.
It still deals with fatherhood, a topic that is in short supply in media. You can’t just take the “story and character personality” out of the equation. It’s a holistic experience.
And even if the camera is ‘standardized’ the gameplay itself is quite deep. You have to put actual thought into a build especially on the harder difficulties
Just about all of Soyny's exclusive titles have become much more generic and boring than ever. I get that the format of the older God of War games before God of War 4(2018) have started to grow a bit stale but this new and current format of the latest God of War games are just flat out too slow-paced and boring and not an improvement over the old format.
I like the Norse setting, but would of been better if it was a trilogy and Ragnorok should of been the third game tbh, and Kratos should of been a bad ass while being a dad at the same time tbh, but I see how the direction changed between the two, I want to see Kratos take on the Norse mythology and God's, but we've got Mr Kratos the God of Peace instead tbh, not really a good God of War story tbh, game play looks cool, but should be like the original trilogy tbh, and the next trilogy should be him taking on all the God's in the the world like a battle royale kinda trilogy tbh, and end with him living in peace as he witness the dawn of a new era of God's and belief tbh, set up the creation of Christianity where The one and only God give him what he truly want, happiness and peace, reunite his family as the story leads into the Arthurian era or when he makes sure a certain couple make it to Bethlahem for a birth of a new era, so yeah
I have to agree with that, they could have introduce so many diffrent cool perspective shot or many others things to make it a cool story base game.
Basically if they were gonna go with this knew route they should have improve the cinematic gameplay experience and include that sometimes with gameplay.
But they kind of just did 3d person stuck camera, shit when so many parts they could have improve or innovated on to with there new wants, the style of game they wanted to take this series.
I love the force camera angles they add to the buety of the game they create personality into the scene. They could have invoated a lot but they didn't.

@@trenchmouse2438 Well, my main focus here is on gameplay, not story. David Jeff is the one who is bothered the most by it. But regardless of how good or non-generic you think the story and tone of the new GOW games is, it is still of my opinion that the modern story heavy focus of videogames nowadays has become more detrimental to the industry than helpful. Because now instead of focusing on actual innovative gameplay or great improvements to already established formulas, we now have these "playable movies" that pour most of their budgets into being Oscar Baits than actually providing us with technical improvements on how the games play. And while I think the new God of Wars have good gameplay, it's nothing really mindblowing like other games and series of previous decades used to be back in the day.
Also, I'm not a particular fan of new GOW's slow-paced combat. I know it is not some shallow button masher, but if I wanted to engage into extensive amounts of planning and preparation for builds within a deeply strategic and slow intricate system that requires more mathematical skills from the player than actual reflexes, then I'd go for the several strategy videogames plus the occasional CRPG that I already do play routinely as opposed to an *action* or fighting videogame. This kind of gameplay is just not the place for an *action* title that came directly from a Hack'n'Slash series. Hell, can you imagine if DOOM had come back as one of those comparatively "tactical" shooters like Half-Life and Halo? Because that's the feeling I have with God of War. Ffs, not everything needs to be a "soulslike" and even within this category of games by FromSoftware their most popular ones are the ones that are faster paced.

I think it's fine that the creator of God of War doesn't like the new games, but I will say that the new games do what most media won't do, show masculinity and fatherhood in a positive light.
I do hate that the creator doesn’t like it because I never once thought while playing that Kratos was “soft” though I respect their vision. Physically, he seems as strong as ever and it makes a lot of sense for his character that the one thing to crack his mental armor is his family.

As for Kratos being soft, I think 2018 and Ragnarok make it very clear he's holding back a lot to not become a monster again. Guy has serious PTSD and if anyone threatens his son he could slip back into that monster.

2 million dollars is literally pennies to a company that big. They kinda deserve this.
Companies everywhere are really doubling down on the raise prices model to try to make up for short comings from sales increase during the pandemic. When the volume declines they decide they have to raise prices more which causes a terrible spiral. Margin goes up, but profits go down. This isn’t just video games but a lot of industries right now. Idk what they’re teaching in business college but it’s pretty bad.
everything has to be bigger than the last. a good release isn’t good enough, it has to be the next top selling game. if they’re not making more money than last quarter they’re failing. so they choose short term gains to make reports look good. introduction of quarterly battle passes is the most egregious example
