    Oh I understand now...I use rubber washers, they can flex and move with your axle and at the same time, they seal the diff that little bit more. Its because my kit doesn't come stock with them C clips.

  • @antrc
    @antrc Před 5 lety +1

    Johnny, you font of all knowledge you, after installing a boomracing overdrive kit into my boomracing ar44 (front) axle on my 10.2, the diff snags and catches when going forwards downhill. Smooth as silk uphill and on the level. A shimming issue do you think? There is a little play on the shaft but there was before the overdrive went in, so I left it be.

    • @burdon84
      @burdon84  Před 5 lety +1

      Sounds like it to me mate, when the pressure shifts forward on the truck, the whole drive line shifts a little, she may just want either one little shim added or removed depending on what's already in it

      @burdon84  Před 3 lety

      On what truck? Depending on the truck, sometimes your better off changing the motor to either a higher or lower turn to get the effect your after. Lower turn given you more wheel speed and less torque, higher being lower wheel speed and higher torque

    This is not what shimming a diff refers to. Firstly, you don’t have a diff. You have a solid axle which is great for crawling. I would refer to your video as shimming your pinion. The shim determines the play between,.... you know the rest. Nice video. Just needs a better title

    • @burdon84
      @burdon84  Před 3 lety +4

      I bet your fun at parties... in the rc crawler world, this is how you shim your diffs.. as it's all a part of the diff setup itself and is what helps it all run as it should. I'm an Aussie, we use our terminology..

    • @jmills4313
      @jmills4313 Před rokem +1

      Fair enough...what's typically though of as diff shimming isn't in fact diff shimming either then. It's ring & pinion shimming. Technically diff shimming takes place INSIDE the diff.

    • @michaelinzitari
      @michaelinzitari Před rokem

      @@jmills4313 yes another great point!! Everyone in the world makes the same mistake over and over again and nobody ever questions the terms and the bad habits get passed on forever
