  • I wanted to love this switch $13 shipped and in a case. But, it shorts out momentarily when switched. Think of that on 240V three phase.

It would appear the issue has been fixed or QC is letting bad switches through because the switch I just bought doesn't have the issue you demonstrate. All I know is mine is good but I thank you for sharing this with us so that we can test it ourselves and be safe. All the best.

The thing might GERARD at 360V ... LOL

So if you are doing a video about a switch arcing, show it happening. Show the voltage that the switch fails at. What voltage and amperage is it ok at? Duh!

Why? For the same reason you don't buy a switch just to destroy it.
      Because I'm not monetized.
      Because I'm not an idiot.
The video was about a switch shorting and I demonstrated that. There is a video that shows what happens to relay contacts switching 60V DC under load. All that got me was two less relays!

Solexx where does is say "arcing" in the header?
Opera was demonstrating a shorting switch.
Insecurities can make people behave like dicks, from experience I'd suggest looking for arcing in that area first.

I think you are being both rude and asking for irreverent information. He demonstrated the shorting as the switch was being operated with his meter. Voltage and amperage is irrelevant to this measurement, it will short at any voltage! The design case with the switching of the PV wiring (shown on the drawings) makes it obvious that the switch would arc badly with DC voltage during the switching process in this application - no demonstration of this is required.

I understand people want entertainment. A manager once told me "the optics of a project are everything". Certainly many youtube channels pander to that sort of thing along with technical projects that should just never be built. In some ways this video is about making design assumptions and being blindsided by something you could never imagine. All these little demonstrations cost me money, often in ways never seen. No need to destroy a switch that could be used later. czcams.com/video/vNL-G6QbgHI/video.html This video demonstrates contacts arcing at less than 60V. Skip to 2 minutes 23 sec. It only takes a few seconds. Totally missed it in my first take and had to get a second relay.
