I think people completely confuse "supercar" with "exotic car".
The C8 Z06 is definitely not an exotic car, but anyone that argues it isn't a supercar is in severe denial or confusing the terms.
It's a Sportscar
Anything beyond the term supercar is no different from a hotel categorizing itself as a 6 or 7 star hotel, but I get it, hypercar is becoming more and more common in this day and age. Here is a criteria of a supercar:
1. Mid-engine or rear-engine only
2. 2 doors and 2-seater only
3. Front trunk or no front trunk
4. Performance figures and MSRP exceeding most sports car OF ITS TIME
5. Has the WOW factor; head turner.
Trims of it like Z06 or ZR1 could be considered a super car from the c7 or c8. Regular base c8 is not a super car.

There was a V16 Supercar built in the early/mid 1990's that looked like a stretched Countach, called the Cizeta Moroder.
I've also heard people refer to the Senna as a hypercar, I don't agree with that opinion

Corvette c8 is not a supercar
Supercar to me is an exotic that turns heads. If the car is rarely seen and can turn heads anywhere, it is a supercar
My old Boxster is a supercar by your definition then. It is a very rare exotic in the village here in England. 🤣🤣

I was literally having this convo recently. I agree with the assessment! I came up with something similar. I also battled between Porsche and Corvette because of the cheaper options that are available. For that, I was easier to push the Z06 and ZR1 and Super cars! C8 is a sports car!

Ok by his metric, the current entry level Ferrari is the 296 GTB… that z06 isn’t even CLOSE to that…
I currently only knew 5 hyper cars, P1, 918, Bugatti and Mercedes, Ferrari SF90 and Mercedes-AMG ONE. There are some other fast cars, but they are only fast and crap on the race track, this 5 can also deliver realy fast track rounds.

The "super" in supercar refuses to its performance, they usually look fast, seems exotic. Less obtainable. That's why u have so many models, supercars and hypercars don't have underperforming models, performance on goes up

What do you think about the Zenvo TSRS over 1000bhp is that a hyper car 5 cars ever made so far
I think anything over 900hp can be classed a hyper car. Zenvo is a hyper car company. Ford GT and Senna fall in a werid place bcuz they are incredible track machines.
It's basically a kit car without mass production. Company barely exist. 1000 hp means nothing, active spoiler( not a new concept) nothing special.
That car is crazy when it comes to the design of it .most of it is hand made carbon fiber
@kingjamesiii3762 it may not seem special with active aero but Zenvo TSR-S is definitely not a "kit car".....where did you get that? Zenvo took many years, investors and alot of money for the research & development of the TSR, TSR-S, TSR GT & the new Aurora.

Lumping sports cars in to supercars category is often done. Just got to look at the resale used market for R8, any 911 there are so many and so cheap. The production numbers are too high for supercar, and how easy they are get an allocation from factory.
McLaren Senna also is not a hypercar, the Senna is exactly like the Ford GT not a hypercar
The category should be identified better:
HYPERCAR Plus: Jesko, Chiron, Rimac
HYPERCAR: Veyron, F1
SUPERCAR Plus: 918, P1, Lafarrari, CGT
SUPERCAR: 720S,Enzo, SLR, Huyara
SPORTCAR Plus: GT2/3, Pista, Aventador
SPORTCAR: 458, Murci
GT Plus: GT-R, 911 Turbo, Corvette
Grand Tourer: F12, 812

Agreed with them 💯 and I’m a Porsche guy. Comes to down to exclusivity, price, rarity. 911, gt3 corvette, gtr = highend sports car. Gt3RS, ford GT, base ferrari, base lambo = Super car. Pagani, Koenigsegg, carrera gt, Bugatti, la Ferrari, crazy lambo = hyper cars.
3RS is still a sports car. The base of the car needs to fit the definition, but damn a 3RS is one expensive sports car. The 911 platform is no different than the vette platform except where they originate.

Unpopular opinion.. I don’t agree a veneno and centenario are hyper cars. People say they are but they are literally aventadors with body kits. Not saying they don’t look good or anything I would love to own one.
The McLaren f1 wasnt the 1st hypercar, in fact it was the 1st race car to produce a street version. In order for McLaren to race in le mans, they needed to produce at least 500 street versions to complete in the manufacturer championship. Facts nothing fancy about a street legal race car (think porsche gt1, Amg gtr..)

To me a hypercar is a very powerful but rare car (limited production) thats why to me an sf90 is not a hypercar, its not limited and anyone can buy it
Gtr was a supercar 4yrs ago but now it's competing with bmw m4s for quarter mile times( nismo is still a supercar)
GTR, R8, C8 are super cars for normal people then exotic super cars for the rich people. Hyper cars are cars that outperform the fastest exotic super cars.

SF-90 should have been mentioned it’s not a hyper car but people confuse it with a hyper car.

The megacar, hypercar, super car, is all addons to sports car. To understand all those labels you need first need to boil down the defining elements of what makes a car a sports car.
For me a supercar needs to be -
1)2 door & 2 seater
2)aerodynamically sleek & futuristic looking
3)exotic, high quality & cost over US$300k
4)have a min of 8 cylinders
5)hit 320-380 kph
6)does 1/4 mile in 10.5 secs or less
7)makes 640-840 hp
8)does 0-60 mph in 2.9 secs or less
9)inspire others & trigger all idiotic karens..
I think of a super car as any car that has 200mph or close to it top speed… if it has launch control, brembo brakes, sport suspension and makes compromises so it can go fast then it’s a SUPER CAR… if it’s made outside North America and is also a Supercar then it’s an Extoic Car No?

I think you guys could succeed at this if you're willing to separate tiers from the notion of how expensive/powerful they are. During this conversation I feel like they're being forced to make a distinction between a Super Car and a Sports Car with the implication being that a Sports Car needs to be a tier below a Super Car. Definitionally, I don't see why that has to be the case. Here's the definition I'll offer:
The TLDR; Super Car is philosophy. Sports car is performance as it relates to the sport of driving.
Ex: A Super Car is a vehicle that is made with seemingly no attention paid to how expensive it will be. They're expensive because of the materials and design choices used; the philosophy and/or emotion behind it. Powerful, still, but far more of a work of art than a time-attack machine. Ex: Lamborghini Aventador, Pagani Huayra.
A Sports Car: a vehicle with which the design and budget is majority focused on the performance and chasing numbers. They figure out ways to lose weight, gain power, or both. Their aerodynamics are as such not so much to make the car beautiful, but because it is necessary. An engineering feat more than it is a work of art. Ex's: Porsche 911 GT3RS, Honda Civic Type R (remember, not about the total cost of the vehicle).
A Hyper Car: a combination of both of these missions. Requiring the utmost money and exclusivity due to how laborious and extravagant the car must be to fulfill it.
Ex's: McLaren Senna, Koenigsegg Regera R
Sportscar, Supercar, Hypercar, Megacar💁♂

The GTR is a GT car like a Mustang. If modded to Stage 1, it can beat supercars.
First off stage 1 is a dumb way of saying what’s done to the car. That wasn’t a great comparison. It handles like a supercar, far better than a mustang. Around a track it was faster than a gallardo and 458, and most notably a 997 911 turbo. It makes supercar power, it handles like a supercar, it runs a give or take 11 second quarter mile time, and it’s got road presence since it’s wide

Probably a lot of comments but the first comment I agree with you if you were out with a girl and she sees a Lambo or a Ferrari or a Porsche everybody knows their supercars growing up in the 70s and 80s and early 90s they were the three supercars. Now you have all these other companies you have Toyota you have Nissan you have BMW you have Audi to come out with cars 0 is 60 or 1/4 me that can compete with them cars in the speed that doesn't mean that they're supercars we know you know you two guys know or people that have Lambos are Ferraris are Audi R8 or Porsches know if you raise them in the canyons are you raced in constantly or you do a a big run them cars cannot handle the power and the torque for the speed for a long period of Time same thing with the Corvette the Corvette I don't care what anybody says or any of them cars they cannot handle the heat with the power of the stopping of them cars constantly that's the difference between a Supercar the Supercar could be doing 40 or 50 miles an hour and how it's accelerates up to 100 the gearboxes the way it shifts the way it handles the way it turns to wait looks that's what makes it separate from them other cars and the price too now you can make any car go fast but I have to say the GTR for the money that car is pretty quick I mean the car does what low 9 low 10s and a quarter and it's almost a 200 Mi an hour car you do a tuned exhaust and bigger turbos it can compete with them cars in the speed but after a while it can't keep up something's going to break that's the difference between a Lambo and a Ferrari and a Porsche and all them other cars now when you're talking agira in a Bugatti and a a Pagani are McLaren that's different leaving them the cars are not practical Lamborghini in the Ferrari and a Porsche you could drive them every day in a reliable and if I pull up with a with a Lambo you pull up with a Bugatti if you're not a car person or a woman she's going to take the lambo over that car any day Rambo is still the best car in the Ferrari to this day for the buck it's more reliable
Gordon literally called the F1 car in period a sports car. Ferrari, McLaren and Lambo make super cars. Bugatti make hyper cars. Pagani and Konigseeg are hand built super cars. There’s no such thing as a mega car. Porsche make sports and track cars, not super cars. Ford GT is a supercar. Corvette isn’t.

A true car enthusiast would have done their research, know the history, with that have an open mind before expressing their limited knowledge in the definition of sports car,supercar and hypercar.
You can't be a supercar if you're based on a sub 100000 dollar sports car. No 911 is a supercar. No Corvette is a supecar. The Viper isn't a supercar. Thr GTR isnt a supercar. The AMG GT is questionable.
Performance defines cars. Period. Tesla is a wolf in sheep's clothing. There is no slow good looking desirable hypercar. These two buttons.
The corvette and the viper are the only ones that cost under $100k base. Yes the others have costed under $100k for base, but currently you need at least $100k to buy most all the cars you listed so that’s kind of a dumb criteria since inflation is a real thing.
@AlwaysL8FK8 Well then we just need to adjust for inflation and call it 125 base. The fact is no car that offers a base model in that price range is special enough to be considered a supercar. I dont even consider a car like the Aston Martin Vantage or Ferrari Roma to be a supercar. Exotic sports car? Sure. But what's 'super' about it? The Z06 and GT3 are performers but still either employe Chevrolet build quality and materials or in the case of the 911, simply don't have the jaw dropping appearance a supercar should have.
The Turbo S is 100% a supercar. The AMG GT is not even close to being a supercar. It’s a luxury sports car.
@@timgermanyjr it’s used to be a supercar implied racing pedigree and tech that a typical road going car would not have. Also exotic looks like you said. Porsche has the racing pedigree and technology. The gt1 is certainly a supercar. The 918 which is a hypercar has the current gt3rs stepping on its toes in terms of performance and technology. The numbers don’t lie. I don’t need a more beautiful design than the current gt3rs with its performance to convince me it’s a supercar. It is. The amount of downforce, carbon fiber, and exotic materials like magnesium wheels is enough supercar for me.
