  • Tutorial How-to Fit 2.2 Tires & Extend Wheelbase on TRX-6 Traxxas Crawler
This video provides comprehensive tutorial on the steps required to create additional space between two rear axles of Traxxas TRX6 for the purpose of fitting 2.2 size tires and/or extending the wheelbase of the TRX6 #crawler
There are a few ways of achieving the same outcome, this video covers some of the approaches. We will move the middle axles 10mm forward as well as move rear axle 20mm towards the rear.
The video will also provide brief coverage of pros and cons of axle relocation as well as some ways to fix cons associated with extending the wheelbase.
    Parts Required:
    TRA 8245 x 2 short wheelbase links
    TRA 8145 new rear lowers
    TRA 8250 shaft kit
    TRA 8295 shaft joint

I bought the 8245 (121mm) suspension links and they were 1mm shorter then the middle links which are 122mm. The 8245 link kit will not move the middle axle forward 10mm because this kit is only 1mm shorter. I spent the money because of this video and now I bought parts that were basically the same as what’s already installed.

The part you want is 8248 (109mm). I’m sorry about that. There was an error on traxxas site when I made this showing incorrect part number.

@@rcdad416Well I hope whoever watches this video reads this comment, it’s pretty important so that people aren’t wasting around $20 buying the wrong part? I also hope the other parts you listed work because I can’t try them until I get the new set of links here. This turned into a bad situation.

@@rcdad416hi, the hauler has different parts to the Merc!!!! argh, couldn't move the middle axle forward, but I have moved the rear axle back 20mm. Now running 135mm tyres - you can see the results on my channel if you have a moment. I adjusted the suspension to the max, so it has more travel than standard! thanks for the inspiration 👍🍺🇬🇧

Great video. I am often thinking about getting a TRX6, and fit 2.2 wheels, too. I’d definitely use a steering axle in the rear, that only steers a bit to compensate. One could even think about going 8x8 with this setup, with two steering axles in the back.
Are your shock mounts and the bed self made?

Towers are from Amazon. The bed I made from a piece of carbon Fiber.
