I got the same machine and problem. I was going to do what you did but decided to take the starter off and took solenoid apart. I cleaned the contacts. It was caked with dry dirty grease. Cleaned grease out and it works like it should now
I did the same thing with my dad's 1845c, after I first installed it about 4-5 years later the solenoid spring broke and went into self start mode. My dad was nearby but by the time he got a wrench and unhook the battery it had already damaged the starter. I replaced the solenoid and added a disconnect switch on the battery to use when Case was not in use. A few years go by,.... this week I was using the Case, went to start it, not click or nothing, I tested the solenoid and it was stuck on so, ran a jumper wire to starter exciter terminal , nothing. I will be dropping off the starter for repairs. I think the solenoids short life is due to me mounting the starter solenoid to the motor via heavy metal bracket, the vibration of the motor destroying the solenoids.
Can you describe 'exactly' what the problem is with the solenoid? Are the contacts sticking? Is it the contacts? Is it the coil in the solenoid? What exactly is the problem and why hasn't Case come out with a fix for this headache? PS: I noticed after I bought the machine 'hammer marks' on the starter? I was curious as to why they where there. Now I believe they were 'jarring' lose something in the starter in order to start the machine?

B- Does yours have a small electrical cable that runs from under the seat down along the passenger side engine compartment. Mine has a fuse connected to it. It usually blows the fuse and when u replace it seems to work..its done that to me anyways.
My family has the exact same skid steer and I fixed the problem on it and you know what it is you have to replace the whole starter and put a new one in because the starter is getting too old it doesn’t wanna fire

Mine's been doing the same thing I brought all the hammer and gave it a few Taps on the starter appears to be working fine now😊

Is there a part number on the relay?
Mine was doing the same thing. Found the quick disconnect wiring under the cab loose. Then found a loose fuse.

That solenoid is a common one used on older Fords.
Need a before and after pic. Couldn't tell where some wires went.
Having same issues. Replaced battery, starter, ignition switch.. no help. same issues.

Does flipping the key forward do anything.. like would that be grid heater or glow plugs?
My understanding was glow plugs but not 100% sure
