    You guys have taught me a lot about resin casting and we’re actually the ones who got me interested in it. What’s funny though is my biggest resin pour was only 64oz, so a tad smaller than what you guys pour.😂

    Nice bench. I use a BBQ stainless steel brush head to do the brushing and find it does a great job and doesn't dig in to the wood. It's about 4" X 3"1/2, is flat and fits nicely in the hand.

      I've seen resin cast burnt wood and YEA it can if you do it right use a SUPER bright opaque color as a sort of base pour so it flows into all the grooves and defects then do a clear topcoat over it

    Windsor Plywood Penticton, big fan of you guys. I recommend you guys daily when it comes to how to properly use epoxy.
    Awesome job with this even though it didn’t have epoxy.

      @@BlackForestWoodCo Hi. Haven't tried it yet. Trying to figure out how to do it without compromising the burn finish ie epoxy overlap. Can't find any CZcams post of anyone who's tried it. Who better to try it than the creative masters at Black Forest Wood eh! Would look awesome and be a creative first.

    I tried this technique several years ago on a picture frame for my wife. It didn't come out as well as your bench but she did like the outcome. Too bad a moving company crushed it during one of our many moves. The bench is nice. Stay safe.

    I laughed out loud when Charlie chomped snorkie oinkie pig. I saw a show on different types of homes from bamboo tree houses to underground rift houses. One episode was a Swedish home built using sukiyaki burning technique on the exterior. Good to hear you hit 100k. It will grow for sure.

    Great looking bench. I have seen several timber framers using that curing technique on there timbers to protect the lumber from rot and decay.

    Shou Sugi Ban, another feather in your cap! This bench turned out really good. Did I hear you say that the timber used was Ash? How appropriate! As much as I like the technique and the end result, I was surprised to see you using a black wax finish. I was thinking there would be more of a contrast with a clear wax, this would show more of the subtle differences in the grain. If you were heading for an all black finish why not just use a black stain? But then Spencer would not have had as much fun, dont let him loose with that flame thrower..!! ** Congratulations to you all.
    I really missed not getting my BFWC fix last week but hey this sort of made up for it. Cheers, stay safe and I hope the hairdresser opens soon heh heh.

    The bench is beautiful. If it was mine I’d like a deeper burn til it looks like croc skin, and a green resin river! I think the Jesus fish math would really help that out!! 🤣🤣🤣 🐠 Love your channel!

    as long as pie is involved then it has to divide by the amount of people present so everyone gets a slice hopefully its apple with ice cream mmmm ok what the hell are we talking about now you want to burn the customers furniture WHAT!!!!???? lol nice piece guys PS well the burnt stuff will keep the bugs out that's an old Korean trick I think I read somewhere they burn the house boards to charcoal to keep the termites out. PSS for old woodworkers who don't go to the shop everyday and cant get out to the garage {reason freezing} its great to see some quality craftsmen put together some really cool stuff so as always awesome content

    Ive done this burning look on live edge tables before sealing them in epoxy. Especially if im going to be using a staining epoxy like charcoal black or whatever, that way the black epoxy doesnt seep deep into the wood, it stays sort of surface level.

    That turned out awesome. Is the entire bench made of ash? Just getting into woodworking and had read where hardwoods don't do as well as softwoods. Maybe that guy didn't know what he was talking about! I got my torch in yesterday and had fun torching a bunch of pine!

      It depends on what you're making! Hardwoods are better for tables, floors and benches, etc soft woods are better for carving and wood structures for buildings!
      And yes the entire bench is made of ash!

    That finished bench looks great. What do you think about potentially using Rubio Monocoat Charcoal (or Black) instead of the General Finishes Black + Osmo 3043 combo? That would still give you the rich black color, but with the hardwax and oil from the Rubio, and still retain some of the nice feel and characteristics of the wood burn. Can you please share a link to the torch you used for this? Would like to check it out, thanks!
