When America’s sprint sensation, Gabby Thomas set the 200-meter world-leading time of 22.08 seconds at the Texas Relays 2024 in Austin, Texas, we were all excited and hoped to see this time lowered soon. But we didn’t stop for a minute to think of the possibility of a collegiate athlete shattering that time to set a new world lead. Of course, rarely do we equate rising athletes to experienced and elite sprint stars. But one collegiate athlete has just given us a reason to believe in the potential of these upcoming athletes. They are capable of doing great just like elite athletes.
And the athlete in question here guys is none other than Ole Miss Track and Field All-American senior McKenzie Long.

An improvement of 0.05 seconds cannot be said to ‘destroy’ Gabby Thomas’s previous world leading time so far this season, but I’m wishing McKenzie Long all the best and I hope she qualifies for the Olympics in Paris this year.
I hate videos like this ...the word "destroys"... Because someone runs a pr or has a great race Doesn't mean it's going to win championships....The horses show up and show out when it's time to... Why compare slow times at the beginning of the season.?
Yes, I also hate 'destroys'. It swapped form yours to my language where it sounds even worse: 'zerstört' (german). One has a good point? His counterpart is zerstört. That literally means done for ever.

Championships #Olympics is a different ball game, the atmosphere, the crowd and the pressure will test these upcoming athletes with no experience of what Championships are really about. The experience athletes with Championship calibre always find a way to win.
The season has just concluded pt1 of a 3 part match up, i know Mckenzie was runner up to Alfred at last seasons finale and probably has more faster times to deliver but at the end of the day it how she'll acquit herself against the big girls at the trials.
