Perrin, I just came across your video, watched it and went onto your FB page. You are clearly a kind, gentle and beautiful soul. I'm sure your story has helped others and that's the point of these coming out videos. Hopefully you've also found someone to share your life..

thanks for this beautiful testimony, as you said sharing this is helping a lot of people, me included
I wouldn't qualify myself as a standard christian but I definitely believe in God and had a traditional upbringing. At 1st I was just pretending to be straight but being untrue to myself was quite depressing. Since "praying the gay away" never ended up working and that I was taught that gay and religion didn't mix I slowly lost my relationship with God knowing that I will never be living a life worthy of His standards (according to the idea of religion and God that were given to me through my life).
I recently started to realize that I was allowed to enjoy life and that I deserved to be happy just just like everyone else. After so many years of "self-issues" I'm just starting to love myself an be happy (I'm 24). For now I'm single, and I'm loving it (I'm kind of a loner...). I know that eventually I'd love to have someone by my side and with whom I'll be able to build a life with.
Who knows if/when I'll meet him? I don't but at least I'm slowly building up my relationship with God after having let him completely out because I was taught that people like me "broke his heart".
Anyways great vid thanks for sharing your experience.

The Episcopal Church now has gay marriage. This past Valentine's Day, Saturday, 14 February 2015, my mom and I attended the wedding of her Episcopal priest to his partner with an Episcopal bishop's officiating over the wedding. It was lovely ceremony, and the congregation turned out en masse to show its support and love for them.

Perrin, wow! If I had to make a coming out video, it would sound 99.9% like yours. You are, by far, the only person I have listened to, since coming out four years ago, who have said exactly what I would say. Amazing! Very well thought out and delivered. Thank you for sharing, what a blessing!

I came out to my family when I was 22; today 17 years later I have the same boyfriend as I did back then. I don't often see these videos on CZcams, but yours made an impression and as Brad Oxford said: "You have said it exactly as I would have said it". Thank you. Best wishes for you and your future happiness.

Perrin, thank you for this. You certainly did your homework and research for this video. I began teaching young people before you were born and began counseling before you were born. My entire adult life has been working with youth. I have a Master's degree in the Humanities with a specialty in theology and psychology. I am certified for teaching in science. None of that means anything without a prayer life, in my opinion. I am a follower of Jesus but not of organized religion. You said everything very well here. I just need to add my own witness from my studies, my interaction with youth over many decades and my love of Jesus. I am convinced that homosexual orientation has no more to do with morality or choice than being born left-handed does. It is all simply a matter of genetics. At one time in the educational system, teachers were charged with the task of 'reparative therapy' for those students with the 'condition' of being left-handed and to make them 'normal' and re-train them to be right-handed. My point, Perrin, is that even in the 21st century some in the human species are still amazingly uninformed. At some point in the future, mankind will look back at this time period and be dumbfounded that humanity could have been so ignorant as to not recognize that homosexuality and heterosexuality are simply two different sexual orientations, one not better or worse than the other, simply different forms. Thank you, Perrin, for your thoroughness and generous tolerance in this video.

I have to say kudos to you for maintaining a relationship with your church. I have not done as you did and pretty much left the church, however, my relationship with God is stronger than ever. Being gay and a Christian during my teens was at first a confusing time filled with self-doubt, condemnation, self-hate, shame, and guilt. I desperately wanted to not be gay, but I realized after I left the church and from what I feel from God is that he made me the way I am and there's nothing wrong with me. Once I truly accepted this, I never had a doubt since. I can't tell you how freeing that is. I just wish I could find a church home that taught a similar doctrine that my Pentecostal church followed, but that doesn't exist in my area. However, I wouldn't trade those years in the church for anything. Despite my turmoil over being gay, it was the best years of my life.

God IS with you friend! Never doubt that....I am a Gay Christian who has been through Ex gay ministries and I came out the other end knowing GOd Loves me, it is so tragic when close Christian friends reject us due to their "obligation" to condemn us because for some weird reason their want to judge instead of show Agape Love is stronger than supporting their friends God go with you in your walk and may He use your Life to reach out to the hundreds of gay Christ believing folk who REALLY know what it means to cling to the Lord

I really liked the fact that you covered about not trying to recruit others, have promiscuous sex, etc. That best describes me too. I am not religious myself but have my beliefs and high morals. You're really a great inspiration for everyone especially others into religion.

I just found this video. As a Christian, I can identify with everything you said. 2014 was a very difficult year for me. I experienced the worst depression of my life and during this time a friend who knew of my struggle and was trying to encourage me, took her own life. I nearly followed her 13 days later. Coming out of that has made me reevaluate my life and decide that it's time to take control of my life and stop living it for everyone else. For too long I have denied myself for the sake of protecting everyone else's feelings. I understand that just as it has taken time to accept myself, I have to allow those I love and who love me time to come to terms with that as well. In the end, I am responsible for being true to myself, the way God created me, and not responsible for how others react to the news. BTW I am 49 years old and feel as though I have never had a life. I have come out to some friends and family over the course of the past year, but not to those closest to me. I will be 50 in January of 2016 and have decided to fully do so before my birthday. The years I have left will be lived authentically. Thank you for sharing your story. Best wishes!

I didn't know she was struggling with the same thing I was. This was totally out of character for her. She's the last person I would ever have thought would do something like that. I miss her so much.

Perrin - I really appreciate your honesty! I am also a gay Christian, and it's definitely not an easy road. I know you said you read the Justin Lee and Matt Vines books. I'm curious if you have read Wesley Hill's Washed and Waiting: Reflections on Christian Faithfulness and Homosexuality, or The Plausibility Problem: The Church and Same-Sex Attraction by Ed Shaw - both men are gay Christians who argue for celibacy for gay Christians, and discuss ways the Church needs to step up to help gay Christians have their intimacy needs met while remaining celibate.

I am in the same boat as you and I stuggle with all the same things. If the worst thing is loving another person I dont think thats so bad.

I want you to know that I have down syndrome and that is my disability and this video is really good because you mentioned about mental health and your video and when you made this video it Chyna got me thinking about that nobody knows what is normal what is abnormal so sexuality is normal what should I be any different From anything else when it shouldn’t be any different from anything else at all
And I want you to know that you’re not just that I also want you to know that this video is inspiring enough for me to tell you that it is normal to ask questions about sexuality and if you make a video about that and use the comment you all know that I fully agree with you God does not hate you for it being who you are or anyone for that matter does God hate me for having down syndrome know it’s just his plan for me to have Down syndrome just like God has a plan for you to be gay so what is normal why can’t people understand that even in the church
